New Uses is a scam! They COST me $20!! 12/14/2011

I had a vacuum cleaner in good condition to sell; had spent more than an hour to clean it up, it shined. They (the Sawmill store) wouldn't even look at it if I didn't put in a new filter. A new filter costs $20. I went on the spot, bought one, put it in. They registered me and had me come back in two hours, so that someone might have time to LOOK at the vacuum and appraise it (their words). When I came back they offered $20 for the vacuum cleaner (they had appraised it at $40 for resale). I explained that only the filter cost $20, and I might as well return the filter and give the vacuum to a friend. But, surprise - they had TESTED the vacuum (on a filthy surface, the canister was half full of horrible garbage) and RUINED the new filter! So now technically I had no choice but to 'sell' it to them - meaning to give them the vacuum for free, and my time and effort to replace the filter as well. If I wanted to buy a used car, test drove it and brought it back half ruined, and then had the cheek to make an offer for half the value of the car, do you think I could walk home scot-free? They should have tested the vacuum when I brought it with the OLD filter, then told me they will buy it at this price IF I replaced the filter. However, I am not in the habit of donating my time, effort and possesions to crooks, so I refused their 'offer' and will donate my vacuum with new filter to my church. Stay AWAY from New Uses! more

Horrible company to do business with!! 5/14/2011

I tried to sell a very nice framed picture that I personally paid $100 for. The picture and frame were in mint condition when I brought it in. I noticed from across the store, when they removed the picture from their shoddy metal rack to review, the back corner and paper was ripped loose. So, now I have a damaged product, that they would not buy because of the damage that they had just personally caused. Not to mention I only got $11 for the products that they did buy off of me which was a total rip off. I sold them 3 other framed pictures and 3 kitchen canisters (all in perfect condition). They are a joke and I will never do business there again. more

A Great Place for Discovery 12/3/2010

I am a shopper and vendor at New Uses Sawmill location, and I have found very unique and different items never found in a thrift store before. Some of my favorite things have come from this store. As a buyer, I am delighted to go in and look around for interesting things at great prices, but as a vendor it is a nightmare. New Uses buys merchandise for little to nothing literally, and most of the time you leave feeling ripped off. As a vendor, I would never sell anything there unless you want to give it away, otherwise as a buyer, you will never know what you will find and you will be quite happy you did! more
