New Uses is a scam! They COST me $20!! 12/14/2011

I had a vacuum cleaner in good condition to sell; had spent more than an hour to clean it up, it shined. They (the Sawmill store) wouldn't even look at it if I didn't put in a new filter. A new filter costs $20. I went on the spot, bought one, put it in. They registered me and had me come back in two hours, so that someone might have time to LOOK at the vacuum and appraise it (their words). When I came back they offered $20 for the vacuum cleaner (they had appraised it at $40 for resale). I explained that only the filter cost $20, and I might as well return the filter and give the vacuum to a friend. But, surprise - they had TESTED the vacuum (on a filthy surface, the canister was half full of horrible garbage) and RUINED the new filter! So now technically I had no choice but to 'sell' it to them - meaning to give them the vacuum for free, and my time and effort to replace the filter as well. If I wanted to buy a used car, test drove it and brought it back half ruined, and then had the cheek to make an offer for half the value of the car, do you think I could walk home scot-free? They should have tested the vacuum when I brought it with the OLD filter, then told me they will buy it at this price IF I replaced the filter. However, I am not in the habit of donating my time, effort and possesions to crooks, so I refused their 'offer' and will donate my vacuum with new filter to my church. Stay AWAY from New Uses! more

Sells stolen items and won't help the victim try to recover valuable items 7/15/2011

Other: Recently had many items stolen from my Mothers Home including 2 antique wicker chairs that belonged to my Grandmother. They'd been in my living room for over 25 yrs until we were trying to sell our house. Stored them at my Mothers for protection. They were stolen 6/5/11 and taken to the Reynoldsburg store. The store bought and sold them the same day. I just found this out this week and they refuse to try to help me recover the chairs. I think this stinks and poor attitude on their part.. more

Reynoldsburg store - won't shop there again! 4/2/2011

I have shopped at the Reynoldsburg store on Hill Road several times, but after today I won't go back & plan on complaining to the corporate office. I was in the store yesterday & saw a child's chair that I was interested in. I wanted to put it on hold, but they said they couldn't because "it had just come in & had to be sterilized" - okay - so I called this morning to see if the chair was still there, which it was, so I wanted to put a hold on it. I was told that they are no longer allowed to take phone holds so I'd have take my chances on the chair still being there when I got to the store. Like an idiot, I rushed over to the store only to find out that it had sold 5 minutes earlier, which seemed to give the employees there quite a good chuckle. One of the employees told me they were no longer permitted to take phone holds because of a problem with two customers who both had been given holds by employees at the store on the same item. The customers got to the store within minutes of each other & subsequently got into a fight over the item in question. The police had to be called due to their fighting in the store. Because of that one situation, the corporate office made the decision to no longer allow phone holds. Good customer service is not a priority - with this store at least. I've been in the store when a customer has brought items in to sell & was treated rudely by an empolyee causing the customer to become angry. If that's how they like to treat customers then I don't need to give them my hard-earned money or time - and if they don't care about losing a customer then I certainly don't want to spend my time or money at New Uses!! I'll stick with Cragislist from now on!! more

Fun Shopping! 10/17/2010

I went into this store on a whim looking for unique pictures for my family room wall. They has tons to choose from. I found brand new pictures in very nice frames for $30 each. They had the original stickers on them - $119. I had fun shopping for cheesy little decorative items and Christmas ornaments. Worth the visit! more

for party stuff 10/6/2005

decor etc..all those things that cost so much money..and you only use once. I had a surprise birthday party for my mom and wanted tons of candles and nice, pretty holders. I went to NU...every few days and with in a couple weeks, I had what I needed and for about 1/4 of what new would have cost. no one knew where I had gotten everything, I got so many great comments and when done, I sold most of it back..made almost 1/2 of what I spent! Yipee!!! Party on a shoe string! more

Can find treasure sometimes 9/17/2005

This is an on/off store. Sometimes I find a great item and then months go by and I don't fins any. Then I go in and find four things. For me, I like to drop in and breeze through to see if I can find anything. Overall though, it can be a great place for people who need the household essentials. more

hit or miss 8/31/2005

you never know what your going to find in this place. i think there are a couple throughout Columbus and all are basically glorified garage sales (with higher prices) As long as you not squeamish about owning someone elses stuff than your ok. otherwise dont go. but you can try and take some of your old stuff and see if you cant make a buck or get something in exchange pretty cheap which is always nice and usually pretty easy to do at these places. more

Ok 8/16/2005

Like a previous member said, this is basically a thrift store. I have been there mnay time, and I have also found lots of great bargains! However, there are times when I go there, and there is absolutly nothing that I would buy. I have also found that alot of time, they are overprices for used items, but still better than buying brand new. It is just a hit and miss kind of thing. Sometimes you will find a deal, but it could be a wasted trip! more

Can find bargains 8/11/2005

This is basically a thrift shop that specializes in home items. So depending on when you go, you might find a lot of bargains, or you could find some crappy stuff. When I was in there last, it seemed like they had fairly nice stuff, but you never know what treasures you'll find when you go in there. more

I love a bargain! 7/31/2005

If you have some things to sell, this is the place for you! They don't always give you top dollar but they are happy to buy your electics, small appliances and general knicknacks/decor for your home that you don't want or need anymore. You can find very good deals, and like a thirft store, many trips equals better deals! Shop often to catch things just as they come in and are put on the shelves! more
