First class dinners 12/15/2008

I stayed at the Shilo Inn for 2 weeks and had most of my meals at the Northwest Grille. The breakfasts were pretty good but it was the dinners that really shined. The fried chicken was amazing with a light, crispy texture. The pork chops were huge and juicy. The fish and chips were stacked about a foot high and had an excellent flavor. I could eat their fish and chips every day. It's a good thing I live far away because otherwise I'd be fat. Oh and I am in love with Misti. She was the best waitress ever. Ever! I mean ever. I've been to lots and lots of restaurants and she is the absolute best. She is very charming and very attentive. Pros: Excellent dinner selections. Great Comfort Food. more

tasteful and memorable visit 9/19/2008

During our weekend stay at the Shilo?s. Me and my friends went down to the restaurant for our breakfast buffet. During this time, we are early birds and like our coffee, and to have time to enjoy a nice little breakfast. Right after our breakfast we were have a nice conversation with each other when our waitress Sara introduced us to a very nice gentlemen by the name of Mark. He was very kind and concerned about how are stay was, and the meals that were prepared for us. Sara and Mark both took the time to visit with us and other guest of the restaurant. It was very appreciated that they would take the time to see the needs of the guest and what they would like to see come into the restaurant. Needles to say me and my friends felt that our concerns and enjoyment were most important to them, the breakfast was very tasteful the whole experience was a memorable one and that we well be returning again... more

wow !! breakfast not like they use to be.. 12/28/2007

we were told to try this place out and but from my suprise the place looked nice , but it had its down falls. we had breakfast there one saturday morning. me and my-coworkers , we orderd omletts ,early breakfast . well that was an experance that tought me a lesson on ever going back, first the service was slow and the staff seem to have atitudes with eachother, and with us, not a good atmosphere.. the omletts cheese was not melted and asked the waitress to please make another . she smurked and fine, the next one came out with no ham.. how can you forget ham on a ham and cheese omlette..my co-worekers eggs werent cooked right and the gravy tasted slightly burnt,,we were unhappy, never to return.I learned my lesson, The week pryer we had an outstanding breakfast at a place called "The WestSlope" I wish more places could learn from there home style atmosphere... not the the northwest grill, looks really can be decieving..... more

Ugh 12/20/2007

in a word, "Ugh". Typical hotel restaurant food. I had the "Meat Lover's Scramble". The spuds were cool, there wasn't much meat, and the cheese on top wasn't melted. One of the others in the group had the same thing and I think she got all the meat. Service was nice enough. I belong to a small group (2 couples) [4forbreakfast] who go to breakfast most every Saturday morning around town. We've had many good meals and many so-so over the past 5 years. In order for us to consider going back, the place has to rate 3 stars. I wouldn't go back here. Pros: Quiet. Liked the fireplace Cons: Food was cool and not real tasty more

Grossy-grossness x 2!!!! 10/5/2007

I wrote one other review regarding this establishment, but it magically disappeared from the website. I think the biggest thing to note, if you actually decide to go here, is the lack of other patrons in the restaurant. This place is gross. There's really nothing else to say. My mom stayed in the hotel here 2x while visiting me. Both times we dined at the restaurant. I think, even though the 1st time was horrific, we decided to give it another chance because we were lazy and didn't want to deal with crowds, etc. (the signs of a "good" restaurant.) It's not to say that the waitstaff was not friendly, actually they were really friendly. The atmosphere is decent too, but the food is absolutely terrible. Both times I dined at this restaurant my food arrived cold. The 2nd time I actually had the gumption to send it back....and received the same plate back (microwaved I imagine) with a really hot, dry, and overly-salted halibut steak. I don't know where all of the "good" reviews are coming from, but I'm definately skeptical of legitimacy in reviewing here. If you have other choices (i.e. you're not stranded here, and on the verge of death from lack of food)...then partake of them. If nothing else, the Burger King down the road will at least provide you with a HOT meal. Pros: Parking...no one else is there Cons: Everything else that matters (the FOOD). more

you have got to be kidding! 7/5/2007

All I can say is: this place is a dump, food is mediocre-at best and the other reviews must be from the owners or staff. It's too bad this place is going down hill, but they pretend to be up-scale (see website) and they are not. Cons: not consistent with the other reviews or their website more

Maybe it was a bad night, but we were not impressed 6/4/2007

We had read such great reviews on this website, but we found the food and service average to below average; especially considering they are asking a fair price for their food and the owners sell this place as though it is an upscale establishment. We ordered the prime rib and it was difficult to get a rare piece, so when it arrived cold, we figured that was as pink as it would get. Food is mediocre, service is clueless. I think if this was a Mom and Pop diner that charged half the price, it would be more successful, but they try to be upscale and fail miserably! Their website is excellent, and we were hoping it would live up to our expectations, but sadly it did not. We should have known when there was no one else in the restaurant on a Saturday night. We aren't going to give this another chance, at least not for dinner. Pros: parking Cons: atmosphere, cuisine more

Top romantic spot in Beaverton 6/4/2007

What a wonderful time we had on Saturday night, after an electrical fire drove us from our home on Saturday afternoon we found our selves setting up shop for the evening at the Shilo Inn. The restaurant there "NorthWest Grille" was the best thing about the place. We arrived for dinner at 8pm. The menu was amazing and varied something for all of us even our 12 year old vegetarian was happy. After dinner we put the kids to bed in the room and headed back to the lounge for karaoke. The staff was warm and friendly, very sensitive to our situation and our needs. They even served us our free breakfast to go so that we wouldn't be late for church on Sunday morning. What a great experience they made out of our tragedy. Thanks Northwest Grille and special thanks to Misti and Jaycie!! Pros: The friendly helpful caring staff Cons: I couldn't find one!! more

Fun friendly atmosphere and Delicious food too! 3/9/2007

My fiance and I decided to travel west from our usual haunts in the NW of Portland and try this restaurant we had heard about from our friends. Needless to say we were very impressed with stunning service, smiling faces, and an amazing meal. It was a good change from the norm of Portland dining experiences. Kudos to the staff at the Northwest Grille, I hoped they liked us because we will be back again and again. Pros: great Service, great food, what more could you ask for Cons: none more

friendliest staff in the world 2/25/2007

We have definitely become regulars at Northwest Grille!! The staff is always so friendly and beyond that helpful. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere can not be beat. We love the Karoke and the patio by the pool. Pros: Friendly, smart, helpful staff Cons: none that I could find more

Best Prime Rib 2/25/2007

Saturday night I was looking for a place to have dinner and enjoy a good cigar. When I came across this restaurant. I decided to try it. I ate dinner in the cigar bar. I had the Prime Rib which is the best I have ever had. The bartenders were friendly an attentive to my needs. They were even knowledgable about the cigars they offer. I enjoyed the experience will go back. Pros: Service and knowledge of product more

No reservations needed, bad service, worse food 2/20/2007

My husband and I were looking for a restaurant to have a date night and enjoy a great meal in a romantic atmosphere. We stumbled upon this website and after reading the reviews we made reservations. What a mistake. We arrived on a saturday night at 7pm, and quickly realized we wasted our time making reservations. There were only two tables occupied. When we placed our orders we were informed that they were out of some of the selections (because they were so busy?!?), then the waitress brought out our salads before our appetizer, were they out of that too?... nope she forgot to place the order! When our entree arrived my mashed potatoes were cold and my husbands scallops were overcooked. Everything about the dining experience was bad. Luckily we were able to salvage our night and we got a table at the Portland City Grill. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, in fact I get a good laugh telling people how bad it was. Cons: bad food/service more

BEST STEAKS EVER 2/18/2007

So I forgot to make a reservation for Valentine's Day. I know it was stupid. But the nice folks at Northwest Grille got me and my boyfriend right in. Even though they were so super busy with people who obviously had reservations. They sat us by the fireplace, they even had a special menu just for the holiday. It was so romantic and then......doug got down on one knee and proposed!!! I just can't imagine a better more romantic place for it to have happened. I think we will even get married there. The server brought us out a free desert and dinner was amazing. What a great time with great people. Pros: The staff is amazing, the drinks are stiff, and the steaks are to die for. more

Old Friends Won't Let You Down 12/9/2006

For all of you that were regulars at the late/great Sayler's Old Country Kitchen in Beaverton (Closed last year and is now a shopping mall-is this progress?) you'll be very pleased to learn that the wonderful staff (I won't mention any names but you'll recognize them all!) that served you there for all those years have found a new home at Northwest Grille. FINALLY something GREAT has come to the Shilo Inn (formerly Nendells) in Beaverton on the corner of Canyon Road and Walker Road! I'm not here to knock the Shilo, but let's just say that since the transition from Nendells to Shilo the restaurant has gone through as many incarnations as Shirley McLane, and all of them about as attractive(sorry all you SM fans). This is one of the NICEST venue's available in the Portland area and by far the BEST in the Beaverton area. And best of all it now serves GREAT FOOD! Pleeese do yourself a favor and try the Northwest Grille (the Sunday brunch is WONDERFUL!). Pros: Smoking upstairs(cigar bar);NON-smoking in the lounge. GREAT happy hour menu too! more

amazing service 12/3/2006

My co-workers and I attended our yearly holiday party at Northwest Grille this past Saturday. In past years we have been to just about every venue on the west side. This was the best. The food was amazing the service was incredible. Our personal bartender Rebecca took care of everything. This was just about the sweetest most personable girl I have ever met. The drinks were out of this world and everyone at the grille was willing to bend over backwards to make our night just incredible. What a fabulous job they all did. I am sure that we will be back again and again. Pros: great service, amazing food more

Great Sports Bar 11/27/2006

This really is the best kept secret on the west side. Big comfy couches and chairs, cute female bartenders and great service. Cigar and sports bars with any class at all are hard to find. I'll be back again and again. Pros: easy parking, good atmosphere, great service. more

northwest grill & bar 11/17/2006

Me and my husband visited northwest grill for a morning breakfast. During our visit the atmosphere was very warming & home felt with the beautiful fireplace burning. The waitress was very kind and professional. But what was most memeriable was how picky my husband is with his biscutes and gravy. One of the cooks by the name of mark greeted us with a cup of coffee and said "he gaurantee's that you will love our gravy". My husband needless to say he loved the gravy and the hospitality that was shown to us too make sure we were pleased. It is not often that you get to meet the person that cooks your order that would come out with a smile and make sure that we were pleased. More places should be like Norhwest grill, that the hospitality and the warm smiles that come from all the employees should be felt by others. I recommend the breakfast's are worth stopping for, no matter the time. We will be visiting more often and bringing our friends. Pros: good parking, excellent service.great food, friendly faces more

Amazing Food and Service 10/29/2006

I was at Northwest Grille three weeks ago for an Eddie May Murder mystery show with my husband, we had such a great time and the food was so great that we came back for our daughters birthday this past sunday. The brunch was incredible, what a lay out and what a value. This is our new favorite place to be. Pros: The food, the service, the atmosphere Cons: Its far from Oregon City. more
