O'Gallerie is the BEST Auction Place Ever! 12/7/2010

I have been to O'Gallerie for several years, and have never been disappointed. The auction house itself is large, and the house is usually full. There is usually a lot of activity on the really good stuff, but for items that are not the best, then one should be aware that the sales price may not be exactly what you want. However, the people that give you the range of the sales price is usually very accurate, so if you don't like it, then don't sell it there, or just don't sell it. Just remember, other consignments stores want 40 to 60 percent, which is twice what O'Gallerie charges on the sell side. I like the online catalogs that come out weeks before the auction, where you can see a clear photo of the item, a detailed description, and a suggested sales range. It is extremely helpful to see what you want. These catalogs are then archived with actual prices for several months. There is also ample time to preview your items to purchase for 3 days before a major auction. This is extremely helpful, so you can see if there are any nicks/scratches/etc. well before you buy. The bidding goes fast, so don't be shy there, and you will have the time of your life! I love it! more

A Great Auction House 10/19/2007

I have been both a buyer and consigner at O'Gallerie for many years and it has always been a positive experience. Pros: Great Items, Helpful Staff, Prompt Payment more

Best Auction House on the West Coast 6/28/2007

In reference to the above review, I was at that auction. O'Gallerie did an excellent job. If consignors feel their items are worth more than they actually are, of course they're going to be unhappy. O'Gallerie is THE finest auction house on the west coast. And I should know. I attend auctions all over the world. O'Gallerie pays their consignors on time and all consignment fees are clearly spelled out in their consignment agreement, which is filled out and signed by each consignor well in advance of the auction. Two years ago O'Gallerie auctioned off my parents estate. They estimated the entire estate would sell somewhere in the $60,000 to $80,000 range. Five weeks after the auction I received a check for over $125,000!!!! No complaints here. I'll use them again whenever the need arrises. more

do not auction your stuff here 1/26/2007

I had give them thousands of dollars worth of edwardian chairs, lamps, mirrors, we had bought a smaller house and needed to downsize. They sold all of it for a couple of hundred dollars, only, they also charged me a non-refundable $85 to pick everything up, their commission took out half of the profit, I almost died, it became obvious their bidders are not educated since the bidders set the prices and the lack of interest in these incredible items shows a certain clientele, which could be Portland or outside of Portland, in other words, if you value and appreciate your pieces DO NOT take them to this auction house, they sell junk to junk dealers and I was stupid in giving them my precious family heirlooms to sell more
