I have been to Dr. Mike and the O'Neal Lane Pet Hospital for about 9 years now, ever since I got my first cat. He and his wonderful staff have helped me care for 4 different cats now, two of which have died over the years. When I had to care for tiny newborn kittens, he and his staff helped me know exactly how to care for them. They showed deep care and concern every time one of my cats was sick, helping me find every option available. They calmed my fears when I was worried about a sick cat and helped dry my tears when I had to say goodbye to my sweet baby kitten, Nova, and my devoted old friend, Suki. They have walked me patiently through each step of caring for my pets and I always love to stop in at the office. They have been generous with my payment schedules and always willing to work with me. They have never pressured me for anything. They have always been willing to go to great lengths to help me and my cats. Since I was so pleased with their care, I even encouraged my family members to take their pets to his clinic. Now Dr. Mike knows my whole family and we all know him. He always asks about my family members when I visit, even my brother who used to take his pets to Dr. Mike before my brother moved out of state. Dr. Mike and his staff truly care about me, my family, and my pets. I feel very close to all of them and will be forever thankful for all that they have done for me and my cats. :) more

One of Baton Rouge's Best! 10/10/2011

Thank heavens for Dr Mike, Dr. Wendy, and his wonderful staff. I run a local animal welfare nonprofit (Project Purr BR), and Dr. Mike and his staff have been vital to our success in saving over 1,200 animals in the past 1.5 years. They have consistently been friendly, helpful, and available to us on a moment's notice. Dr. Mike met me at his office on Christmas day to care for a critically ill kitten. On another occasion, he offered to make a house call on another rescue kitten. He helps us even though there is minimal reimbursement. He exemplifies true passion for helping animals, and we in Baton Rouge are lucky to have him. more

Will Have to Disagree. 9/8/2011

dallas36lady, I would have to respectfully disagree. I have been using Dr. Mike and his staff for a solid 21 years (since they have been in business btw) and the only reason I have done such is that my animals are treated like they are the furry gods. I have swung by other vets before when Dr. Mike wasn't available and they don't come close to the knowledge or care that he and his staff give. I have seen the man suck snot out of a newborns nose to save its life! I highly doubt that he missed something important, or if he did, he would have admitted it and made amends. No one is perfect. There is no doubt. Dr. Mike is probably the most gruff person I have ever met. But that is who he is. I have met his son and they are both strong speakers, so pretty sure it runs in the family. O'neal and its doctor are the most wonderful family and hospital I have ever been to and I recommend and hope that I will be a client here for many more years. more

I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! 5/16/2011

Being new to the city, I chose O'neal Lane Pet Hospital because someone suggested it. I took two shih-tzus for grooming and wrote a note for the groomer explaining how I wanted them groomed. After getting them home, I noticed that she missed numerous spots on both dogs. Called to complain and the vet, Mike Stacy got on the line and told me about some imaginary skin problem one of the dogs had, and proceeded to say that he had the best groomer in the city! However, he conveniently missed a growth the size of grape on the other dog's face! (I couldn't see it until she was groomed.) He was contrite, condescending, abrasive and downright rude. Several days later I told a co-worker about what happened and without telling her who I was talking about, she named him, Dr. Mike Stacy. I will never do business with him again. And I will make sure I tell everyone I know not to waste their money!! If you care about your pet's well being, don't take them here! more

Great 4/8/2010

I have three cats that visit this clinic. They love it. You should see them run to get into the cat carrier to go to the vet!. Ok...well sorta. Pros: Friendly Staff. Excellent husband and wife vet team. Cons: I would like a free puppy with every visit. more

Wonderful with cats! 2/18/2010

After initially taking my new cat to a vet office where it was claimed that he couldn't be controlled, my brother suggested that I take him here after we noticed a wound on his back. When I took him in they had absolutely no problems with him even though they had to use a loud razor to shave around the wound, give him a shot, clean out his wound, and clip his claws. He did wonderfully and they were fabulous with him! I would highly recommend O'neal Lane Pet Hospital for anyone with a cat. They understand that cats being taken to the vet are scared and they know how to interact with them in order to make them feel comfortable. I'm not even getting the usual "post vet visit I hate you for doing this to me" cold shoulder from my cat. He seems completely unfazed by the whole visit, which is incredible. more

Awesome Vet! 5/3/2009

Dr. Mike and his staff are the best! To tell you the history my dog Rudy lived to be 18 years old. Rudy never missed an appointment with Dr. Mike! We were so blessed to have him as our vet! And now I have a dog Bruno who he has seen many times. Dr. Mike treats him like he owns him. Very nice and friendly and always gives him a treat! Dr. Mike is awesome and I suggest you go see for yourself. He has worked wonders and I know with his treatment and knowledge my pets are taken care of! more

LOVE THIS VET 12/1/2008

i would ACTUALLY disagree. Pros: clean, helpful, loving, service, more

worse vet ever 8/20/2008

WORSE VET EVER. I have taken my dogs here for about two years, and I will no longer go back based on their total inability to help my dog, who has a condition that has grown worse thanks to their poor care. After taking him to another vet, who determined in ONE visit that the dog actually was suffering from another more serious condition that O'Neal Lane Pet Hospital overlooked. Pros: No real pro Cons: Bad service, poor skills as vet more
