If you like Monk's, you'll like Nodding Head. The food is very similar, outstanding muscles and sandwiches. The only difference is that here the brews are in house. Having trie...

Worst

I VE BEEN GOING TO SAM ADAMS/NODDING HEAD SINCE IT OPENED.ALWAYS LOVED IT.UNTIL THE OTHER DAY,THE BEER WAS AWFUL,AND WARM.THE RESTAURANT WAS HOT,NO A/C. THE PLACE EVEN LOOKED UNKE...

Pub food as it SHOULD be 12/26/2002

I have never been disappointed here. Sometimes the burgers seem small, but they are outstanding. Entrees (except for the Jambalaya - leave it for the Cajuns to do) have always been good. The Grog is a first rate brew. more

a great place only getting better... 11/17/2002

Where do I start. In a city that seems so caught up with its own scene, Nodding Head sneaks under the radar and remains a very happening neighborhood spot in one of the most boring parts of town. attentive, confident servers mixed with straight forward and delicious cuisine and libations make this place a bastian of normalcy among self centered and short sighted restaurants. terrific, well made food, great beer, Excellent music (ie. pavement and the clash), and awesome service-bethanty and the brendans especially- will keep me coming back. Pros: Large groups welcome, Vegans welcome Cons: not closer to my hous more

Very Accommodating! 11/11/2002

I had called on a Friday and made a reservation for 10 people for 7 o'clock on Saturday night. We showed up, our table was ready, and our waiter was great!! Two more friends joined our party unexpectedly, and they added another table - no problem! Great service, good food, and good beer. We spent a solid two hours there, and never felt rushed. Highly recommended! more

Horriblly slooooow service 11/1/2002

A group of 6 of us ate here last night. The waitress repeatedly forgot our drink orders and we waited about 1 HOUR for our food. Burgers and salads do not take that long to cook, so that means they didn't even start cooking our food for 50 minutes. It was not very busy either at the time so that is not an excuse. To top it off they charged us 18% gratuity. too bad because I would have left half of that. The food was OK at best but we were so mad that it ruined our night. Pros: beer Cons: service, kitchen, speed more

Noisy 10/28/2002

Much too noisy. Go downstairs to the Oyster Bar, you'll pay a little more but you can actually talk to the people beside you. Pros: Cheap Beer more

watch out for the waitress 10/21/2002

i like the place for an after hours joint but the waitress there is a table nazi, if the bar and lounge are jammed packed and the table are all empty the'll stay that way..... Pros: home brews Cons: waitresses more

Good Food, Good Beer 9/28/2002

I just ate at Nodding Head and I was impressed with the food and beer. The hamburger I had was so juicy (huge mushrooms, peppers, and large burger as well). The fries were delicious. They tasted like authentic frites from Belgium (even had the sauce they serve it with). The tart European beer on draft was exactly what I was looking for. I have been trying to find a ""fruity beer"" reminisant of Belgium and this hit the spot. This is a great place to have a large portion of good food and beer for not a lot of money. Pros: Large Portions, Good Food, Great Beers Cons: Small Restaurant more

cool 8/23/2002

I had a very enjoyable lunch. it almost made me forget that i had to return to work!!!! more

Better than Sam's Club. 8/12/2002

Taking over the former location of the Samuel Adams Brew Pub, Nodding Head Brewery brings better beer and a much less corporate-chain feel to the upstairs Sansom Street pub. Good, reasonably priced lunch choices are a step above what you might expect - interesting, creative fish of the day, great smoked meats and fishes (done on premises, even vegetarian choices. more

You've got to try the Grog. 8/10/2002

I love beer. I love different beers. I love beers with a dark color,,, nutty flavor,, malts,, ambers,, etc. The GROG was fantastic. smooth,, kick,, taste,, after taste. It was great. My wife is not a beer drinker,, and she still had plenty of other choices. For beer lovers,,, Chimay,, Trappiste,, Piraat,, Rogue,, Corsendonk,,,,, the selection was almost endless. Waitress brought samples without hesitation. Fantastic service and reasonable prices,,, the food was excellent too! Thank you for a great time. Park far away so you have time to walk off the buzz. GRIN. Pros: Beer selection, service, atmosphere Cons: parking?, we walk philly,, so,, no cons for us. more

the spot 8/7/2002

Nod your head 8/7/2002
