Not impressed so far 1/3/2012

I recently switched to NWS for my first pregnancy. Unfortunately, I am quite disappointed so far. I am 20 weeks pregnant and have yet to see the same doctor more than once. I get different answers to the same questions at each appointment. There is no one at their practice that is looking out for my care. They give you a packet of dos/don'ts/etc at the first appointment and then you're on your own. If I don't ask about something, then it doesn't happen. I missed the opportunity to do the first trimester screening - I didn't know to ask for it. If I hadn't pressed the issue, I would not have gotten a referral for the 20-week ultrasound. If this is your 2nd+ pregnancy, you might be ok here. But this is not a good practice for your first pregnancy. Too much is in your own hands. I am hoping that my experience with them improves as I get farther along. At this point in my pregnancy I don't want to change doctors. I've also paid them quite a bit upfront for the delivery per their policy. more

Great Practice, Had a great experience! 11/28/2011

I can't describe how wonderful all the midwives were with me throughout my pregnancy. Very caring, supportive, informative and always ready to answer any questions or concerns. They will always suggest what is best for your health and your baby. I saw all the midwives and they all made me feel comfortable and exceeded my expectations. I particularly chose Judy Fielder because of her years of experience and her great reviews but I would have been comfortable with any other midwife. I delivered my first child with both Judy and Wanda (great team) and they were both very supportive throughout my 30 hour labor. Judy stayed past her shift to deliver our child together with Wanda which I thought that was very nice of her and I am glad because I wanted her to be there. I am very satisfied and glad that I more

Great practice. 7/28/2010

I can't say enough good things about NWS. They saw me through two pregnancies. I was a patient of the midwife team and would have been comfortable with any of them handling my delivery. In both experiences - a daughter 11/06 and son 8/09 - the midwives exceeded my expectations. I couldn't have asked for better medical treatment, support and professionalism. And, truth be told - I'm extremely critical of medical practices, it's rare I find one where I feel so comfortable. And, in my second pregnancy, I credit the midwife in helping me avoid a miscarriage. She trusted her instincts to triple check (with ultrasound) the position of the baby at 36 weeks, confirmed he was breech and helped me explore non-invasive options to help him turn. In addition, the front desk staff is extremely friendly, responsive and helpful in making appointments - even on short notice. And the nurses couldn't be more wonderful and responsive. Every time I've called with questions they've returned my calls very fast and usually, I only have to wait 10-20 minutes. Pros: Professional, caring, GREAT practice. Cons: none. more

NWS doctors 1/31/2010

Just to clarify, Dr. Gumer, Dr. Glander, and the other doctor named in the previous review are not a part of Northside Women's Specialists. You can see the list of doctors and midwives with their biographies on their website. Please do not mistake NWS with Northside Hospital. They are two completely separate entities, although NWS does deliveries at Northside Hospital as well as many other private practices in Atlanta. more

Great Practice 11/30/2009

I am in the middle of my pregnancy and am very pleased with the the staff, doctors and midwives at this point. Everything has not been perfect. However, whenever I have mentioned my concern about anything it has been handled immediately and to my satisfaction. I especially like that my assigned doctor is so personable. The entire staff seems to be extremely knowledgeable and for that I am grateful. Pros: Timely Appts; Easy to Schedule appts; great staff Cons: Small rooms more

great practice 8/11/2009

It is true as other reviewers stated that the person you see for your pregnancy may not be who delivers you. This is fairly obvious in a multi-doctor practice. My first child was delivered by my doctor, my second was delivered by one of the 3 doctors who alternate rounds. With my second child it turned out I loved the doctor who delivered me, even more then my ""assigned"" doctor who delivered my first child and I was very happy with. Dr. Gumer and Dr. Grahm are wonderful. They are a conservative practice and do not like women to go over 41 weeks but will let you go to 42 if you request and induction was never mentioned with my child until I was 40 weeks. They also didn't do a lot of internals at the end (I think 39 weeks was the first) which I really liked as well. After giving birth to two children through their practice, with the two doctors listed above i could not be happier with the practice. There are pro's and con's to a multi-doctor practice and I was very happy with my doctors at Northside Women's Specialist. Pros: fantastic doctors Cons: multi-doctor practice more

Horrible Fraud of a practice - should be shut down 10/24/2007

Guaranteed they keep you waiting for an hour for each visit. They waste your time and money on unnecessary tests and retests. How many ultrasounds do you need? They also don't even answer the phone. Our ""Doctor"" (Susan Glander) was not even present at the birth. No wonder they forgot to collect the cord stem cells - of course they said that was ""too bad"". Epidural was a waste of $1200, wife was still in pain. I will never use this clinic again. Pros: Close Cons: Waste of Money - ripoff. more

Really BAD!!!!! Call all the time for unnecessary test & Ultrasounds 9/11/2007

They are absolutely horrible. All they care about is converting a simple case of normal delivery into a C-section to make money. We made a mistake in choosing them as our doctors for my wife delivery. It was suppose to be a simple case without no complications but they made us to go to their own fetal specialist just 1 day before the due date and scared us that amniotic fluid ?MIGHT? dry and baby might be at stress, so get admit to the Northside Hospital the same day, which we did. Then they put her on pitocin they whole night to induce labor followed by epidural, then heavy dose of pitocin to enhance labor. After doing all that, they inject her to lower labor pain (why would they lower labor pain once they gave pitocin to enhance labor even when baby is not at stress?) just to get it towards C-Section to make money.\r \r In the end our Midwife shouted and told us to either get a C-Section or ?GETOUT OF NORTHSIDE HOSPITAL?. She also mention to my wife on her face when she was in pain that ? BEING MY WIFE?S MID WIFE IS THE WORST NIGHT FOR HER?. Imagine hearing this when you are in labor!!!!\r \r In the end, my girl was delivered by C-section (Total cost $22,000 of which I have to pay 20%) Pros: none that i could think of Cons: Bad Attitude, Midwifes with no experience, Call you for unnecessary appointment and procedures to make money more
