Great customer service, don't understand the negative reviews 6/22/2012

Quick breakdown: Customer service - 9/10 Knowledge of products - 9/10 Ease of sale - 10/10 Personality of sales staff - 9/10 OK Runner is a great local store to get running shoes and apparel, and honestly I don't understand why some people say they've had bad experiences here. I went in this afternoon, told the staff that I was going to buy a pair of running shoes and that I overpronate and have low arches and need a shoe exactly for that. Within 30 minutes I had bought a great pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 12 for about $120 which is very competitive pricing, and they have a 10 day trial policy so if they don't work out I can bring them back no questions asked. This is great customer service, there's no other way to say it. The guy that helped me was extremely knowledgable and polite and didn't try to talk me into or out of any shoes; he listened to exactly what I wanted and I let his expertise guide me to the right pair of shoes. If you try to act like they know more about running or running shoes than the guys that work there, I can imagine they won't go out of their way to be extra polite or helpful, but that's probably try for any profession. I don't know if that's the experience of the other people who wrote reviews, but regardless I think this is probably true. Let them know what you think you need and what you value in a shoe and let them guide you from there. This is a GREAT local store and I'll absolutely be buying my running gear from them in the future. more

Customer Service Lacking 7/20/2011

It's hard to describe the feel this shop once you walk in the door, I noticed it right away but couldn't explain it. I made it past some salesmen and a dog and down the stairs to the shoes. Then an older gentlemen approached and asked if I needed help. I told him that I'd been out looking for basketball shoes, but saw this store and thought I'd check it out. He abruptly said 'we only sell running shoes' and then I smiled and said I figured. Our conversation continued a bit, but he didn't lighten at all and he was so unwelcoming that I'd lost all interest in 'checking it out' after the encounter. So I let him know that we were leaving and he made no attempt to apologize. I kind of felt like Julia Roberts trying to buy new clothes...but here's the thing, there's nothing about me that would evoke someone to be so rude (like that would excuse it). They need to learn to be more hospitable. When I saw the other posts on here about how rude they are, I wanted to share my experience. more

Disappointing 6/29/2011

The selection was good, but that was about all. I do not look like "a runner" but after having kids I am trying to get back into running. They did not ask me a single question just told me to take off my shoes and looked at my feet then brought out two shoes and told me those were the only ones that would work for my feet. He didn't even ask what I would be using the shoes for or tell me anything about them. He was rude so I went to another store where they took the time to really educate me. more

Absolutely Infuriating 12/2/2010

My girlfriend was mistreated from the moment she set foot in the store. She tried to return the shoes she bought after deciding the employees were rude and uncaring. When she decided to return them, (completely in the condition they were in when she bough them) she had to fight for her money back. As she was leaving, she was insulted by the employees. I called and complained, but the manager's response was that he didn't want my business, or the business of any of my friends. I encourage you to go somewhere else, this place is disgraceful and full of unbelievably inconsiderate and, frankly, mean people. more

Going on 11 years now. 11/19/2009

Good: The willingness to listen to the customer first. Their background and knowledge of the product is great yet only offered as advice. Their method of "shoe testing" reveals the objective of the store to assist and benefit the customer above trying to make a sale. They stick to the facts of the shoe, both pros and cons. Their knowledge on changes w/in the brands are as up to date as the shoes themselves. If an exchange of a recent purchase is needed, they are more than willing to work with you.. Other: I discovered OK Runner when I lived close to Norman.Unfortunately I moved to the North side of the city and decided to try another running store instead of driving all the way to Norman. Though the shoes may have been the same, the service and the professionalism was not. From then on, I made the drive to Norman. Really glad they came to the North side though.. more

A friendly shoe store for athletes 9/14/2005

OK runner is the perfect place for athletes to buy their footwear. the service is very friendly and overly helpful. The salesmen will help you in every possible way and give you advice. The prices are average for designer athletic shoes and the set-up is really convient. This is definitely a place worth shopping once! more
