Courteous 5/17/2011

I could not believe someone wrote a bad review about this place! My husband and I have been going to this Motel for over 4 years. Our experience is always a great one. The staff is courteous and the pool is great. The rooms are comfortable and clean and quite roomy. Its not the ritz-carlton, but for a chain motel, its quite nice. The rooms are all brand new and have nice decor. They need to improve their housekeeping, but the rooms overall are usually quite clean. We have never had a problem here. I guess if your courteous, you get courtesy in return. The pool is huge and very well kept. (except one time they had a filter problem, but that was cleared up quickly). I recommend this motel to everyone! Also, for the price, you cannot go wrong!!!! more

Made travel tolerable 5/10/2011

We all have to travel, and many times, we have to travel for reasons that we do not necessarily like. That was me last week, when I traveled to Buffalo for a conference that I just didn't want to attend. Seriously - a conference in the middle of the summer, when I'd rather be working minimum hours and hanging out at the beach all day? What a buzz kill. But, nonetheless, my friend talked me into joining him, and I took the liberty to book the hotel for us. more

accommodating, nice & polite 5/5/2011

"My husband and I wanted an affordable and yet clean Motel to stay at in New London, CT, while visiting East Lyme Friends. We booked our reservation at the Motel 6 website which saved me more money than using Expedia or Orbit.com Which we usually use. I checked the web site reviews for this specific hotel and they were questionable, but I had read one review that they were in the process of remodeling. So we took the chance to stay here. We Loved It. The out door pool was clean and beautiful for the weather! The price was very very affordable! ""booking early"". and the room was very clean, remodeled and nice. Somewhat a small room queen bed/non smoking but for what we were there for we didn't stay in all day only at night for it's intended use. I will absolutely stay at this Motel 6 again! The staff was very accommodating, nice and polite. Although we didn't take advantage of the morning if they had any breakfast as that was not our need. We will say you would be happy with this hotel! Helpful staff 5/2/2011

This was an unplanned stay. I was driving at 11 PM in heavy snow and opted for shelter. Picked the Motel 6 when I saw a $39 weekend rate posted on their electric sign. This classic Motel 6 was more than adequate. Clean large room, with two reasonably comfortable full beds, large desk and chair, working TV, and functional bath. Nothing fancy... but what do you expect? The staff were very helpful. My rental car did not have a snow brush, and the front desk guy went out to his car and lent me his equipment. Sure made clearing the car easier. Thumbs up on this old fashioned value .... with a bit of extra service! The four star rating on my experience controls for the price and class of hotel. This is not a four star hotel. . . . it is a one to two star motel that does a more than adequate job of taking care of its guests. more

Great Value! 4/29/2011

his Motel 6 is located right off the 95 freeway... though it is easy to miss because it is on a side street with an entrance at a diagonal angle (a quick "double-turn" from the main street). The immediate surrounding area is green... lush... quiet... with the Coast Guard Academy, Casinos, the city of Mystic... all within about a fifteen minute drive. I was attracted to the place due to the great reviews here and the price: $39.95 per night (online and also currently at-the-door) special ($44.79 with tax). It was less than half the price of most of the other chains listed. The staff was nice. I was checked in quickly (less than 5 minutes) and went to my upstairs room. I was a little concerned to see the layers of rust on the stairs... but VERY impressed by the room. Very simple. Very clean. I usually check the sheets first, and am happy to report there were no ashes/strange hairs/etc. (which I've experienced at other hotels). The comforter was colorful and slightly-worn. All the lights worked (the one that I thought was out had a twist knob on the bottom). The cleanliness extended to the rest of the room: no random leftover trash... no funky smells... Simple. Clean. Basic. I ended up staying four nights (Sun Check-in to Thursday Check-out). During that time things that stood out: Nice sized bathtub/shower combination. Good shower head (no layers of hard-water buildup) and water pressure. Also, the water temperature seems to go nowhere near "painful scalding hot" thankfully. Free Local Phone Calls. When I needed an iron and ironing board I was able to borrow one from the front desk in exchange for my driver's license. The board was a stained and ratty... but still usable and the iron was surprisingly clean and easy to use. Quick phone pickup (less than 4 rings) whenever I dialed the front desk. more

attentive 4/27/2011

didn't expect too much from a budget motel up-front, chose it for its convenient location along our route witih late arrival and early departure. Overall, very friendly and attentive service at reception (even recognized a birthday in the group). The only real disappointment was the bad smell in the room when we opened the door (room was very clean otherwise). Keeping the door open for half an hour helped a bit, and we put up with it as other rooms were taken. Quiet despite proximity to I-95. outside pool. more

Very Pleased 4/18/2011

we stayed at this motel 6 property this past may 3rd for one night and I must say we were very pleased. Check in was excellent, room was a nice size and very clean. The bathroom was large with a great shower. The beds were also very comfortable. Do understand that these properties are very basic < no shampoo or other major bath products> with that in mind rest assured that you will have a great nights rest at a very affordable rate, I must also tell you how nice Melinda was < hotel manager> we had a small problem with the first room and she took care of the situation right away. I have had better service at motel 6 than some other upscale hotels in this area more

Very Clean 4/6/2011

Motel is very basic but very clean. Room was newly painted with new rug. Comfortable bed but tiny pillows. Bathroom was fine but bring your own shampoo, etc. Towels were also very small. Room had queen-size bed, table, two chairs, small TV and a desk. Desk clerk very friendly and quick check-in. Called on Saturday and was able to get a last minute reservation for that night at a good rate. Cheaper than the Sleep Inn which is across the road. Landscape was very well kept and large L-shaped pool looked very clean. 12 minutes from Mohegan Sun and less than 30 minutes to Foxwoods. Only complaint was that a tractor trailor with motor running right outside our room woke us up at 7:30 A.M more

Good Value Overall 3/29/2011

It seems to be relatively new, is in very good condition, is conveniently located near I-95, and we were very pleased with it. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the shower worked well. It's a no-frills place (bring your own hair dryer and shampoo) but it's a very efficient, well-run place, and the staff members were very nice. It's a very good value, overall. more

Cheap for a great motel 3/23/2011

This service is fantastic! I have used this service many, many times and only had an issue once! My family has gotten rooms for as low as $25 before on a 3 star hotel! We have been fortunate and very lucky in our bids at times. Overall, I would say that this service helps moderate income families stay at some great places for cheap! Fun to use and great for savings. more

Great location 3/16/2011

I was very happy with the cost of the room 2/9/2011

This hotel was very nice and spacious. It was very close to Mohegan Sun Casino, which was our top priority. The cost was great for the quality room we had. I was very happy with our results. Thanks more

Very decent value for my budget 2/3/2011

Overall it was a decent value for the location. The hotel could use a but of a touch up especially in the bathroom more

Very accommodating staff. 1/27/2011

Very large, clean rooms, some with balconies. Unfortunately, the attached restaurant had shut down and there were few restaurants nearby. They are currently renovating, so some things need updating. No elevators, but built on a hill, so no need to climb stairs. more

Decent Sized rooms 1/19/2011

I liked the room, it had a refrigerator and microwave. more

It was better than we expected 1/12/2011

Convenient, clean, comfortable, accommodating, in room fridge & microwave. Much more than we expected from a 2 1/2 or even 3 star rating. more

Just one adjustment but other than that great 1/4/2011

The wall mounted air conditioning/heater unit is very noisy when in use.The staffs are very helpful however. more
