Nimbus Salon

Nimbus is Aveda Concept with an urban, rustic art house feel. It's a place where niche style and trendy designs happen. Most of the stylists have been there for years and they all seem to love what they do there. Why else would they stay! I mean my hairdresser moved three times in the last few years alone. A lot of stylists at Nimbus are booked out so calling in advance is helpful.. The guy who answers the phone and runs the front is awesome by the way.. Ricky I think his name is... The new talent is also great. On trial, I was talked into booking with a peppy young girl (her name is slipping away at the moment) because my regular stylist in another Aveda salon was out of town. I left with a fantastic cut and color and I will be returning to Nimbus to see what else is brewing over there. The salon ambiance is characteristic of beautiful downtown Los Gatos but the feel in this salon is elemental, funky, earthy, and artistically open. Anyone can go here, even the leery like me, feel welcome, and leave looking awesome. They made me feel great and I usually have incredibly thin and lifeless hair.. Usually I dislike my first go round with a new stylist and have to grow on it a while so I am truly happy to have found Nimbus. Cheers! I like your positivity and keep it coming. more

I ended up at Nimbus Salon because I followed Sara Hines there from a different salon in San Jose, who was gracious enough to let me know where she went. Let me start by saying how much I love Sara's work. Some people are technicians and some are artists when they cut hair, and Sara is a true artist. I believe this is reflected in her interest in photography and music, which enriches her aesthetic when she is working on hair. I can speak to both her skills as a hair stylist, as well as a colorist. When I first came to her, I just had a vague description of what I wanted, and she made it real and better than I could have imagined. Since then, I have brought her countless pictures from hairstyle magazines and asked her to duplicate the haircut on me. She is spot on every time, somehow making it work with my hair and head and face shape. I love the color combinations she chooses for my hair. She just has an eye for it. I am sure that many of you have had the same experiences I have had in the past trying to find a good hair stylist. I can't count the number of times before I met Sara that I had come home and cried over the haircut or had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. I am so relieved those days are past. I feel so strongly about this that when I had to move to Santa Rosa for 3 months one summer for my job, I drove all the way back to Los Gatos to have Sara do my hair. Now don't let me forget about complimenting Nimbus Salon. The people covering the front desk are always very nice to me. I had one instance where another stylist had to fill in for Sara when I got stuck in traffic and didn't want to reschedule, and it was a very good experience. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the other customers seem to enjoy chatting with their stylists as much as I do. The stylists seems to get along with one another, which adds to the pleasant atmosphere. When I went there for a makeup consultation, the owner came over and gave me a free Aveda lip gloss, presumable in thanks for my business, as I purchased what was recommended. Finally, I love the Aveda products. People have asked me how my hair is so shiny, and I can't believe it myself with all of the stuff I have done to it. The smells are therapeutic, the eye shadows go on so much better than other brands I have purchased, and I can't find another face lotion that sits so well on my skin. My experience at Nimbus Salon was excellent! The salon was contemporary, clean, and comfortable and I was served the most delicious tea that I have ever tasted. I went to Sara Hines for a haircut and partial highlight and gave her very little guidance. I had heard such wonderful things about her that I wanted her expertise to guide the way! I have never had as many positive remarks about my haircut nor my color before (actually, people normally don't even notice my hair after a cut/color!) so that has been awesome. I went into Nimbus with a beautiful shade of blonde hair, looking for a root touch up, and a few ligher highlights, and left with brown hair streaked with bright orange. They didn't leave the color in long enough, and it never lifted, resulting in a bright orange. They then dyed my hair TWO more times in the same sitting in an attempt to correct it. After three dye jobs, I had massively damaged hair, and they charged me a ""discounted"" rate of $120.00. They only offered me an appointment for a 4th dye job, but refused to offer me a refund. The owner wouldn't even call me back, even though the other staff acknowledged it was one of the worst dye jobs they've ever seen. I was completely unconfident going for a 4th dye job, yet I couldn't keep the bright orange hair in my professional work environment, so I forked over another 200.00 to go to a color correctionist at Salon Blu, and finally ended up with presentable hair. If you want good blonde, go to James at Salon Blu...he's absolutely terrific. Ironically, a girl next to was also there for a color correction after a mistake at Nimbus. I have been going to Sara for 3 years now. She is a genius! I like to change my style often and she is fully capable of that tedious task. I have been punk rock, classic, etc. I get a TON of compliments, even when I am majorly overdue. I highly recommend Sara Hines! Pros: Aveda~Tea~Los Gatos atmosphere more

I have been getting my hair done with Sara Hines, a Senior Hair Stylist for about 2 years now. Sara has the ability to create special techniques for each individual person, by creating a unique look while coloring your hair, highlights, and haircuts. I would highly recommend Sara to all my family, friends, acquaintances, and anyone because I know she will give everyone 100% satisfaction on their new hair image they will love. I went to Nimbus for a haircut and style after a friend recommended it and I have not stopped going back!! I got so many compliments on my haircut it was crazy. I was very impressed with the results and the pricing was reasonable. I highly recommend Celeste as a stylist; she is AMAZING at what she does! I love Nimbus! Although I only get my hair colored once a year, everytime I've gone, and each new person I have met... was amazing! The last girl I had even went out to get food and brought me back some as well! Aveda products are very important to me, and Nimbus is the perfect provider. The decoration is very homey and it is the perfect Los Gatos location. Definite YES more
