Old Chicago 4/2/2010

Now first off, don't get me wrong by the two star rating, the food in this place is absolutely excellent. Delicious salads, pizzas and desserts. Their Happy Hour is unbeatable, me and my former room mates hit it up a whole lot for the good prices on beer and burgers. Also because my socially retarded shut in friend was madly in love with the waitress, but I won't go too into detail with that since I intend to eventually write a book about his misadventures. The atmosphere is nice and homey, pretty relaxing, even if their chairs are the bane of every fat persons existence. The wait staff is very friendly, a lot of them we were on a first name basis with, my wife included. Usually they were pretty quick, and pretty chatty, and hung out with us quite a bit. Food came quick, and so did refills. However any time I came in with my wife, which was at least eight times, everything was completely different. It'd take us ten to twenty minutes for our waitress to even drop by and say hello to take our orders, and most of the time it took us thirty minutes or more to get or food. Now, this is odd because it's the same servers, and the places were usually dead to the world when we came in. I suppose this is one of those 'go figure' things, but almost ten meals is a disturbing pattern. I was so handsome and obviously taken they could barely bring themselves to the table because they knew they couldn't have me. No wonder Zack never stood a chance. Pros: Very good happy hour. Cons: The speed of their service is slower than the dickens. more

good food and drinks 11/2/2009

We go to Old Chicago about every 3 - 4 months and always seem to have a good time. The food is good, especially the pizza, and we like the drinks as well. We just bought one of those entertainment books that my son's school sells, but no coupon for Old Chicago? =) In this economy, i'm surprised that restaurants like Old Chicago aren't trying a little harder to get people to come out and visit them? Maybe their doing ok without discounts or coupons? Anyway, we like Old Chicago and will continue going there. Pros: great pizza! Cons: no entertainment book coupon? more

Decent pizza, happy hour not up to its former glory 12/27/2007

This used to be one of my favorite hang outs for happy hour. They have decent service and for the most part everyone is friendly. The happy hour menu changes every couple of months and some months it is better than others. It used to be fantastic $2 pints of anything that isn't foreign, and they had great waitress' that were friendly and personable. Their local beer selections used to be much better. Now it is good to ok on what you'll get. They do have quite the beer selection with at least 110 varieties (mostly in bottles but 30-40 beers on tap). The food is good not great but the last two trips I have received it cold and undercooked. It is a very comfortable bar/restaurant atmosphere that is relaxed They also have 6-8 taps that they have on rotator that change fairly often. Sometimes the beers are great... sometimes it seems they buy them because of a clever name. Thursday night karaoke will get you the same songs and singers every week. The typical stuff you hear everywhere. Pros: beer selection, atmosphere is relaxed, pizza good on occasion Cons: sometimes the food is cold, can be understaffed on busy nights more
