I?ve was very excited to try this restaurant , went on a Friday with a couple of people with no reservations, the wait was about 15-20 mins not bad considering the place was packed.\r
\r
The service was good, the atmosphere was cozy and rustic. The menu looked fabulous and it was hard to make a choice so everyone had something different so we could sample a larger variety. \r
\r
The bread was stale and dry. The salad was different, tasty, but the canned green beans were ?funky?, totally contradicts the freshness of the other ingredients of the salad. When the entrees came out I was taken aback. The spuds were decent, again with the canned veggies! And the meat? all I can say is ?where?s the beef??\r
\r
Think about it. This restaurant is in the heart of cattle country, but they skimped on the meat, and for the price we were paying for the meal the meat shouldn?t have been able to fit on the plate. The Germans are robust people with hearty appetites, WE FELT SO TAKEN!!!.\r
\r
Don?t get me wrong, the meat was cooked to perfection; however I would like to have more than three(3) bites of protein with my meal!\r
\r
Bottom line: 1 beer, 3 sodas, 4 entrees over $120.00 OUCH!!! That?s what I spend on groceries for the week for a family of 4. It was an experience, but I won?t be returning again. The next time I?m in the mood for German cuisine, I?ll get the recipes from the epicurious website and do it myself, it?s not THAT hard. \r

*** TO THE OWNERS OF OLD GERMANY***\r
Die Nahrung war gut, aber der Teil, zum fur Preis Verhaltnisses festzusetzen ist, also skandalos, wei?t du, dass du nicht Recht hast!
Pros: food was tasty, atmosphere was cozy, service was good.
Cons: extremely small portions of meat, canned vegs instead of fresh, high prices not justified
