Best Happy Hour All Night Every Night in OC 7/27/2010

Shogun is the best Japanese food in Southern Orange County. The atmosphere in the entire restaurant is friendly, the servers are attentive, warm, and fast. The bar area is a seperate room as you walk in behind the fish tanks. The bartender plays great music that everyone seems to love and has a great personality making everyone feel comfortable, everyone in the bar seems to make friends with one another. They have the best HAPPY HOUR I've seen in a long time!! Their is Happy Hour ALL NIGHT EVERY NIGHT in the bar area. Draft beers, bud lights and small sakes are an amazing $2. Lemon Drop Martinis and Mai Tais are only $5 just to mention a few of the drink specials (there's more) and the sushi is HALF OFF with special offers on cooked items for the non sushi eaters. This place is fun, affordable, and the food is great. You'll have a great experience if you come in. Stop by and say hello to the sushi bar, teppan grill or the bartender, you'll make some great new friends. more

Great food, great prices 9/5/2008

We have gone here many times and the experience has always been positive. The food is great and the service is as well. The front staff doesn't always know the best english but then again you are going to a Japanese restaurant. Occasionally you will get a new chef so he is paying attention to the tricks more than the food but it still tastes good and 9 out of 10 times that we have been there it has been excellent. I had a lemon drop martini for the first time there and it was pretty good. Great food, good prices, decent drinks. Pros: Shrimp appetizer Cons: They only have Japanese beer, DUH! more

Make a reservation before you arrive 6/29/2008

When first time i was visit , I was so surprise the place is little bit old but nice. We like to sit in\r teppan side coz they were cook infront of you. Everything is good food is not bad with the good\r price for my first time experience ..but the only problem is the server is really bad coz they don't\r really understand english well and i facing a lot of problem when we tried to get some order and my\r kid doesn""t feel happy to coz they dont really get what they order anyway that not bad for food and this\r is very nice restaurant to visit.\r \r \r \r Pros: Good food, Ambience Cons: Too slow, Service bad,English bad more

If you can deal with the service, the food is worth it... 5/17/2008

Don't get me wrong, the food and the prices are great. Typically you are seated promptly in either the sushi bar or the teppan room. However, I suggest getting a reservation on weekend evenings. The teppan room is a bit tacky and the place is a bit run down. The most irritating part of the experience is the service staff. They don't speak english and often don't understand it either. They come off as curt and a bit brash and usually cannot be found when needed. But like I said, the food is great and you can't beat the prices. Pros: Prices Cons: Service staff more

Great Sushi for the price. 4/2/2008

1/2 off sushi everyday is the bomb. Dope prices and its a Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese people. Makes sense. Good stuff Koki's teppan is the best in OC but Shogun Sushi is the bomb, Bizness. Pros: Above average sushi for below average price Cons: Drink service is slow. Servers speak shotty english more

Great Sushi and Teppan Tables 9/26/2007

Wonderful Sushi bar ... friendly chefs, traditional and unique sushi rolls and maki ... always excellent. And the value is good - they often have 2 for 1 specials early in the evening. The Sushi bar seats about 20 people, so you can usually get a spot. We started going here because it was close to our house - but soon realized it was also some of the best sushi in South OC.\r \r Then, on a whim, we decided to try the teppan tables (think Benihana). Oh my goodness - what a treat! I used to go to Benihana for the show, and figured the food was just a means to the end. But at Shogun the FOOD is the show! Don't misunderstand - the Teppan chefs are skilled artists and will entertain you ... but the food is truly outstanding! We've had the steak and shrimp, and both were delicious - tender and flavorful. And the accompanying vegetables were terrific (and I'm not a big veggie fan.) The prices are also reasonable for what you get.\r \r Oh, lest I forget, they have a nice variety of sake too. I prefer cold sake, and I've never been disappointed at Shogun. \r \r Enjoy! Pros: Food and ambience Cons: none! more

I have been going to Shogun for many many years, I love it, although sitting in the dining room can be a pain because the waitresses suck and hardly speak english, but I love the food, so I deal with it. Sushi bar rocks, Teppan room is awesome!! Pros: Sushi Bar, Teppan Room Cons: crowded, waitresses more
