I simply had to post a review, after 5/30/2012

I simply had to post a review, after seeing the negative reviews. I don't doubt their experiences; I just want to tell you mine. My wife had life saving surgery there two weeks ago. The surgeons were gods. They were wonderful and made me feel so much better during my moments of doubt and fear. ALL of the staff at ICU couldn't have been nicer. They treated my wife as a loved one. ALL of the staff on the other floors (as my wife improved and was moved to less critical-care areas) were caring and loving. If I were a millionaire, I'd be one of those donors framed on the wall, because I am eternally grateful to the doctors and nurses at this hospital. 5/30/12 Pros: null Cons: null more

Come here if you want to die! 3/11/2012

This place is the WORST hospital I have ever experienced. They diagnosed a friend of mine with lung cancer, then removed 1/3 of his right lung, MISSING a second tumor on the same lung. 8 months later, the tumor they missed has spread, and now he is dying, leaving behind 2 young children (6 and 9 years old). The second time, he went to Cedars where they informed him that Northridge mistakenly did NOT remove the 2nd tumor (it was on the x-ray from the beginning). The nursing staff constantly complained to me and his family that they are stretched to thin because of the "bad management" in the hospital. 2 Nurses there suggested that we take him to a different hospital, as even they would not bring a loved one there. WE SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THEIR ADVICE! Then come to find out that his one doctor caring for him is what they call a family doctor....they have no business treating really sick people, they are only family doctors with no idea of what the heck is going on. The family doctors they have working there are total bottom of the barrel, not sure where they dug them up from but they have no idea about medicine. After my friend had surgery, one of the family doctors told my friends wife that he had a stroke, when he didn't! The story goes on and on.....HORRIBLE care, HORRIBLE doctors, HORRIBLE management. Pros: null Cons: null more

Horrific 2/21/2011

My mother was treated for breast cancer at the Leavey Cancer Center, and severely suffered. For whatever reason, she was not given a port for her initial chemotherapy session; they administered it into her arm. She was left her with a three inch gaping hole in her arm due to infiltration. I begged her to seek treatment elsewhere and sue this place, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She died less than a year and a half after her diagnosis and was in severe pain the entire time. The majority of pain was due to her arm and the number of surgeries she had to undergo because of it. My mother did not need to suffer MORE pain in addition to the cancer itself. I implore, no, BEG anyone who is diagnosed with cancer to seek treatment elsewhere. more

My Mother could have died......... 8/11/2010

In March my 89 year old Mother was admitted to Northridge Hospital to correct some blood chemical imbalances. She was there for about a week and was sent home with a "She's fine". 5 months later, on August 10 her primary care doctor discovered a small note in the back of the hospital records which caught us all off balance. The hospital had noted that they had diagnosed her with congestive heart failure and that she needed to see a Cardiologist immediately. They also had some kidney concerns and noted that she should see a Urologist as soon as possible. more

I loved northridge 6/8/2010

I'm so suprised at all the negative reviews. Ive had nothing but wonderful expieriences at northridge they took WONDERFUL care of me everytime I went in there. And 2 out of 3 times i had to have surgury. while I was of course very sick. the first time appendicitis. the second time just some pain and the third time a bowel blockage due to the scar tissue. They were always so nice and kind. Alot of these are talking about YEARS ago I believe so maybe things have changed? Everytime I went in there a head person came in asking if we had any complaints and I always gave a raving compliment. I hope to deliver my baby there. My husband was also born there. more

Very Bad Hospital 3/10/2010

I am only writing this because I don't want others to make the same horrible mistake like I did. My husband came in Northride, not on perfect health, but in fair condition overall, he came out almost death. Pros: Some of the staffs are kind Cons: They don't know what the heck they are doing more

They will kill you at Northidge Hospital 1/18/2010

my wife is in CCU at northridge hospital. Every day i come to see her and she has problems from pain, to mass herself, to Ipain med IV pulled out, and their standard answer is "we were jus in here and it wasn't like that" I walked in one day and they had re-taped her breathing tube, which was cutting into her upper lip so bad her lip was purple and cut into her lip on both sides, and he her whole mouth was taped shut, the nurse was standing right there and i asked why she let this stay like this and she replied she just got there and had things to do, and she didn't do it the breathing guy did, as she pointed across the hall, I went to them, they said as well they didn't do it , it was the guy before them, i had to call the supervisor at home on her cell, she had to call the head nurse, and when the head nurse got there she stated thats not right and only after that did any one start to fix it, she had been like that for about 3 hours and by then the tap had cut into both sides of her upper lip. On top of it, where she had been taped up, her skin was raw, they said they change the tap everyday, and i said you mean you see her skin like that and you just re-tape over it for 2 weeks, this fool says to me don't put words in my mouth, this fool wasn't man enough to come out side and say that to me out on the street, i wonder why??. every day it was something, today i walk in and my wife's eyes were wide open which they never have been for 2 weeks, and she crying, cringing in pain, i run out in the hall and scream for a nurse, some big pig walks up and i say why u do this, she screams at me and i mean screams at me "I just got here" I told her to go to hell before i have her thrown in jall. the nurse that was suppose to be taking care of her comes in I point out blood all over her arms near an IV, they touch it, the IV had come out, it was the IV with the meds to keep her clam with tubes down her throth. Again, I get the same excuse "I was just in here" I said that is dried blood, how long has she been like this. The pig nurse couldn't respond ( guess what, this nurse all day refused to take care of my wife, won't give her meds or anything) when I aske if she had gotten meds to clam her down the pig nurse said she didn't see that med in her chart, the doctor shows up, i ask the pig nurse again please give her something , again she refused and said she had to talk to the doctor first. this women is very lucky i she was a women. or i would have beat the living shit out of her. these people need to be put in pain, and done to them as they have done to the people they are suppose to be takingcare of. I have started to document everything these pig nurse do and don't do, what they say and don't say. What is really wrong is, there are nurses that have taken care of my wife and treat her like she was family, then there has been just as many that don't care and won't do a thing if they don't like you, no matter what the paent needs. I have pictures of my wifes lip before and after. They did the same thing to her lower lip and it took all day to correct it i took pictures of that as well. if you need names i have them. but i won't leave my love ones in this hospital alone what so ever, if they had to be there, if you have any other choce take it no matter how far away it is. the care of a love one is more important. Pros: worst hospital in town Cons: no supervision more

How about some good news 10/10/2009

Unfortunately it is only the ones who are unhappy that generally write things. I was a high risk pregnancy, with High Blood Pressure and having twins. I had to go to the ER on a couple of occassions with premature labor and Blood Pressure out of control. The ER nurses were so compassionate and helpful. They treated me quickly and sent me to Labor and Delivery for futher treatment. Pros: Great Nursing care Great Hospital Cons: none more

the worst hospital in the world. 7/16/2009

northridge hospital medical center is the worst hospital in the world. several years ago I could not pass urine due large prostate. my wife sent me to emergency room in northridge hospital. the clerck with pink clothes wanted me sit there. I was so painful because my urine could not come out. I called that clerk with pink clothes to get DR. she yelled to me '"shut up!" said " you must wait a couple of hours, it is normal". more

BEWARE OF NORTHRIDGE HOSPITAL 6/30/2009

Worried, my sister came to this hospital 2 weeks prior to her cesarian because she had a very high fever at only 8 mo.pregnant. The doctor condescended to her that she was fine and only needed tylenol as if she was making a big deal out of nothing. Trusting him,she went home as instructed, only to get worse. She called the Dr. who never returned one call, and tried to toughen up as long as she possibly could until we all insisted that she go back despite the Dr.s callous behavior. When she arrived, she literally couldnt breathe and they had to preform a premature e.r. cesarian. The next day she caught pneumonia and has been asleep 24/7 for 3 wks straight. The staff has been so horribly lazy and obstiante, we wanted to transfer her to another hospital, but found out the actual physical move could be fatal. Now we all just wait as she never improves. We believe this could have been prevented had the Dr. just treated her humanely and with dignity when she first complained abt her symptoms. Now the only explanation the Dr. gives us is just that she is "sick". Yeah, obviously, but why? And what could they have done to prevent it from happening? Do not go here or bring anyone you care about here! They do not care about their patients or the patients family - its all red tape. Pros: nothing good Cons: inhumane and dangerously lazy, obstinate staff. more

Beware of the triage nurse with no critical thinking skills. 1/31/2008

My grandmother had a stroke and I brought her to the emergency room. I wrote her name on the sign in sheet as well as the signs and symptoms of stroke ie very high blood pressure 200/120, one side of body is limp, facial drooping on one side, slurred speech, HELLO!!!. I verbally informed the triage nurse that my grandmother may have sufferred a stroke but she did not even bother to look at her and just told me to wait. I kept on telling the triage nurse that my grandmother need to be seen immediately. It took about an hour before she was finally taken inside. When we got inside, her blood pressure was checked and it was still very high. Nothing was done. We were made to wait again. No IVs, no discussion of plan of care. The interns came after about about 40 minutes with finally a plan of treatment for my grandmother.\r My grandmother's conditioned worsened. When I visited her the following day, she did not recognize any of us, she cannot talk, A few weeks later she died.\r Thi more

I was treated very badly here. 9/27/2007

I am a computer trainer and curriculum developer. I have a good head on my shoulders but last year I developed somatic complaints that went without diagnosis. I began having a very serious case of insomnia where I would not be able to sleep at all for 24 hours or more. I estimate I had about four or five hours of sleep a week! I lost a lot of weight, I was down to 89 pounds and could no longer drive a car, read, write or carry on a conversation. Pros: The food was actually good. Cons: The medical clearly staff lacked compassion. I was not treated with repect and dignity. more
