What A Classic Place with A view great food and service 2/16/2009

We had A wonderful experience At the Odyssey resturaunt this Valentine's evening. Unfortuneltley we were not able to sit at a table @ the window, but the view was still tremendous. Our waiters were Lou and Jesus, and they were simply tremendous. Not only was the service exceptional, it was classic, the way they song Happy Anniversary, the experience reminded me of my days of eating @ some of the finest establishments, in N.Y.C, Tavern On The Green is a perfect example in Central Park. My wife of 46 years orderd the Duet which Lou recommended saying""the combination of Filet migon and Shrimp scampi, was the best of both worlds seafood, & beef: I myself orderd the filet of oscar, Im not kidding you, this was the best Filet mignon Ive ever had no offense to the neighbors but as the waiter said the filet is the most tender with the least amount of fat. Louie said they had the best chef in the USA also named Jesus and he wasnt kidding. Even though, as i understand it the menu was special that evening the waiters said they would accomadate us in the future with anything we wanted as long as they had the product , and if they didnt Jesus offerd to go the store and get what I wanted, now that is service, ill never forget that.I highly recommend this restaurant, not only for the view, service, and food they simply made us feel like family it was A real experience which is so hard to find these days in Los Angeles,. We definetly will be back, and recommend The Odyssey to others and as the waiters mentionded there not a chain but they have other resturaunts the Castway is one, just call the Odyssey and they will tell you about one of there fine establishments close to you. OUTSTANDING, & definetly worth the money,& simply made my night. We are headed back this friday for the salsa lessons and the movie tickets Louie & Jesus provided. Hopefully we will see you there. Pros: Wonderful service and food with A great View Cons: If any Very Very Busy more

Great View, Great Food and Service 12/1/2008

We had friends visiting from out state and we brought them to the Odyssey for the Thanksgiving Champagne Brunch. The expirence was great with quality food like the traditional turkey, ham, prime rib and more, the service was great and the unforgotable views. This restaurant was very busy, but they still did a great job. We came back for dinner on Saturday night and they did exceed our expectations with the quality of the steaks and fish and the service was professional and friendly, the ambiance, atmospher and the evening city light really complimented our evening. We will recomend the Odyssey to all our friends and family. Thank you for a wonderfull expierance. Pros: Great View, Food and Service Cons: Updated more

It's okay... 10/27/2008

The Odyssey is a nice place to go for a view of the valley. I've been there a couple of different times for business and family dinners. The food is fine, not great. They have a huge buffet on Sundays I think... more food than I could ever eat. I guess I'm just not all that impressed, but I'm sure I'll go back for some function again soon. more

Bad Food, Great View of the Valley 8/31/2008

My date and I visited this restaurant last evening for dinner. I strictly requested that my steak be ""rare""--it arrived ""well done"" and cold. The waitress was very sweet and friendly, and she quickly got me a steak that was ""rare"", but I noticed that it had no flavor whatsoever. The side dishes were boring--a so-so potato and a few veggies thrown on the plate. My date stated his dinner was ""so-so"" , as well. The restaurant does possess a beautiful view of the Valley. It has a nice terrace area where you can have drinks, overlooking the Valley, that is lovely. If only the food could match the view. I had visited this restaurant many times in the 80s and 90s and the food was much better. Too bad the food quality has gone downhill. I would not visit this restaurant again. Pros: View, Service Cons: The quality of the food more

Dining in the Valley 11/15/2007

The BF and I went here for a quiet dinner for his birthday Friday night. We had no reservations but was seated within 10 minutes. I usually go here during my company's Xmas lunch party (buffett lunch are usually h it or miss, last year was really good but the year before was mediocre) so this time I got to see a lovely view of the valley at night. Service was pleasant; our waiter was attentive and recommended a good appetizer. The Crab Stuffed Mushrooms were delicious, I would have just ordered that as my meal had I known it was that good. I had the Jumbo Crab Cake which was disappointing because it was a bit too salty and wasn't anything special. BF got the special of the day, Chicago style steak...wish I had ordered that instead, it was really good. To sum it up- quick seating, pleasant service, great appetizer, ok-to-good food and a nice view. more

Worst customer service 4/6/2007

We celebrated my aunt's birthday tonight at The Odyssey. Tonight must've been the worst visit to a restaurant I've ever had. We had a party of 30+, with a set menu, arrived at the restaurant at 7pm. It took over an hour to get our main course and more than 30 min to get our desserts. Non of our service needs were met and this was all due to the fact that the manager had placed one waiter for our entire party. Eventually, we got a chance to talk to the manager Mike J., however Mike didn't recognize the restaurant's fault even after all the explanation. Mike J. should be fired and all the waiters at the restaurant should be re-trained for customer care. Cons: Bad service and bad management. Poor, poor customer service!! more

A Great Place For Dinner or An Event 7/21/2003

I've been to the Odyssey many, many times over the years: for dinner, for weddings, for business meetings, for holiday parties. The view is spectacular and the food is consistently good. The Early Bird specials are quite a deal. On a nice warm evening, request outdoor seating; it's fabulous!! Great place for a great evening. Pros: Good Food, Great Salad Bar, Great View Cons: Might Have To Wait more

Waitress right on! 10/15/2002

Oh, what a pleasure it was to dine at the Odyssey. Not only was the food great, the bar and bar staff were fantastic. I had the best waitress, Erika, who was full of knowledge and quite chipper. DOn't miss the experience! Pros: Food, Staff more

Beautiful view of the valley 9/23/2002

I went there for a friend's baby shower and we enjoyed a champagne brunch. The view is the first thing you notice when you walk in there. Situated on a high spot in Granada Hills, the restaurant has a magnificent view of the valley below. The dining room has high windows, so when you make reservations, ask for a window seat. You can also sit outside. The champagne brunch was really nice. It was buffet style and had an incredible selection of food. They will also custom make omlettes and pastas for you on the spot. While we were there, we saw someone having a wedding banquet in one of the private rooms. Pros: Magnificent view, Free parking more

Beautiful View at Night 7/11/2002

I have been to this place many times. The service is great and the food is good. The view at night is great because the restaurant is on a hill. Having dinner with friends or someone special, this is the best place to celebrate it. What else can I say, people get married here as well. I have DJ here many times. more

Hill Side Elegance 7/3/2002

With an ambience of bliss, The Odyssey Restaurant illuminates the dining community. Beautiful by view, The Odyssey has blossomed memory after memory. The added elegance of Koi ponds, fire-pits and massive floral arragements only lace the experience with beauty. The food, great as it is, did not meet my highest standards, but was quite delicious. Perfect for our banquet, the service was magnificent and highly recommended. The restaurant is also great for a night of family dining or romancing your other. Pros: Elegant view., Perfect for banquets., Wonderful service. Cons: Food not of heaven., Parking spaces small. more
