I would give this business less than 1 \r
star if I were able to.\r
I have been bringing my dog to this \r
facility for 7 years. I am sure I have \r
spent thousands of dollars there. \r
Due to a family issue I re-homed \r
Lola with my friend and neighbor, who was \r
thrilled to take her. Lola was a rescue \r
dog that was not socialized\r
and was abused. She must have learned \r
early on that if she snapped, people left \r
her alone, and this is what she \r
did. She also bit - she has \r
bitten me, her new owner and all of my \r
family and friends. I didn't have the \r
heart to euthanize her, as I could not \r
re-home her (My friend already knew \r
Lola's issues when she adopted her).\r
Last week, my neighbor told me that Lola \r
had bitten her very badly. I called the facility\r
in the AM and got a price of $40.00 for \r
the euthanasia with a communal cremation. \r
I explained to the lady on the phone that \r
both my neighbor and I were legally \r
disabled and every penny counted to us. \r
I asked her is she could speak to one of the \r
managing partners to see if there was \r
ANYTHING they could do for us on the \r
price. I was not asking for half nor was \r
I asking for free, but even $5.00 would \r
have helped. She was adamant about those \r
being the prices - she is a RECEPTIONIST, \r
WHO is she to make a decision about price? \r
Dr. Perkins called back and was concerned \r
about when the bite occurred, as there was \r
a quarantine issue. He mentioned NOTHING \r
about any help with the price. He had my \r
head spinning about the quarantine that I \r
forgot all about the initial reason he was \r
supposed to be calling back for. I was \r
not about to call him back and beg, as it \r
was obvious that there was going to be no \r
discount given. I called back later that day to make \r
an appt. and spoke to another \r
receptionist. All of a sudden the price \r
of the euthanasia went up to $150.00! Now \r
there is a cost for the office visit. \r
Office visit? They are euthanasing the \r
dog, why is an office visit required? \r
There is a cost for the sedation and there \r
is a cost for the ""disposal"" (Thank you \r
for wording it so compassionately, that \r
really made me feel all warm and fuzzy). \r
I asked why there was a difference in \r
the price and the Lady could not explain it. \r
All the facility is there for is the money.\r
I used to manage a Veterinary Hospital and\r
the Doctor would do anything for anyone if the animal \r
was in distress. Money never mattered to \r
her. Her heart was in the right place, for the sake \r
of the pet and their pain. I cannot imagine any reputable \r
Veterinarian turning someone away because of \r
money. These sedatives and the \r
medication used to ends the pet's \r
life cost very little. If anyone there \r
cared enough, they could have done the \r
euthanasia just for the cost of the \r
medications. But, don't get it twisted, \r
they are there for the ""love"" of the \r
animals.\r
Part of the Veterinarians Oath is ""Being \r
admitted to the profession of veterinary \r
medicine, I solemnly swear to use my \r
scientific knowledge and skills for the \r
benefit of society through the protection \r
of animal health and welfare, the \r
prevention and relief of animal \r
suffering"". Animal suffering. Lola was \r
suffering psychologically-extreme separation \r
anxiety along and severe \r
anxiety. I was a long time, loyal customer and I \r
think the facility could \r
have been done more for me in light of the \r
situation. They were in a position to \r
offer financial help. When you have 2 \r
disabled people with a semi-emergency, you would \r
think more could be done. New Baltimore Animal Hospital is a \r
disgrace. I hope they keep pumping out \r
customers and making their money. I also \r
hope that Dr. Perkins and any other \r
Doctors that were involved in this \r
matter/decision can look at themselves in \r
the mirror. What you give out comes back \r
100 fold.
