The food is just as amazing at home as it is in their restaurant. So on the nights you can't get a table but you are craving one of their amazing dishes just order it for pick-up ...

The last time I tried to eat at Nook, our party of three walked in to an EMPTY restaurant, ready to spend money, and we were told we had to have a reservation. We said, ""but the...

Have a look at Nook 10/27/2005

I recently went for the third time and once again, was reminded that I need to visit Nook more often. Great food for such a reasonable price. The salad that accompanies the (giant) pork chop is divine, as is the braised short rib. The chocolate banana bread pudding is a must! A modern but quaint joint with great service. Pros: great value, good food Cons: communal table more

Good Times 7/13/2005

My boyfriend and I had a great experience at The Nook. Our server, Jess (or Jen) was totally welcoming and informative. We sat at the bar and my boyfriend who isn't a big foodie loved the mussells and we both loved the mac and cheese. We'll definitely be back. more

User review by lilysong 6/26/2005

A lovely surprise: Beverly Hills cuisine hidden in a shopping mall in West L.A. Our party of four tried the steak, hamburger, chicken and herbed pork chop with rave reviews by every diner. The warm brownie with vanilla gelato sent us to heaven twice, and the blueberry shortbread made us all stop talking. This restaurant was a real treat we'll all try again and again. Pros: excellent food choice, great service Cons: crowded and noisy more

I'll eat it all! 5/10/2005

Heard about Nook, but was surprised to find it hidden in a drab strip mall. I was relieved to find the ambience inside really pleasing, and the food ... I could have ordered the whole menu! I ordered wine, an entree', a side and dessert - it was all scrumptious, and reasonably priced! I'm coming back to try more things on the menu. Pros: Delicious food, reasonable prices, tasteful ambience Cons: difficult parking, yucky strip mall, difficult reservation more

Great bisro, I'm hooked 5/9/2005

Nook is well done, from atmosphere, to the food and wine, and the warm, helpful and friendly staff. It's an excellent experience. I've taken several different sets of friends with me and there has been broad agreement - great, warm, neighborhood bistro. I'm literally mystified reading some of the other reviews here, they are so counter to anything I've experienced, I'm thinking these other people have the wrong place or are running anti-nook propaganda for some nearby restaurant that can't keep up with the competition. I'd recommend a reservation, or a call ahead to see if they can take a walk in. They're doing well, and that's certainly not something you can hold against them. BRAVO NOOK! Pros: Great Menu, Easy Parking, Excellent Value more

The Perfect Bistro 3/30/2005

My boyfriend and I have eaten at Nook several times and have always had a delightful experience. Every item on the menu that we have tried (and we've tried almost everything!) has been a piece of perfection. The chicken paillard is delectable, the burger is deliciously indulgent, and the steak frites - sumptuous. We are huge food enthusiasts who recently moved from New York to LA and were so happy to stumble across Nook - a perfect, unpretentious little bistro. I was sorry to read that others were unsatisfied by the service. We have always felt welcome at Nook and have had excellent service and are constantly bringing family and friends along for dinner. It is small, though, so be sure to make reservations or arrive early, especially on the weekends as they get extremely busy. I also recommend sitting at the cozy bar if there are no tables available. more

Beware of the Maitre d'/Owner 3/17/2005

We will not enter this restaurant nor encourage others to this restaurant. If you are looking for good service, there are so many options in town. The maitre d'/owner is rude and short tempered. Maybe he was having a bad day but, he literally walked away from us when we arrived at 7:30 p.m. for a table of 4 and we were told there were no tables available until 9 p.m. The day before we were told they only reserve 1/2 the restaurant is reserved in advance. There were no apologies, no smiles, nothing but a walk away from the situation. more

Attitude 3/17/2005

We went to this place twice. The first time our food choices were ok, even so some of the dishes to our taste were over-designed beyond being inventive to the point of being artificial. The second time the host seem to have - as a minimum - a bad day. On the phone we had been denied a reservation with the claim that halve of the seats are assigned first-come first-serve. This turned out to be wrong, we could not be seated within 2 hours. After expressing our disappointment about this he basically told us to get lost. I have not experienced that much bad attitude from a restaurant owner ever. We will certainly not go back. Cons: service, ambience more

Three Visits, Three Thumbs Down 3/1/2005

I visited this restaurant three times - - three times too much. During the first visit in December, I had the Salmon with Wasabi sauce with a side of mash potatoes. It was rather bland. The wasabi had no kick to it. The mash potatoes seemed powder-based. During the second visit in December, I had the Pot Roast. The portions of this item seemed to be dwarfed by the size of the humongous plate. It did not satisfy my hunger, and it was undercooked to my liking. The Corn Chowder soup I had ordered was too watery. During the third visit, I had a salad; something simple to eat. Sadly, I did not like it. The ambience is ruined by the fact that it is located in a strip mall. However, considering the food, it deserves to be there. Not recommended. Pros: Bottled Water Cons: Food, Location more

It's a Love Hate Thing 2/24/2005

I LOVE the fact that it is unpretentious, fun and run by folks who are so earnest and kind . I HATE the service. We tried this restaurant rhen it opened and my entree, (the albacore) was delivered late and cold. We told the waiter who returned my entree to the kitchen and when it came back it was completely overcooked. It was totally inedible...AND we were charged for it. (At least until my boyfriend complained) I tried it again last night and the waiter completely forgot about us, (and a chance to run up the tab), by letting us sit w/empty wine glasses for over 45 min. and by giving us our check right after we finished our entree...not even asking if we wanted desert or coffee!!!! Imagine...he could have added at least another $25 to the total and increased his tip. Pros: Owners, Parking, Atmosphere Cons: Service, Service, Service more

Fits the name 2/6/2005

It's a good little neighborhood place. The service is friendly and while it has trendy aspirations, it doesn't take itself over seriously. Worth checking out. Pros: Food, Price, Parking Cons: A bit austere more
