Better than the Rest by Far 7/11/2011

I've had a lot of Indian food in New York and I have to say this place stands out. Food is far from ordinary and you just can't the dishes you get here anywhere else. It's a real treat. The bartender remembered my drink when I came back! It's a very special place. more

Amazing Buffet 7/5/2011

I dropped in here during a lunch break to meet a friend. Very convenient location to all Manhattan neighborhoods. We ended up staying for a long time enjoying all the the wonderful breads, curries, and desserts at the buffet. In fact, the manager was nice enough to recommend some wine to go with the fish curry (my favorite) and it was a great relaxing meal. I think the best thing about the meals is the abundance of different breads and rices really allows you to taste things you've tasted before in new ways. Definitely going back. more

Mouth WATERING food!!!!! 6/30/2011

I went here for my friends anniversary dinner party and had an incredible dinner. The food is delicious, we had the tandoori seekh kebabs, and they even brought us an extra serving because they thought the initial serving was too small (although we were stuffed!) The staff was very nice and helped us celebrate our special day. The ambience is very romantic and it made our day. Can't wait to go back and I definitely recommend this place! more

I have tried many Indian Restaurants in Newyork,finally we came to Nirvana with my family on a special occasion on the recommendation of a friend.I was not so excited as I didn't expect anything special. In the restaurant the hostess guide us to the upstairs Dining Room it was so.........beautiful.The food was excellent, better than the food in India.They served with a complimentary appetizer in the beginning,it was awesome.Wait staff was very attentive and friendly.Anyhow we had a great time there.I will definitely recommend this place.This place is suitable for parties family gatherings etc. more

Nirvana leaves much to be desired 12/17/2010

Well, I wish I could say something really good about this place, but I am sorry to confess- I was really disappointed. I came there with my husband to have a romantic dinner. I was sure it would be as nice as it was two years ago-when the guys just opened the business...But I was mistaken-now the place seems to be more like a fast food restaurant with low and slow service. Too loud, too crowded, the waiter (I think it was the manager, because he was in a shirt and a tie)was gloomy and ignorant. The food was not properly cooked. The mango lassi was too fat and contained too much sugar. So, all in all, we were really upset about the service and the place. Maybe the guys should try to run another business not a restaurant one? more

Fraud! 11/16/2010

Food was good, but not for the price. The place is dishonest. We came with a food ""coupon"" that we paid for and was told we could not use it since our reservation was made on OpenTable. This was not printed or disclosed anywhere. That reeks of fraud and dishonesty. more

Fantastic buffet and a la carte choices in Midtown 12/4/2009

I have been to this restaurant four times already times, and each time I have been with an eclectic crowd of varying tastes, and Nirvana has delivered on every occasion! Pros: Great food & cocktails...pleasant atmosphere Cons: Haven't come across any in my 4 visits more

Not only a restaurant but also a bar 12/2/2009

Nirvana serves some of the best Indian food in Nyc. Must try the mouth watering rosemary malai chicken, the nalli ghost which is a supple soft lamb shank and the indulgent golab jamun. Nirvana, not your typical Indian restaurant, it is the perfect blend of east meets west while keeping its authenticity. The bar downs stairs is a great finish to a great dinner. A chilled lounge with delicious cocktails and fabulous bar stuff. more

Five stars all around 2/6/2009

We had lunch at Nirvana and it was, by far, the best Indian food. In addition, the service was truly excellent. Really top notch! We are vegans and so our waiter helped us make selections from the menu and also made substitutions where appropriate. The restaurant is very cozy and the atmosphere was buzzing with other customers enjoying their lunch as well. Definitely worth the visit! Pros: Food choices, service, ambience, very cozy. more

Oh my goodness, I absolutely love this restaurant. It is very important to us that when we eat out (especially now) that we choose a place that you have a good combo; good food, good service and the feeling of warmth and welcome! Exquiste Indian Food 1/9/2009

We first dined in Nirvana about 2 months ago and have been there 5 times since! . By far, the best Indian food I have had in the city. Everthing about this place is perfect, starting with its location, but my favorites were in the appetizer menu - truly delicious. Do try the malai lamb, which I would rate as the best. A Must to Experience - If you are impressed with Excellence! 1/3/2009

I decided to use this restaurant to cater my New Year's Eve party. Their website and philosophy first impressed me. Then I met the owner Anil. He really understands the meaning of service and excellence. I looked around and the place is beautifully decorated. I can't wait to eat in. Nirvana's food is exquistie Indian cuisine. My guest went on and on about how good the food was. When I came to pick up the food it was freshly prepared and packed, then at least three servers brought it out to my car and packed it in. The meat is tender and succulent. The spices are fresh and the chuntney is unbelievable! I cannot recommend Nirvana enough, what a perfect name. Thank you for helping to make my party a success. Pros: The food, the service Cons: I have not dined in but had catering for 20 people more

DIVINE 12/26/2008

Nirvana made my would have been 'dull' christmas eve a Night to Remember. Stumbled upon this place whch looked fancy and new, as I was strolling by the neighborhood. Entered in and was greeted and treated special. I had a few glasses of wine, the staff were so friendly and charming it made me feel so comfortable. I had their lamb potato croquettes and rosemary malai kabab for appetizers and then Lamb Nalli gosht for dinner with nan. The best word to describe my entire experience is ""DIVINE"". Last night I went to this restaurant after reading a few reviews on City Search and Yelp and I found this place live up to all those reviews. The food was very delicious and in my opinion does rank at the top. Pros: Great Food. Perfect place Cons: none at this time more

Cold Plates 12/24/2008

The food was delicious, but the plates were ice cold, so dinner soon became cold & less appetizing. The service was at best sporadic & the waiter brought the wrong bottle of wine chosen from the wine list by our host. Pros: Good food/convenient location Cons: Cold plates w/ spotty service more
