Best

Good atmosphere at the sushi bar and nice preparations. Pros: Some of the best sushi in the area Cons: Not the most convenient location

Worst

I have eaten at both Oishii in the South End and the one on Hammond street. At both places I have had terrible service. This specific location has been the worst. One time I order...

The very best 6/6/2004

I married a Japanese woman and I have been to Japan many times. Of course only in Japan is the very best sushi but we are not in Japan so if you want the very best sushi this side of Japan then there is only one place that will all ways give you Very good sushi and that is oishii sushi. Which is the word that is used in Japan after the folks eat anything that is really good. The Japanese will say OISHII !!! which for the rest of us means delicious. You love sushi you will love this delicious place. more

Best Sashimi 5/13/2004

THE BEST! Indescribable! JUST DELICIOUS! FRESH and worth the wait and $$$ Pros: food, food, food!!!! Cons: , service more

Best Sushi 1/29/2004

I've had a lot of sushi in my day and this was, without a doubt, the best sushi I've ever eaten. The selection, quality and taste were all unmatched. Try the seared tuna roll or the scallop (Jeffrey's) special roll. Worth the half-hour wait. Pros: best sushi, great variety Cons: , long wait more

Inconsistent quality (from frequenter) 1/16/2004

If you have time to wait for 2 hours and sit down in one of its 15 seats and eat, then they will serve you great fish, best in Boston, and that's saying a lot since I've been to and frequented Ginza, Fugakyu, kayuga, Blue fin, Clio (Uni sashimi bar), kokokabuya, gyuhama, tokyo city, you name it! BUT----and there is a big ""but""... often when you order TAKE OUT the fish quality is as bad as supermarket quality. Big disappointments. Save Oishii for the days you have time to wait for a long time, otherwise it is hit or miss. I thought they just had a bad day but this has happened more than once and the people sitting down (when I pick up my food) are eating better quality fish. Pros: best fish sometimes, friendly staff Cons: long long wait, inconsistent quality., no reservations more

WOW 11/3/2003

As a food lover, I was delighted to find such a jem in Boston!! If you love sushi, this is the place to try. Not many sushi restaruants in Boston come close to Oishii. ""Legal"" fresh seafood, amazing presentation, friendly chef and staff. First-timer may think it's a bit pricy, but trust me, it's worth every penny! Come early or expect quite a wait outside. But still, one of my favorites!!! Pros: Food, Presentation Cons: Long wait more

best sushi on east coast 10/2/2003

It's a shame this restaurant doesn't fit more customers because it serves the best sushi I've ever had (better than New York)! They use unique ingredients for their rolls such as white seaweed, and their nigiri is huge! I wish they opened another location in city! Pros: rolls, nigiri, everything on menu! Cons: size of restaurant more

great sushi! 8/30/2003

This is the best sushi we've had in Boston. The quality is excellent and the value is very good. I would strongly recommend just doing the take out. Unless you're there by yourself it would probably take too long to wait for a seat. Pros: too crowded more

Yay! 8/16/2003

Amazing sushi, but you pay for it. Definitely worth treating yourself too. Try the takeout, since seating can be an issue there. But if you do sit down it's definitely an experience! Pros: Great food, Quick service Cons: Limited seating, Long wait more

Best Sushi in Boston 6/15/2003

There can be no comparison in freshness, taste, and inventiveness of Oishii Sushi. No other sushi restaurant including Fugakyu, Oga, Ginza, etc. can compare. Only Fugakyu and Tsunami have some interesting sushi such as spicy Salmon Maki with crispy tempura flakes. Oishii has many new makis as well as anything you want to put together. Only negative to the restaurant is its tight quarters. Worth the wait or you can take out. more

Best Sushi in Boston 5/20/2003

No doubt, this place has the freshest, most well prepared, best tasting Sushi in Boston. Other places can sometimes come close, but Oishii is so consistently good it leaves its competitors fighting for a distant second. The only real drawback is that it's only good for takeout. There are too many people lining up outside for the 12 or so available seats inside. Also, they can sometimes be a little optimistic on their wait times for takeout. Last time I ordered, I was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. The order actually took 80 minutes to prepare. I guess thats the price of perfection! Pros: Fresh, Delicious, Always well prepared Cons: Minimal seating, Takeout can take time more

Stop getting sushi anywhere else! 2/3/2003

This is hands down the best sushi in Boston, probably in New England. The freshest maguro, toro and hamachi around, and Tony and the rest of the chefs cut off generous portions with great knife skills and a warm demeanor. Try the special makis, especially the torch maki! Entrees are also wonderful. You can even bring your own beer or wine. Well worth a 45 minute wait for a seat. I can't go anywhere else for sushi anymore! Get going now! Pros: Superb food, Excellent service, Always parking Cons: Long wait, Small more

Creative Sushi 1/17/2003

Oishi is awesome. Very creative, the way sushi should be. Freshest tuna in town. Pros: Good parking, Great food, Fast Cons: too small, no delivery more

The best sushi place in town 1/4/2003

If you desire sushi dining experience that is as authentic as the ones you find in Japan, then Oishii is the place to be. Pros: Best Sushi in town, Easy Parking Cons: Crowded, Expensive, Small Place more

simply the best! 12/29/2002

I used to be a ginza fanatic, but now im oishii obsessed! Simply the best sushi in the boston area. Try the white tiger maki or the crispy spicy tuna, and youll be hooked forever. But, theres no room in the restaurant, so takeout is a must. You can even create your own sushi right then and there, and tell the chef exactly what you want on it. Pros: amazing food, fast service, create-your-own sushi Cons: crowded, small, very small more

Top Boston Fish 12/12/2002

Yes, this is no Nobu and Boston is WAY behind in terms of sushi, but Oishii stands out as THE BEST in Boston. It is the only sushi place that I get really ecxited about, and the only one that can pull off really creative dishes, not just the standard Nigiri platter. Until Nobu opens up in beantown, this is the place to go. more

TOTEMO OISHII DESU YO! 11/8/2002

For those who don't speak Japanese, the title mean very delicious for sure! Being rate the Best of Boston, nothing beats this! With service like no other, everyone is family. Chilean sea bass, how I crave it this very moment!!! Please get me out of the Midwest and send me to Boston!!!! Pros: everything more

Great Sushi 8/21/2002

Oishii and Fugakyu are definitely the top 2 sushi rest. in boston or around. The only problem with this one is it is so tiny. Not good for groups at all. more

Hands Down Best Sushi in Boston 7/23/2002

The salmon roll is to die for - I've never had fresher better tasting salmon. All of the sushi is out of this world leaps and bounds over other places in Boston. Worth the extra $. Pros: Best Sushi, Extremely Fresh, Usually parking Cons: Very limited seating, location more

Top notch ""American sushi"" 7/2/2002

Best kept secret in Boston - go here for the best rolled sushi! Nobu-style rolls (interesting combinations), innovative appetizers. Fish is fairly good, but the specialty of the house is definitely the rolls (which are an American invention, not a traditional Japanese offering. Any of the rolls listed on the wall are tasty. Unfortunately, the place is tiny. Be prepared to wait and don't even think of going here with a big group! Pros: Best rolled sushi Cons: Tiny restaurant more

Creative Sushi 6/15/2002

Oishi is the best in Boston. Very consistent. Variety of sushi is served and can be customized to your own liking. Seats are very limited. Pros: Creative Food, Greate Taste, Friendly Sushi Chefs Cons: Long Wait, Limited Seating, No Alchoholic Serve more
