Another sad pet store story... 3/28/2010

A little over a week ago, I bought a lovely Cavalier/Cocker mixed breed puppy from NY Puppy Club. They were really pushing me to go to their vet and have her initial ""good health"" exam done there, which raised serious red flags in my book so I took her to my vet where they told me that she had luxating patellae in both of her back legs. I called the pet store to let the owner know I'd be coming in this weekend with the note from my vet and he really wanted to know why I didn't use his vet (more red flags). When I arrived today, he was not there, which I do understand (though he didn't mention it when I said I'd be coming in) but the girl who was there though was EXTREMELY rude. She all but accused me of forging the note from the vet, told me that there was nothing they could do today and gave me serious attitude - acting as if it were my fault that the dog had knee problems. After I returned home she called me to say that my vet had told her that I would need to see a specialist and get more information (a blatant lie - my vet never said that) and the pet store employee wouldn't let me get in a single word so I hung up. Only then did she call back, now being very polite and saying that she had spoken to my vet and things would be sorted. I am not hopeful, but if the situation takes a turn for the better I will update. Don't buy your dogs from a pet store. Definitely don't buy from NY Pupppy Club. They clearly have very little regard for the health of the dogs they sell or the quality of the breeders where they get their dogs. Rhea is a wonderful addition to our home but she may need very expensive surgery and NY Puppy Club couldn't care less. UPDATE: I have spoken to the owner who is not only not apologetic, but also informed me that if a dog has a grade I/II luxating patella he will go ahead and sell them because it is not a ""serious problem"" and feels no need to let the prospective buyer know of the problem. Luxating patellas are a condition that would make a dog ""not fit for purchase"" which means that he should not be selling them for profit. This place has absolutely no regard for the health of the animals that are in their care and prey upon the emotions of the people who buy these sweet little dogs. Cons: bad service, unhealthy puppies more

Worst dog groomers 12/30/2009

Dear Pet Owners, If you come here and think you are going to give your loving pet a fabulous grooming experience...please BEWARE. This place gave my dog the worst hair cut ever and on top of that cut the tips of my dogs poor ears. I've noticed this once I was giving my dog his bath a few days later...nonstop dripping blood was all over the bath tub. I couldn't stop the bleeding...he ran to his bed and won't let me touch him. I took him to the vet the next morning. My vet says the groomer definitely cut him and must have sealed it with some super glue powder to stop the bleeding. This is alike the ones they use in the Emergency room at the hospital for cuts. I went back to this dog butchering place to find out what happened during the hair cut and why the groomer was not visible to do the speaking. The owner was so rude he even shouted out that I was making this all up. Mind you this is after he himself even examined my dogs ears and sees the cuts on both ears himself. He even went as far as saying that my Vet is making it up while seeing my Vet letter. The owner bragged about cutting 20 dogs hair a day with 4 different groomers...I wasn't surprised because that's how they must have cut my poor dogs ear tips because they were careless and not experience. I as a dog owner feels so guilty that I've trusted my loving pet in their hands. Please if you think you are going to get a good dog grooming experience here you are dead wrong....these people are money hungry and don't give a rats ass about providing good service to innocent pets and owners. I had to rate 1 star in order to write this review. Owner you should be ashamed of yourself!!! Cons: Owner doesn't know how to run a business more

do not go here if you care about your dog 4/24/2009

My mom took her dog to get groomed at NY Puppy Club and they cut him twice. She was willing to forgive the mistake and asked for a discount due to the fact that they cut up her dog. However, they were unwilling to provide anything other than the 10% she already had for being a first-time customer. Rest assured that is the first and last time we will ever use their services. Pros: nothing Cons: very poor grooming services, poor customer service more
