Nicholson's Irrigation

We had a system installed this Summer and we had alot of problems- they were way later then they said they would be, some of our heads are still acting weird they do not seem to care. I am a curious gal and searched their company on-line and found that one of the owners- Chris Nicholson- is also the owner of another business in Grand Rapids called Grand Rapids Hydroponics- I looked at their Facebook page and it is disgusting! They sell hydroponics things and they have a lot of naked women on the Facebook page- it is sexist and demeaning! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY AND THEIR GROSS SEXIST WAYS!!!! WOMEN- DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! more

My husband and I had our Underground Spinklers installed by Nicholsons three years ago. They had the best prices and the best refferences. They quoted us multiple brands and gave us twelve equal payments with no interest. I don't know how they keep their prices so low but they do and we are happy. Look no further, Nicholsons is the best. more

2 husbands 2 houses and 1 Nicholsons. Nicholsons has done two separate houses for me. The service is excellent and they are always there when I need them. I use them for my spring start ups and fall shutdowns. I like the fact that I can get an appointment at 7:00 PM. because I work until 6. Almost forgot, they have better prices than the competition. Nicholsons installed our last system many years ago. Jon had done the work for us and he did a nice job. We recently built and had the pleasure of meeting Chris. His knowledge and professionalism were unmatched. Even though Nicholsons installed our last system we wanted to get a few quotes. One quote was on a hand written piece of paper. The other quote arrived almost a week later and was just over 700.00 higher. Chris had the quote in my Email the morning after he met with us. These guys give new meaning to the word efficiency. The best part is the mosquito repellent system. He told me that if it didn't work he would give me a refund. Well, it works very well. If you call, make sure you ask for Chris. more

We have been very happy with our sprinkler system. Nicholsons originally installed the system when we built our house eight years ago. Since then we have had Nicholsons winterize every year and inspect for any damage. My husband and I have our underground sprinkling system for eleven years. It seems like today companies are just going through the motions. Nicholsons is the exception. They did a wonderful job for us and our lawn has been beautiful year after year. There prices are by far the best. When we added on our pole barn they trenched in the wire for us for 100.00. Our electrician wanted 600.00. It was so hot this year that our neighbors finally had it done. I work in quality control and these guys are good. I watched them install my neighbors system and they are as efficient as I have ever seen. They had two guys putting the pipe in with a big machine. A few guys were digging the holes. they had a girl putting the heads on. Another guy was burying the holes. Nice work Nicholsons. Keep it up.\r \r Tabby. more

By far the best in town! I called Nicholsons last year for a bid. A gentleman came out and was fairly nice. He just seemed to be preoccupied with other things. The bid he sent me was professional and the price was the best of the bids I received. We didn't end up doing it because we were just to busy with work and the kids. Anyway. I ended up calling them back as I heard an ad on the radio. This time the owner himself actually came out. Well let me tell you. Chris is by far the most knowledgeable and nicest person you could ever meet. My husband asked him question after question and with out fail he knew his business. We are extremely happy we used them. Dear Nicholsons' Underground Sprinkling,\r Thanks so much for the great job and service. I painstakingly researched underground sprinkling and your company before I chose you. My conclusion is this. I found 54 reviews that were excellent and a few that were not. I found no reviews in the middle. I called seven customers from your referral list. I spoke with four. They all had excellent things to say. I personally met with Chris. He was and is by far the best and most knowledgeable person I had come in contact with from the companies that supplied me with estimates. I was planning on paying for the system but instead took advantage of the zero percent financing. I have twelve equal payments with no interest. They had the best price and the best selection. There were a few humps in the yard and I called Chris. He came out to see me and told me they would go back down by themselves and that the ground was very hard due to the weather. Funny thing...they did. It took two weeks just like he said. My yard is beautiful. My only regret is not getting underground sprinkling sooner. I will tell you it is truly a rare bird to find such a great company. I don't think they are the biggest company. They are definitely the best! I have delt with Chris since having my original system installed over 15 years ago. His cell phone numer is even the same. The company does a wonderful job. My underground sprinkling has been woderful year after year. The reason I know this is that I called him my self today. There is a person named Ike. (not sure on the spelling) who used to work there calling and representing himself as the original company. He apparently has started a new company and is need of work. Chris told me that they are pursuing legal action. The fact is. Nicholsons is a wonderful company. Make sure you deal with Chris. I will be happy to reccomend Nicholsons and testify on Chris' behalf. We had our Toro underground sprinkling system installed by Nicholsons several years ago. It has worked flawlessly. The service for winter shut downs has always been very good. My husband and I had recently put in a pool and the system was damaged when the pool company dug the hole. We called Nicolsons on Monday and all their technicians were busy until Thursday. We called another company in the phone book that was close to us. They were able to come out immediately. We called Nicholsons and cancelled. To our surprise, one week and eleven hundred dollars later the system still wasn't working. We called Nicholsons back and asked for the owner to call us back. Sure enough, Chris called us back that night at around 7:00 PM. He sent Sam out the next afternoon with a few workers. They were polite and started to work. They rerouted the big line with the wires and re-did the entire back yard in less than three hours. The bill was fair and everything works great again. All I can say is that Nicholsons Underground Sprinkling is a great company. I highly recommended them. more

The city just put a new water main in and tore up our underground sprinkling. I called a few places to get estimates. One place didn't even call me back. Maybe they have to much work? Chris was very promt and professional. The other guy didn't even ask me any questions. They crew came out nd everything was done in a few hours. Jon did a great job. I wont even bother checking if I need anything in the future. Nice work. more

I had my original underground sprinkling system install by Nicholsons in July of 02. The system has worked flawlessly. They even showed me how to start it up myself. Chris gave me an excellent price and did a wonderful job. I needed an irrigation system for the cottage so I gave them a call. I couldn't believe it. Chris came out himself again to do the bid. I did call another company just to be sure I was getting a competive price. His bid was almost 600. less. I just booked it. I am excited to be having my system installed next week just befor the holiday. It seems today that people only talk about the bad things in the world. Listen, I personally have never written a review in my life, but I feel compelled and honestly convicted to tell my experience with Nicholsons.\r \r I hired Nicholsons to get my system started and they guaranteed that they would get this thing going no problem. It has now been 9.5 hours of work @ $65/hr + initial $79 just for the service call. If you know how to add and multiply this come out to $696.50. Apparently they know how to add and multiply because they work by the hour and they are just milking me for everything. \r \r I called another company out and they said that if they didn't have the system up in running in less than 1 hour they would not charge me a thing. Low and behold they had my pump primed, sprinklers shooting water and they were gone in under 1 hour. Funny how these things happen. I guess I should have listened to my wife when she wondered what they heck these guys were doing just walking around the yard. \r \r Now the real question is ""do I have grounds to tell these guys to take a hike when it comes to the bill?"" Do I pay them for the work they did or do I pay them for the hours they were there? The work they did was next to nothing the hours they were there really has added up.\r \r Do not hire these guys. My husband and I just had our system started by Nicholsons. the system works great as expected. I love the fact that I can call day or night and schedule our start ups and shut downs.
