Norman Rockwell Museum 8/19/2005

Located in picturesque Stockbridge, Massachusetts, in the beautiful Berkshires, the Norman Rockwell Museum is an inspirational treat. I love nostalgia and the wholesome values his work portrays, and I wasn't disappointed. It was such a treat to see his illustrations, his studio, and various other memorabilia up close. The museum itself is lovely, and the grounds are, too. This was a unique and memorable way to spend an afternoon. more

Great museum 8/19/2005

This museum, housed in Norman Rockwell's summer home, reflects on the life and art of the painter who for several decades painted the definitive picture of American life in the Saturday Evening Post magazine. Thus, the museum is as much a tribute to Americana, as it is an insight into the life of the artist himself. As such, it will interest not only lovers of Norman Rockwell's art, but also people who are interested in cultural history and/or just want to reminisce on life in America as it once was, looked at through a humorous eye and devoid of cynicism. more

Charming! 8/18/2005

A charming location with spacious grounds to wander around, sprinkled with sculpture. The museum itself is quite extensive with lots and lots of prints. The tours are either in groups with a tour guide, or individual via audio. Both are good options. The gift shop has tons of print reproductions and postcards, as well as other gift items. The bathrooms are small for the size of the building (about three or four stalls) which can lead to a line at times, however, they are clean, if old looking. The parking is a dream with tons of room in a gravel parking lot. The walk to the building can be far for those who have issues walking or are wearing inappropriate footwear. more
