Caring environment, great education 9/3/2010

Both of my sons have attended OakTree Montessori and are now reaping the benefits in elementary school. Our oldest son has gone on to an advanced program, and our younger son has clearly been exceptionally well-prepared for Kindergarten. As wonderful as this is, one of the best things about OakTree is the warm, loving environment. The teachers greet and say good-bye to every child with a hug, and the children are always taught good manners and good treatment of others. I have volunteered at the school and have marveled at how focused and engaged each child is. We miss OakTree and highly recommend it! more

Great Environment 11/30/2009

I enrolled my daughter at OakTree in September 2009. Sensing that my daughter might benefit from a little more structure than was offered at the rec center preschool program she attended before OakTree, I visited a few schools in the area and found OakTree to have the most open, friendly and welcoming envoronment. The teachers are very consistent and thorough with showing preschoolers how to make use of their new-found independence (directing their energy into positive outlets while maintaining respectful rules) rather than making each child 'conform' to the program. With a very strong-willed child, this approach is working wonders for my daughter-- requiring respectful behavior within the group, while allowing room for her to choose her own path. And, of course, there is plenty of outdoor play and creativity along with learning. We are very happy with this school; and, perhaps most importantly, our daughter loves going to school. more

Oak Tree Montessori Inc is awesome for our almost 3 year old! 7/30/2009

My almost 3-year old daughter has been attending this school for the past 6 months. We came from another Montessori where our daughter cried every day when I dropped her off there. She was miserable! Now, she runs into the classroom where she is greeted with big hugs, smiles and happiness. The teachers are also owners with a lengthy history of Montessori teaching experience. They treat my daughter with compassion and respect and her language and writing skills are exploding. She is so happy when she goes there any I don't have to worry about her being unhappy when she goes there every day. I love this place and cannot recommend it enough. If you want a personal reference from our family, leave a note here with your e-mail and I will contact you happily. We couldn't have found a better school for our daughter! more

New Owners, Awesome School! 1/7/2009

Oak Tree Montessori came under new ownership in the Fall of 2007, so reviews from before that period can't really speak to the school that is there now.\r \r My son has been attending the new Oak Tree since it opened, and is now in his second year there. \r \r What's great about this school is that it is truly Montessori. The teachers understand that children develop at their own rate, but they also know when the child is ready for a challenge. As a teacher myself, I know that my son will be well-prepared when he starts kindergarten next year. \r \r The grounds are absolutely beautiful and peaceful with large oak trees and a great big field that is wonderful for nature walks. I'm not religious, but I don't mind the school being on church grounds. It's not all that uncommon for preschools to rent space from churches. The classrooms are clean and uncluttered and the teachers are extremely organized.\r \r Best of all, there is ZERO turn-over at this school. You can expect consistency here, and yo more

I would NEVER reccomend this school!!!!! 7/29/2008

I enrolled my son at this school in the fall of 2006. He was four years old. He just missed the cut off for kindergarten and had to wait until the fall of 2007 to start. He had been in day care previously since he was a baby with no problems! I had a baby and was staying home from work so he had been at home with me for the previous year. I was looking for a school that he could learn and get up to par before he started kindergarten. We had numerous problems at this school. I was told that my son was a problem causer, disruptive to the other kids and that he would not do all of the school work the director asked him to do. The other parents there were very clicky and not friendly at all. Most of them had been there for a few years already. My son was invited to a birthday party which we attended and I was barely spoken to. And because the director of the school talked to other parents about my son, I felt as though my son's every move was being watched. The director was not a warm woma more

a wonderful start to my children's education 5/17/2008

My 5 1/2 year old son is finishing his second year at OakTree, and will return next year to complete the kindergarten curriculum. My 3 1/2 year old daughter is finishing her first year here, and will be back next year as well. Both children look forward to arriving, love the teachers and other children, and are emotionally and academically thriving. The atmosphere is very loving and friendly and the children are well-behaved and nice little kids! The school is NOT associated with the church (on whose grounds it sits) and is next to a beautiful open field. I think the playground is great for this age--room to run and swing and climb and slide and ride trikes and etc. etc!! I am EXTREMELY happy with this school and know that we will be an OakTree family for several more years (as I have a 1 year old who will eventually attend as well).\r \r Do not base your opinion of this school on the website--the directors/teachers are educators and nurturers, not website masters!! I would love t more

Look no further..... 2/16/2008

If you are looking for an environment for your child where they are safe, loved, cared for and learning at their true potential you have found it. My child was taught by both Carmie and Shaina from the ages of 2-6 and I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience they brought to our lives. They were intrumental in her development. Any question, just ask for references, they have a multitude of families just like mine that are willing to share the wonderful experience their child had under these amazing women. more

A Note to Kelea 8/9/2007

Thank you so much for your comments regarding OakTree Montessori. I agree that our web design skills are a work-in-progress. I hope that our 30 plus years of Montessori teaching experience makes up for our lackluster webpage. Rest assured, we are working on it.\r \r We hope you will come by for a visit to see if we are the right school for you.\r \r Thanks. more

old school, new charm 8/9/2007

I recently visited Oaktree with my son and met the teacher and director. They recently purchased this school and wont open till Sept, but did work and play with my son. He is a very anxious and busy little boy with learning challenges. The teachers both interacted with him very well and were able to keep him challenged and at ease. The building and grounds are older, but well taken care of. There seemed to be plenty of Montessori materials and activities in the classrooms. Everything looked and smelled clean, which I was very pleased with. In looking around the classroom, I noted they are meeting the guidelines required by Social Services. Being this is my job expertise, I was very impressed! I am looking forward to their opening so that I can give them the 5 star rating that I expect!! more

Not Up to Standard 8/1/2007

I am in the process of looking for a Montessori school for my twins. I saw a couple signs for Oaktree while I was coming home from work so I asked some friends if they knew anything about the school and checked their website. I was not impressed whatsoever with the website and nobody has heard anything about them. I will keep looking. more

Great School Getting Even Better. 7/30/2007

I toured OakTree and also found the staff to be incredibly warm and comforting. They are also extremely knowledeable about the Montessori method, which is rare these days. \r \r I don't know what the reviewer below was looking at after hours, but the grounds seem very secure and playful. Take it from me, this is the place to be. more

Looked in after hours 7/28/2007

I have been looking for a new montessori school since I recently moved to the area. I just came by this school on a weekend and did not like what I saw. First of all it is located on the grounds of a church and I do not think that montessori should be associated with religious practices that are not mine. The play equipment looked dated and cheap. The grounds were plain and unwelcoming. The grass lot in front seemed perfect hiding place for predators both human and animal and I do not feel safe letting my child go there so I will be looking for another school. more

Oaktree fun 7/9/2007

I toured Oaktree recently and found the school and staff very warm and inviting. The teachers explained the Montessori curriculum and philosophy. My daughter was so happy playing with the teachers that she didn't want to leave. more
