Unbelievable ER 3/13/2011

My wife called me from her office in Kensington to complain about headaches. She's rarely sick and never complains about ill health. I was on Bleecker St when she called. Asked her if she thought she could make it to NY Methodist Hospital ER. She was within walking distance. The time was 7PM. Told her I would meet her there. Got there by 730PM They had taken her Blood pressure and told her it wasn't too high. Waited till 930PM before they took her EKG in Triage. Apparently the person doing the EKG wasn't in a position to tell her anything about the results. Still having a painful headache I got up and approached the receptionist who was on the phone. As soon as she saw me approaching, she hungup up the phone, looked at her computer monitor and started reading off the names and bed number of a number of patients that had been waiting. We got to the numbered and curtained off bedhold to find it empty, no bed. She waited standing until I got to one of the two bull pens that were fully staffed with white coats and blue scrubs respectively. Each one of them behind a computer monitor. A staff member finally brought in a bed. The time was 1015PM. At that time, she asked to go home and she'd make an appointment to see her own doctor. Her doctor wanted to see her immediately. Her doctor wouldn't let her leave without her taking some blood pressure medication. Three hours we waited in that ER without seeing a doctor. Had she stroked out, I don't know what I would have done. Unless your physician is associated with this hospital, avoid it. Your health might depend on it. more

The worst hospital EVER! 3/4/2011

Got there at 4:20pm with excruciating back pain. Couldn?t stand, walk, even coughing would bring me such pain I forgot how to breathe. Waited for someone to attend for 5 and half hours!!! Had a drunken dude laying in the next room cursing and threatening everyone non-stop. And guess what? He got all the nurses and doctors helping him out all the time and I couldn?t even get a pain reliever. My wife had to start a scandal there and finally the nurse brought me something. I didn?t see the doctor after all; some weird-looking nurse practitioner came once and told me that they are admitting me. I got transferred to 5th floor and? nothing changed. Same old sharp pain, same nasty and lazy staff?. Terrible experience! A nightmare! more

Emergency room nightmare 9/4/2009

I was at the emergency room last night, Sept. 4 '09, for severe back pain. I arrived at 4pm , and waited until 9pm without any attention from a doctor. It took two hours before the triage nurse would see me, just to note where my pain was. While skilled, she was too overburdened to and lacked the knowledge to identify potential seriousness of the condition. After five hours, I gave up and got medical help from my on-call doctor and the pharmacy. If the back pain does not subside and I need help to diagnose a serious problem or emergency medical attention, I am afraid for my life. I don't think that the emergency room in this hospital will get to me in time. Lack of accessibility to medical care rivals third world countries. Pros: TVs in waiting room, courteous receptionist Cons: Medical service unavailable more

bad memories and i hate this hospital 6/30/2009

I went here several times. The staff is mean, security is tight and strict. A friend of mine trick or treated there once on Halloween and they wanted to admit her to the mental unit. So mean. They rook more money on your insurance then most hospitals do. God help you if you don't have insurance. I was there in February and my father said something racial to one of the nurses. Her name is gloria Johnson, yes it is, and she beat me up over what my dad said for no reason. I wish that I can pull a lawsuite against this place and have that nurse arrested. I was bruised. Pros: you come out alive Cons: mean bossy staff, mean nurses, strict security, liars more

best butcher in town! 4/2/2008

Waited seven hours to be diagnosed with an ear infection, waited in a lay-z-boy with six other miserable people staring at each other, only to have an intern look in my ear and tell me i had and infected ear, wrote me a prescription and off i was, took him a total of two minutes. I got a bill for nine hundred dollars a month later. God-awful. But the look of cynical apathy on everybody's faces that work there alone is a sight to see! Pros: Good place to get a Staph infection! Cons: Don't get it treated there! more
