We have gone to North Pole City every year since my 11 year old daughter was born as a family tradition. We don't live in OKC but come here from Kansas City to go. We went for our annual trip here today to see Santa. Shortly after we arrived, my niece went to get tickets for my daughter to ride the train with my 3 year old great niece - a tradition they have had every year since my niece was born. My daughter came running to me and I could tell she was upset. She wouldn't tell me what was wrong, but finally burst into tears. They had told her that she wasn't allowed to ride the train anymore because she was too tall. She was a few inches too tall to get on the train now.
I talked to the manager and they said that those are the rules and they don't break rules there. They were very rude and had absolutely NO customer service during this conversation even when I explained that this was our Christmas tradition to start our holiday season.
We finished our time in here shortly thereafter (and I didn't make the purchases I'd planned to because of how they responded). Several other customers inquired as to what was wrong and I explained to them the story of this and they were appalled that they would not let a little girl (who just happens to be tall for her age), ride the train. We will be finding a new family tradition for my daughter now. I felt heartbroken for my daughter because the Christmas was sucked out of her special day.
I LOVE Christmas so this place used to be special to me, but I won't be patonizing this store again. I had planned to spend more than normal here because I support local small businesses and this is Small Business Saturday. Their prices have always been high here but we still kept coming back because it was a special experience where we could all pick out our new ornament for the year here. We didn't do that for the first time this year because of our soured experience.
