Although the American side does have some interesting perspectives and activities, The Canadian side offers a much greater diversity of activities. The kitschy Clifton Hill area abounds with attractions for everyone. The panoramic views of the falls from the beautiful parks are spectacular. Lodging and dining is available for all tastes and budgets. Parking can be limited; the PeopleMover is a great value and makes getting around convenient. Don't miss Niagara on the Lake. It is a beautiful, historic town with many interesting shops and restaurants and hosts the Shaw theater festival. We have found that by going in the late Spring or early Autumn we can avoid the congestion common in Summer and still enjoy beautiful weather. Pros: Variety of activities, Beautiful parks, Immaculate facilities Cons: Crowded in Summer more

Inexpensively Awesome 5/14/2005

Don't park downtown. Park in NF USA along the park across from Goat Island for free; there is a wonderful foot path through the park along the river right to the free bridge to Goat Island. The island offers many wonderful walks away from crowds -- all views are fantastic. Buy your food back on the mainland -- nice Hard Rock cafe real close. Then, walk through the mainland side of the park -- more great views and more walks away from crowds and nice science/history museum for free and clean restrooms. Try the Maid of the Mist. Pros: Great Walking, Great Views, Inexpensive if Smart Cons: casino area, Not smart, expensive, Trolly is ripoff more

Family Friendly and worth it 5/13/2005

The Queen Elizabethpark has landscaped gardens spaced through it making the area next to falls very nice for an afternoon inthe park. Lunch can be had on terraces over looking the falls there but back so you don't get wet.Get Canadian $ at a bank use your credit card for currency exchange as most merchants set their own rates . Save your reciepts stop at the dutyfree shop and get a form to mail in and file for a G.S.T. taxrefund. The best parking is the parking area located behind Cliftonhill on the south side ( turn at the Ripley Museum) . The hotels in the area have very wide price range and just as wide quality of accomendations ( buyer beware read reviews). There are alot family things to do on CliftonHill and places to eat and shop. . There is literaly something for everyone tastes and budget there. Pros: inexpensive, family fun, Romantic Cons: $ exchange rates, parking, taxes more

Gltizy and busy 6/26/2004

Give me the Grand Canyon of the East, Letchworth Park near Portageville, or the Little Grand Canyon in Pennsylvania. Beautiful falls, but no crowds. Clean facilities. Quiet, tree loaded picnicing spots. Niagara Falls -- there you have to watch your back and the kids. Parking is very expensive and difficult to find. Pros: Beautiful, Canadian side better Cons: , Crowded, Facilities - ok more

Awe-inspiring 8/27/2003

I have lived in Buffalo all my life and have gone to the falls with my mother, and now with my daughter. I prefer the more natural U.S. side for beauty and serenity; for those who like it more glitzy, the Canadian side is for you. Both sides have their pluses. The dismanteling of the tower on the U.S. side was heartbreaking; the walkup was like going back in time. Oh and you have to visit the islands, they can take you to the water's edge! Pros: Free to see Falls, natural U.S. side, touristy Canada side Cons: NF cops ticket often, casino/ bad parking, Ca side very crowded more

Niagara Falls rating 8/26/2003

The American side does not worth it at all. Very poor and ugly city. The Canadian side is from far the best but too touristic. Huge tower hotels, noisy, Vegas style. Not recommended for a peacful quite honeymoon, stay at Niagara on the Lake (CA), beautiful and quite. Pros: Beautiful, Fun Cons: Expensive, Crowded, Poor more

Niagara Falls - too much 3/14/2003

Niagara Falls is a beautiful natural wonder of the world but it is SO overdeveloped! I would love it if there was a 3 mile circle of green around the Falls, with dirt walking trails, and trails for horsebackriding. THEN you can have restaurants souvenir shops etc. It is overdeveloped, yet there are not enough restrooms, or they are dirty or closed. Pros: BEAUTIFUL, MAGIC, HYPNOTIC Cons: overdeveloped, crowded, crass more

Niagara Falls - breathtaking! 1/7/2003

Niagara Falls is the best, but it's not in Buffalo. It's a little north. For things in Buffalo, see the rest of the Top 10. I also highly recommend the Niagara Butterfly Conservatory, which is right near the falls, on the Canadian side. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Crowded, Canada has best view more

It is one of the wonders of the world and its power is awesome to observe. You can actually feel it as the water thunders over the edge. In the winter the ice is a show all of its own. more

wonder of buffalo 8/8/2002

Considering that N. Falls is one of the wonders of the world and Buffalonians often dismiss it since it's so close it is still a great tourist attraction. With the cave of the winds & maid of the mist there's certainly something for everyone here. Pros: Close more

Natural Wonder 8/7/2002

Niagara Falls must be seen from two sides to really be appreciated. Goat Island on the U.S. side is the natural way to view the waters as they fall over the cusp of the falls. But the real glorified view and the ""Tourist Dreamland is located on the Canadian side. Both most be seen to really be in awe of the beauty of the falls. Pros: activities, food, views Cons: somewhat expensive, American side hotels, american side dirty more

don't go swimming here 8/7/2002

it's Niagara Falls- what more can we say!? Try Cave of the Winds and Maid of the Mist for the best awe inspiring views! more

Fantasy Falls 7/29/2002

The falls themselves are a wonder to see. However Niagara Falls has so much other stuff to do you literally have to spend a few days if your from out of town. The maid of the mist cools you down or take a ride through the rapids. The Spanish rail car is my favorite. Then check out the attractions on Cliffton Hill. Go past the falls too and check out the quant houses at Niagara on the lake. There is much fine dining along with several bed and breakfasts. Stop at the farmers markets along the way too. more

Breathtaking! 7/23/2002

Niagara Falls is one of the wonders of the world for a reason, it is absolutely beautiful! Pros: FREE, easy parking Cons: not enough to do more
