Must See 7/31/2005

The North Carolina Museum of History is a must see in downtown Raleigh. Spend an afternoon learning about North Carolina’s history. I have always enjoyed the exhibits the museum has to offer, especially those dedicated to the civil war and Wright brothers. On my last visit I was also lucky enough to watch a play put on by a local church during Black History month. Admission is free and you can also rent the facilities. more

Looking for a great way to spend a day? The NC Museum of History offers high-quality programs and exhibits on a wide variety of topics. Representative exhibits include a collection of African American quilts made in NC from the civil war to just after WWII; objects collected for the museum by the Thirtieth Heavy Separate Brigade of the NC Army National Guard engaged in Operation Iraqi Freedom; objects used by the Office of Strategic Services (a predecessor to the CIA) in operations during WWII; exhibits highlighting health care in NC including conventional medicine, self-care, faith and other healing systems; a NC sports hall of fame; and an exhibit focusing on the struggle for racial equality among African Americans and Native Americans in NC from the 1860s to the late 20th Century. more
