i really used to love this place, but it's just not the same anymore because of the new management. it used to be a quirky, one-of-a-kind coffee shop but now it's... the opposite....

Great coffee and food 5/13/2008

This coffee shop is an amazing find in N. Raleigh! They have food and many interesting menu items to choose from as well. The staff has always been extremely pleasant. A great place to work on your computer, read a book or just talk with friends. Come here over chain coffee shops any day! And the beans are locally roasted and it's locally owned...awesome Pros: Amazing coffee, great staff Cons: Parking more

Great coffee, though often up to 2-3 people in line behind me are served first 4/30/2008

Wonderful coffee, decent food, pushing in line allowed Pros: Great coffee, friendly staff, nice walls Cons: Self-important people being served out of order - UNFAIR more

Best coffee, great atmosphere 11/25/2007

Like a previous reviewer, I hate that I didn't find this wonderful coffee shop earlier! I've been wasting my money on mediocre and overpriced coffee at the two other big coffee chains in the area. Pros: Amazing coffee, awesome atmosphere, great music. I'm in love! Cons: None to speak of. more

Fantastic Find! 8/12/2007

I can't believe I never discovered The New World before this .................... definitely wish I'd found it long ago. The New World Coffee Shop is nestled between some rather ordinary shops on the side of a strip mall so it's rather obscure and easy to miss. But it is a truly fantastic place well worth going out of the way for. Pros: Great Wraps, Friendly Service, Neat Ambience Cons: I didn't discover it sooner more

Great coffee joint off of Glenwood by Pleasant Valley! 5/15/2007

Love love love. Great coffee, great atmosphere, whether for a casual breakfast meeting with a client, coffee with your sister, or lunch with a friend. Popular place for laptops. Did I mention the coffee? Pros: Cool coffee joint Cons: When someone orders their lunch-to-go in the morning and the coffee maker has to make it more

The best coffee in town 5/2/2006

I go to New World almost weekly. It is a great place to meet people or get work done. The atmosphere is unique and calming. It does not have the generic, canned feeling of the chain coffee houses. The baristas are fast and make great coffee. more

Great food, Great Coffee, and Internet too! 3/11/2005

New World Coffehouse is a must for all youre wireless needs. The layout of the restaurant is such that you can sit by yourself or in small groups and work on the internet. It's a great place to meet if you need to work on a project but don't want to do it in the office or at school. There is always a lunch special, and the wraps are great. They are served with sun chips, making it a low-calorie lunch option. They even have delicious vegitarian options. The ambiance is the best I've seen in a coffeshop: the furnature is a comfortable, the artwork is inspiring, and the service staff is friendly and professional. The music in the background is composed of rock favorites, but nothing too loud. If you haven't been to this coffeehouse located off Glenwood Avenue between Best Buy and Wal-Mart, you are really missing out. Pros: Organic Coffee, Healthy Food, Experienced Staff more

Excellent Coffee 3/8/2005

New World serves excellent coffee and has a great selection of fresh-roasted beans to enjoy at home. No trip to Raleigh is complete without a stop there. They serve food late and are friendly. Enjoy! more

secret hideaway 3/6/2005

I really enjoy going to New World Coffee because of the atmosphere. I can take my work there and not have to worry about being bothered by others and also get good coffee or tea while I work. It's also a great place to catch up with friends in a relaxing environment where you don't have to scream over loud music and can find a comfortable place to sit. more

Try the Soups! 3/1/2005

The soups are handmade and delish! Mixture of great coffee and non-coffee drinks, hot or cold. Sandwiches are BIG! The ambience is funky, comfortable cool. Inside and outside seating. Background music is mixed and easy on the ear, no elevator music here. more

Good Coffee, Good Food, Nice Atmosphere 2/28/2005

New World has great atmosphere and wireless internet access. They also have really healthy, tasty food and fun coffee drinks. Avoid the desert case if you are on a diet - they are delicious and definitely naughty! I meet friends here on a weekly basis to read, surf the net, and chat. Pros: Good food and coffee, Wireless Internet, Nice atmosphere more

new world Rocks! 2/28/2005

I've been a regular customer of New world for almost 7 years now... Definately my preferred N. Raleigh Coffee shop. They have never disappointed. Recent addition of free wireless for customers has sweetened the deal. Local ownership is also a big plus. Pros: Comfy couch area, Locally owned Cons: uncomfy cafe chairs more

Best coffee shop ever!!! 2/28/2005

This place rocks and there is nothing more to say! more

Great 2/28/2005

This is a great ""local"" coffee house. I almost don't want others to find out about it becuase I want to keep the place to myself. Such a cozy place to hang out and talk. The food is excellent as well. more

Great place!! 2/28/2005

I love the coffee, and their wraps. My favourite is the Little India wrap, too delicious for words! Pros: Fun atmosphere, clean more

Fair Trade Coffee With Fantastic Food! 2/27/2005

For me, the best thing about New World is that they serve all the things a coffee-drinker's friend wishes they could get - great wrap sandwiches and soup for a real meal; all the other beverages, including sodas, smoothies, the best hot tea choices, and even good iced tea, too; and a large variety of delicious desserts and snacks. But the coffee drinker would also prefer New World because they serve Fair Trade, Shade Grown coffee and use premium blends even for their drip coffee. Plus, it's the best place in Raleigh for post-university intellectuals - the furnishing is supremely comfortable, the music is good (not just background/boring), and they have free Wi-Fi access. Pros: Delicious Food, Comfortable Seating, Wi-Fi Cons: can be crowded-lunch more

OUTSTANDING!!!!! 2/27/2005

I love this place!!! The people are great, the food is awesome, and the coffee is Larry's Beans...perfect!!! more

Do some work, or meet some friends 2/27/2005

Great drinks, delicious food and an unpretentious atmosphere. I found it was a great environment for getting work done if you are telecommuting and want to 'get out' for a while (free wireless!). Its also great for meeting friends to chat over coffee. The best part is that there aren't lots of college or high school kids hanging around ;) Pros: great coffee, good food, free wireless more

More than just ""coffee shop"" 2/27/2005

The sign out front says ""coffee shop,"" but step inside and you'll forget you're in a strip mall. This is the neighborhood coffee house we all look for. Regulars are greeted by name with their brew of choice. I like to drop off my car for an oil change at Merchant's Tire and walk over to the coffee shop for a hot mocha and the free wireless access. Board games, news, etc. make sharing this space with friends an easy alternative for spending free time. Pros: Good parking, Flexible staff more
