Editorial review from Citysearch 11/4/2013

I went here with a couple of friends before a Twins game mainly due to the location. We had a really good time, great selection of beers, good snacks and the staff was incredibly attentive. Actually we had such a good time that we stopped on the way back to our cars after the game and had the same positive experience. The location got us here, the food, staff and drinks brought us back. more

Terrible customer service from owner!! 1/19/2012

We contacted O'Donovan's a month in advance to cater a large work event and were told to talk to the owner, Dermot Cowley. Dermot was great....at first. He provided suggestions to appeal to a large crowd and even offered to provide the lunch at a discount since we were on a budget! Fabulous, right? He soon turned unresponsive when trying to finalize the food and finance just before the event. He would not answer his cell phone, return our phone messages, and did not send follow-up emails when he said he would. The whole ordeal was extremely unprofessional. Dermot should have been straightforward that he was not interested or unable to do it! The committee ended up having to scramble to find other arrangements a week before the event. Horrible customer service and from the owner no less! more

Best bartenders, fantastic food 10/1/2006

My old man and I have been frequenting OD's for quite some time and we have never met a friendlier bunch of people. Best atmosphere, proper pints, and wonderful food. Most suprising, they put up with the likes of us! Pros: Great Food and Beer, Friendly Bartenders more

Feels like a cleaner Dublin 12/15/2005

I recently moved to MSP and this has been my favorite bar so far. It's got a great Irish feel but doesn't feel as dirty as if it were in Dublin. Good place to go for great bar food and a propa pint. Pros: Atmosphere, location, prices Cons: Irish beer list more

Excellent beer selection, good karaoke 11/3/2005

I've had a hard time finding better Sunday night karaoke than O'Donnovan's. And nothing goes with karaoke like a few drinks! Fortunately, O'Donnovan's carries a fantastic selection of Irish beers, whiskeys, and liquours for the distinguished drinker. Prices are a tad expensive, but that is to be expected with imported beverages. The pub layout provides ample opportunities to mingle, meet new people, and get away from the loud music occassionally. O'Donnovan's attracts a mixed crowd and is high in traffic, but comfortable seating is always available in this fun atmosphere. Pros: Excellent draft beers, Good karaoke, Diverse pub layout Cons: Expensive drinks more

Karaoke is not good, boring host 7/18/2005

The setting is cool, the singer gets to go on stage. That is about it. You can't hear yourself clearly while on stage. The host was cute, but boring, and you can't understand her when she calls a name, muffled. The karaoke list isn't bad although, the books are hard to go through as new songs and sections are added to the front of the books, making it difficult to really find a song. Service is super slow when Karaoke is going on. Pros: Nice place, Parking nearby Cons: Boring host, bad sound, gets crowded more

As good as Eire 9/15/2004

They have the best karaoke and a great selection of songs for a Sunday night. Too bad it starts at 10pm for those who have to work Monday morning. It is a great place to go any night of the week. The staff is wonderful and friendly. Great place to meet people and have get togethers. Only thing they are missing is Miller Lite but that is do to the crappy beer distributor who handles downtown Mpls. You know who you are! All around great pub! Pros: live music, friendly staff, great karaoke more

want to meet new people? 7/14/2003

I found O'Donovan's a wonderful place to meet new people. The atmosphere brings in lots of nice people. I came for happy hour and stayed all night, I had such a great time! Pros: friendly staff, not overly crowded, great atmoshere Cons: a little expensive more

Cheers, Mate! 10/2/2002

This pub is GREAT! You know, some pubs have Murphy's Stout, but it's bitter. (I'm not sure what happens during the importing process, but sometimes it ruins the beer.) I am happy to report this is not the case at O'Donovan's. The bartenders are genuine, friendly - and appreciative of your business. The crowd is very laid back and friendly as well. I skipped the fish that night, but the ""chips"" were fantastic. I'd love to be a regular at that bar. Go Twins! (and Go O'Donovan's!) Pros: Great brews, Great service, Great staff more
