Editorial review from Citysearch 7/20/2012

One of a kind. Not Chicago or New York style, not quite thin crust, although close. It's just well seasoned, non-chain pizza with a great flavor. Nick ran it through the 60s and 70s for a San Jose State and neighborhood clientele and now his son, Robert, continues the tradition. Pizza is personal, whatever the size, but definitely check it out. more

True Italian Experience 10/3/2006

It reminded me exactly of dining at a restaurant in a small town in Italy. The place is family owned and the food is magnificent. Just like being in Italy, the surroundings and decor don't matter when you are looking for great food. It makes you feel relaxed and at home; just take your time to talk and eat. There is no rush to finish, but only the enjoyment of the food and the people you are with. Pros: Prices, Service, Food Quality more

Good but could have made at home 9/19/2006

Suckered in by the reviews, my husband and I went here one night. The front room looks like a pizza parlour and the dining room looks like a 1970s dining room at my Grandmother's. They really could use a makeover and some decent lighting. Still attempting to give them the benefit of a doubt, we ordered wine and pasta. No real wine list so ordered a house red. Just ok. The baked penne I got was okay, something I probably could have found a simple recipe for and made at home, but still good. Luckily it wasn't pricy but I still wish it could have been a little more interesting. At least the server was attentive. Overall, it needs work. more

Hidden Treasure 4/19/2006

I have driven past Nick's every day for 3 years and finally thought to actually go there last night. My sweetie and I dined on salads, garlic bread, lemon chicken with pasta, and tortellini with pesto sauce. WOW!!! Everything was sooooo incredibly tasty! The fellow working there was very friendly and pretty quick with prep. I wasn't thrilled with the dusty surroundings, but when your eyes are closed in ecstacy while tasting the divine food, you hardly notice the dust. This place should be booming, but it's not, and I'm not sure why. The food is phenomenal! Pros: Good presentation, Great selection, Reasonable prices Cons: Dusty atmosphere, No fanfare more

Babe's Pizzas and Mufflers 11/4/2005

Back in the 60's my friends and I were Monday-night-regulars at what we called ""Babe's Pizza and Mufflers"" (named for the large Babe's Mufflers sign above the restaurant. We enjoyed the family that owned Nick's Pizza: Mamma, who always urged me to eat my vegetables, and brothers Nick and Bob, with whom we had a light-hearted ongoing argument about the origins of linguica. We all finished college, time passed and somehow we never went back. Until last night, when 3 of us made a pilgrimage. The Babe's Mufflers sign is now gone, but Bob is still there, smiling as always. And the pizza! The crust was magnificent. There was not a single piece left on our plates. The scent of herbs on the fresh tomatoes on top made out heads zing. All those inbetween years of Round Table pizza were wasted. We'll be back regularly to Nick's for real pizza. more

Best Pizza closest to the east side! 8/1/2005

Nick's has THE BEST pizza and Italian food in this area! The owner is so friendly and the atmosphere is very old world, not modern at all, but what a wonderful feeling on top of the great tastes!!!!!!!!! If you're looking for excellent food and not concerned about the atmosphere, this is the place for you! Pros: Service, Pizza Sauce, Chianti more
