The best Veterinarian in the Triangle, paws down! 9/30/2008

Dr. Darch and his staff provide excellent, friendly, and professional service. They listen, and they will treat your pet as if it was their own. Dr. Darch helped me through the most difficult time in any pet owner's life: the passing of a beloved companion. When my old dog, Simon had a stroke at the ripe age of 15, there was no choice but to put him down. Dr. Darch was compassionate, gentle, patient, and understanding.\r \r Best of all, their fees are very reasonable. If you have a specific need, you won't get stuck with a long laundry list of additional services that serve primarily to fluff up your bill. Even with these crazy gasoline prices, it's still well worth the drive.\r \r I live in downtown Raleigh, but North Wake Animal Hospital is still the only vet I will use (and yes, I've tried 2 others, for the sake of comparison). I've been taking my pets there for more than 20 years now. That pretty much says it all. If you're looking for the best veterinarian clinic in town, congratulations... you found it! Pros: Excellent service at a very reasonable price. Cons: It's a little out of the way for me, but still well worth the drive. more

Impatient doctors but inexpensive general checkups/vaccines 4/11/2008

North Wake is okay if you're just looking to get a general checkup, standard vaccines or an uncomplicated procedure like a spay/neuter because they're so inexpensive. However, I highly recommend you look elsewhere if your pets are having actual medical issues. \r The doctors are impatient and rude. On several occasions when I brought my cat in for health concerns they ignored the answers that I gave for their questions, ignored MY questions, and rushed me out the door. \r The attitude of the desk staff ranges from acceptable to extremely condenscending, and they mispelled the names of 2 of my 3 cats even after I provided the correct spelling. \r The vet techs/assistants were nice, though. Pros: Inexpensive, nice vet techs/assistants, walk-ins welcome Cons: Rude/impatient vets, condescending desk staff, long wait times more

Take your pets elsewhere 1/31/2008

We have been taking our dog to Dr. Darch for several years now concerning lumps and growths found. Every time we are told that ""He is a boxer, they are prone to skin conditions"", and no tests were performed and nothing was done. During our last visit we were told the same story, two days later our dog could not walk at all. We rushed him to the emergency vet and found out that he has cancer, and it is too late to help him now. If you care about your pets and their prolonged life, I urge you to please take your pets elsewhere for care. more

Primitive hospital, dirty facility, impatient doctor 6/13/2007

It is the year 2007, and I have not been to an establishment that did that have their patients and personal information in a computer database. It is no wonder that this facility is ""cheap"" and ""inexpensive"" as some users have commented. They are completely disorganized and could not find my records. Perhaps it was ""alphabetized"" incorrectly, but who uses the Dewey decimal system anymore? The doctor was impatient and took his frustrations out on me because he could not find the paperwork he needed. Most of the medications are old and outdated. The facilities were dirty and smelled badly. I noticed a pool of urine on the corner of the examination room that we were assigned to. Overall, bad experience and would not recommend this place to anyone! Cons: Dirty, disorganized, rude doctor more

Best vet in Triangle Area - Dr. Darch 8/8/2006

Having done dog rescue in North Carolina for the past ten years, I have met many. many vets and dealt with many dog related problems along the way. Dr. Darch and associates at the North Wake Animal Hospital in Wake Forest, NC are the best vets in the Triangle area. They truly care about all animals and work to find the best health solution for all pets. In addition to various rescue dogs, we have EIGHT personal dogs and drive 20+ miles one way to visit Dr. Darch and his staff. Dr. Darch has always given each dog time and attention to review the entire health of the animal (not just the problem we are there to assess) - this extra step of treatment has allowed us to be proactive with the dogs' health. The office requires cash or check payment at time of service (no credit cards or debit cards) to keep the costs down which is also a plus! No appointments are needed so be prepared for a little wait unless a true emergency. Dr. Darch and staff are well worth the wait and the drive to Wake Forest! Pros: wonderful, compassionate vet care at reasonable prices Cons: slight wait may occur since no appointments are taken more

Best Veterinarian in Wake County 6/28/2006

Our dog was recently diagnosed with a torn ACL. The vet we normally take him to wanted to charge us $1500 - $3000 to repair. A friend referred us to Dr. Darch at North Wake Animal Hospital who did the surgery for $330. The leg healed terrifically and my dog is now doing great. They do not take appointments, so you may wait due to the popularity of this Vet, however it was well worth the wait. Dr. Darch is committed to the well-being of animals, and does so in a fashion that does not drain the ole wallet. We now take our pets 35 miles out of our way to go to Wake Forest to see Dr. Darch. Pros: Cost, experience, knowledge Cons: Possible wait more
