Great time other than one bad egg 9/29/2009

Love their products and always will, and Johnny gave a heck of a tour, but the brunette working this afternoon has almost zero people skills. I was ignored in line to buy some tshirts while she waited on two different groups, then finally got to me and acted like I should still wait behind some people who just walked in. I also watched her give the groups two $4 chips to use for a purchase off of tshirts and hats. When I asked about that she said it was if you purchase a flight, all the proceeds to go charity. So basically, you can spend $4 and get $8 to spend on their cool gear. The fact that we purchased $16 in beer before the tour did not matter. The issue is not about the discount. It's about two things: they are not clear about the donations to charity (if I would have known that, I would have done that), and then she was one of the unfriendliest people I have met in a long time. It won't stop me from purchasing their products, but I am not eager to recommend that friends go to the brewery. more

Editorial
  • This long-lived Fort Collins outfit is one of the state's most successful brewpubs, thanks to a team of hugely popular English-style ales.

    The Scene
Doug Odell's company has grown from a tiny family enterprise to a 25-employee firm complete with tasting room. Visitors can tour the brewery, taste a couple handfuls of Odell's beers and snag ales to go.

    The Beer
90 Schilling is the company's flagship offering—a malty beer loosely patterned after Scotch-style ale. Cuthroat Porter is a nicely balanced, not-too-roasted porter and the Cuthroat Pale Ale a British-style ale with a nice oomph of flavor and aromtic hops. Odell's also makes a wheat beer and an amber ale.—Marty Jones

more in Restaurants |: denver.citysearch.com When it opened in 1989 it was only the third microbrewery in Colorado. Despite a much more crowded field
today, Odell remains one of the top brewers along the Front Range. East Street Wheat, 90 Shilling, Levity Ale and Cutthroat Porter make up the hit list.

If you can't find these high-quality brews at your local store you can pick them up at the brewery in sixpacks, kegs and
growlers. Tours of the plant are offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the week, and noon to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Tours include complimentary tastings.
