My wife and I were at the Spokane KOA, headed west in our 20' 1989 ""Jamee"" RV. The coolant level was down 1/2 gallon in one day so I googled some radiator shops in the area. Northwest was the only shop that could manage to look at it that day (Friday). As soon as I pulled in there was a mechanic underneath the hood. He said there were ""tube to header"" leaks, the radiator was shot. Wayne at Northwest did not have the correct replacement, but found one locally that arrived within 1/2 hour. Instead of the aluminum radiator he quoted it was brass and copper, like the original. Within two hours I was on the road again. Could not have had a better experience. PS - I had no idea how much a bad radiator and chronic running hot had been affecting the driveability (uphill acceleration, top comfortable speed) and mileage of this vehicle. more

I was clearly told that it would cost $130 to replace the plastic part of the radiator in my car. I was told the breakdown of fees as follows: $35 for parts, $10 for shipping the parts, $85 for labor. I said ""so, about $130 then?"" and the employee said ""that's right."" So I took my car in the very next day. One week later, they called, said the car was done and the total comes to $308. I asked why it wasn't the $130 he had quoted and he said ""it took longer than one hour of labor, so we added two more hours."" I asked for a manager but that didn't get me anywhere. When I mentioned that I would file with the local chapter of the bureau, he said that ""this call is over"" and he would just talk to the moderator that called. He then added that I wouldn't see my car until I paid the full $308. I feel that I was wronged. I realized that I should have asked for a written estimate, but it is too late for me! I am hoping I can prevent someone else from feelin this way. Buyer Beware! Cons: Inaccurate estimate, condescending treatment. more
