Terrible experience. Proprietor was rude and dismissive. Would not even try to make the requested repair (resole shoes). I took them to Ashton Shoe Repair and they did a fine job. Unless you enjoy being treated poorly, I recommend avoiding this shop. more

Seriously??? I have never in my life met a small business owner who would talk to a customer like that. Convenient Olde Raleigh Village location, but worth the drive to patronize a different shop. Days could be numbered. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/13/2012

The workmanship was fine, but the man who now runs the shop was RUDE! I will never go back. I used to like the man who brought his dogs, but the new owner is NASTY and his customer service is terrible. more

ok work, but not consistent with pricing. 4/24/2012

Dropped shoes off last week. Was told I could pick up on Friday. Since I was not going to be in the area Friday, decided to wait until Monday. I get there Monday and shop was closed during the business hours with no note as to why or when he'd be open. I called Tuesday before going to make sure he'd be open and got a yes with a why are you questioning me about this attitude. My pumps were done, but I neglected to ask him to also fix one of the straps on my pumps. When I asked how much that would be? He said $16.50 for the pair. I only paid $14 to have the shoes repaired for the other damage for which I originally brought the shoes in. Why would I pay $16.50 when only one strap is messed up? And thats more than what I paid for work done on both shoes. No thanks! I'll find someone else for the future. more

Excellent, Speedy, Good Prices 3/11/2012

I caused what I feared to be major damage to a $400 pair of new shoes (carved out a noticeable, deep, cringe-inducing divot right in the top of the front toe). A couple of cobblers suggested the damage was irreparable. We took it in to Olde Raleigh. Eight dollars and ten minutes later, the shoe was fixed and looks like new again! I highly recommend Olde Raleigh Shoe Repair for basic shoe repairs and definitely plan to give them a try with resoling and refinishing some of my older shoes. more

Great prices and great craftsmanship 12/3/2010

I have a pair of Johnston Murphy shoes that would just not quit squeaking. I have tried everything to get them to stop. This past weekend, as I was headed to the Harris Teeter, I noticed a sign for shoe repair behind Rudinos. I went home and checked the internet for prices and reviews. Most reviews were positive, so I took them over Monday morning. The owner indicated he could not fix the squeaking. I asked if resoling would fix it and he said it would. I gave him the shoes and $40 for the repair. He surprisingly said they would be done by Thursday. I got the shoes back today and couldn't be happier with the work. They look just as they did when they were new and no squeak! My brother is taking some shoes by this weekend after seeing the work. I would highly recommend this repair shop in the future. more

excellent craftmanship and promptness 10/9/2010

I have tried this old raleigh shoe myself. and I found out that service is excellent and fast. The price was also very reasonable. and He is so nice that he let neighbor's business to use his space to advertise. ( ex: allow business cards and flyers to put on the counter) more

Workmanship: Outstanding; Customer service: Good 3/5/2010

For years I've been going to the dame cobbler in downtown Raleigh. Well, there was a change in management and I became a dissatisfied customer. Service was fair and the prices tripled. So I decided to try Olde Raleigh Shoe Repair. I took a pair of loafers in to be resoled. The gentleman wasn't all that warm and friendly. He didn't seem all that excited to be there, but he did his thing and 3 days later I went back to pick up my shoes. While picking up my shoes he informed me that he had, ""tried something new"". He stated the he put a thicker sole on the shoe for me so it would last longer. Then asked, ""Ok?""... Sure! Total cost was $38.00. They are holding up great and look brand new. I'll definitely go back. Pros: Excellent workmanship; Very good pricepoint Cons: Cool reception; Flat affected; Doing my job more

Poor quality work and rude 8/30/2008

Took sneakers in b/c bottom of rubber soles coming unglued. All the guy said was he'd have to take it all off and glue it back (I said OK) and that it would be $20. I thought that was high for gluing a rubber sole to a sneaker, but whatever. Paid and picked up my shoes a few days later. Wore the shoes for 1 hr and the soles started coming off again. Returned the shoes that day and got attitude as soon as I walked in. I was very nice but the guy was instantly defensive. First he said the part that came off was not the part he glued and when I reminded him that he said he would reglue the entire bottom, he then said that he told me there was no guarantee on the work. I told him he didn't say that but he insisted he did (he did not). He took the shoes back and shouted at me ""this is the last time!"" Like I've been bringing the shoes in every day or something. I pick them up again today - can't wait to see how rude he will be this time. I do not expect the shoes to be fixed, I expect to have just paid $20 to be treated like cr@p. No surprise, but I never intend to go back there. Pros: convenient to my house Cons: poor craftsmanship, didn't stand by their work, RUDE more

Not so great craftmanship, slow turnaround. 12/25/2007

Price was reasonable. I had heel & half sole replacements. One of the heels made a weird soudn afterwards. They didn't color match the sole so it looked much lighter than the originals. They didn't put new feet pads inside, or even put the old ones back in. I just expected more for $40. Pros: Convenient to my home, Friendly enough Cons: Quality, Value more

Best customer service! 8/10/2006

Olde Raleigh Shoe Repair is the cutest shoe repair place ever. I was going to throw my high heels away because the soles wore down so much, but they repaired my shoes to look like they were brand new. Now I have many more miles to go on them instead of buying a new pair of shoes. Excellent customer service and a lovely personal touch. Highly recommneded! Pros: Excellent customer service, fabulous price! more
