Worst

We were actually looking for a fun place, not too stiff, and have been pointed to this Sports Bar. Pros: Nice screens. Good size. Cons: Horrible service.

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/11/2012

Had to wait long for service and when it came, wasn't even up to par with McDonalds. Food is not bad but a bit overpriced. more

Best Sports Bar in the Bay Area 6/12/2009

Good time, good service, good food, bullride. Especially if you're a regular, it is a warm, happy place despite the large size. Pros: Good menu, a lot of regulars, good service, patio Cons: Too crowded during big sporting events more

great sports bar 6/2/2009

Good times, good service, good fun! first night is a bullride must for anyone, and is the best pad for post Game Day! Pros: those massive tall beer holders Cons: those massive tall beer holders becoming empty so quickly more

BITCHY BLOND BARTENDERS 2/21/2008

Wow what a shithole place. The bartenders suckass. I got the bitchiest blond bimbo for a waitress. She said that she needed to check all of my friends' ID's before I could order any drinks, when I had already showed her my ID. more

WORST BAR IN DOWNTOWN PALO ALTO 2/19/2008

I signed up for an account specifically to write this review. I would give a negative rating if I could. Cons: BAD SERVICE more

Great for watching College Football, Horrible for Customer Service 9/17/2007

Atmosphere was good on Saturday afternoon with plenty of college football fans but dont count on the bartenders to add an extra bit of pleasure. Two bartenders in particular were not only disrespectful and unprofessional but did not fulfill a request with our meal. Later that night i told my friends about it and they have said their experience with the bartenders was exactly the same. Hopefully management reads these reviews and makes changes. Pros: Plenty of large screen to watch multiple games Cons: Rude bartenders more

Extremly Rude Management 7/10/2007

I rate this place so bad not because of the food or service but because of the manager named Vickie. She is a horrible person who treats her employees and customers very bad. My first time in Old Pro was last year when I came in and waited for drinks at the bar, after waiting for the blond manager named Vickie to finish flirting with a group of guys, 15 min passed and she finally helped me. The bar was not crowded, and she seemed to ignore her customers for numerous different males. I had some questions so I figured I would give it one more shot, on my way out I asked her about group parties and how they worked and she replied so rudly and with such a look of disgust that I walked out. The other waitresses were very helpful and I even heard her yelling at one. I tried to go back about one month ago because I liked the food, when I came in for my second time I saw Vickie spray down two inocent girls who were customers and sitting at the bar. She sprayed them with the water house and cause a huge comotion and started a fight with the girls. I'm not sure what kind of management lets her run that place, but I def DO NOT recomend going here unless your ready for extreme rudeness. more

AVOID THIS SWEAT SHOP 5/27/2007

This place is terrible. I heard that they get there meat from Costco and charge us double, Vickie is mean and rude. They dont even pay there employes that they should. I know they are being sued by their employes' because they dont pay overtime..Nice TV's.. Pay your emplyes.. Pros: Nice TVs Cons: Over priced and rude girls more

Best REAL Sports Bar in the Bay Area 9/22/2006

Hands down, THE Best REAL Sports Bar in the Bay Area. The one on Ramona St is the great if you want rowdy Sportsbar atmostphere. Go to the El Camino if you want the Cheers like atmosphere. The food is great, the beer can be served in a tall tall tube with a despenser so your group can pour their own beer on tap. LOTs and LOTS of Plasma TVs & there's a that Cow riding machine that i've never seen in the bay area anywhere else but on TV. Pool Tables too. Seat yourself, there's menu's thrown everwhere... and you share tables with other patrons who'll be watching the game too. It's like VIP rooms at the stadium. more

Conundrum 8/1/2006

The Old Pro is a bit of a conundrum. There are so few old bars in Palo Alto that I should like it, but the beer selection is sub-par - it's a rolling rock and bud kind of joint. Even the selection of sports TVs - no flat panel glory! Just look at the ""business description"" - they spell ""dungeness"" wrong. I almost wish they just stuck to what they do well, instead of trying to gussy up, but I like a little gussying. It's worth a trip - but don't expect to be ""where the action is"". Pros: Parking, attitude Cons: Food, beer, screens more

I love this place 12/7/2005

The Old Pro is the place to go where you want to bring a group of friends, have a good time, and be where the action is. I've brought my girlfriend there and she even likes it! The food is great and the service is friendly, the only problem is that when it is busy, it's so loud you have to go on the patio to talk. Pros: atmosphere, food, service Cons: can be noisy more

Good luck getting served 10/19/2005

service is terrible and food is significantly OVER rated. Beer has been flat about 80% of the times Ive been there. Only good thing is tv and sunday ticket. Pros: television Cons: service, food, staff attitude more

a den away from home 4/22/2003

seems like a great place, although it wasn't too corwded last time i went. it seems that they're wasting a lot of space in the back as storage. The beers were relatively timely, we were checked upon a few times throughout our stay, and the atmosphere was quite friendly. I'd stay away from the ""Old Pro Lager"" i think it might be a generic keg similar to busch or the beast. also, shame on them for having 3 types of wings and not one of them buffalo wings. those are the only gripes, otherwise, a real fun joint. oh, and last call was at 8.45pm? didn't understand that one bit. Pros: comfortable, lots of games on, beer Cons: no buffalo wings, paking lot is dark, weird hours more

Great Sport Atmosphere 3/13/2003

When I walked into this place for the first time, I was in awe of all the old sports paraphenalia. Great place to watch sports and a VERY attentive waitress who works her tail off. Pros: GREAT SERVICE, GREAT SERVICE, GREAT SERVICE Cons: N/A, N/A, N/A more

great service 1/20/2003

I've been to the Pro regularly for a while now and really appreciate the consistent high quality of service we get there (except the rare occasion when the regular wait staff are not on duty). Wings are great and the rest of the food is good. Don't order the hot dog pizza. more

here's a great bar 12/29/2002

I went here for my first time. Great pictures everywhere. Service was friendly, place was packed. The burgers are awesome. Definitely will be back to give those Irish a hard time! Pros: atmosphere, food, service Cons: those darn Irish fans more

Cheers 12/10/2002

""Making your way in the world today Takes everything you've got; Taking a break from all your worries Sure would help a lot Wouldn't you like to get away ? Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came; You want to be where you can see, Our troubles are all the same; You want to be where everybody knows your name."" Cheers to you Old Pro Happy Holidays to the best Sports Bar in America !! more

best sports bar in town 12/7/2002

The Old Pro is the best place in PA to watch sports and hang out. I usually drop in a couple of times a week for lunch or dinner and to catch a game. The quality of food and service have always been outstanding. The bartenders are very personable and make you feel right at home. It can get a little crazy during college football season, but thats because everyone knows its the best place to see almost any game being played across the country. Pros: good service, lots of games on tv, great food more

Best bang for a buck! 12/6/2002

Big portions of great food served here! I have an unquenchable thirst and a gluttonous appetite and I always leave here for less than $20. And for atmosphere, I couldn't decide which was better: the sports memorabilia decor spanning many generations, the sporting events on all of those satellite televisions, or those beautiful girls serving food & drink and running around with friendly smiles and witty chitchat! Do NOT come here if you are not down to earth with decent social skills. When the bar is packed (usually during big sporting events) you must be patient, wise, and not so darn narcissistic. Even during these fun, hectic, and crazy times, I have always been able to maintain a full belly and a full glass of beer! Thanks for everything Old Pro... Pros: foodski, funski, brewski more
