More or less the same 5/21/2012

After a lot of claims about being so much better than Micros or Aloha, I have to say that this system is really exactly the same as Micros or Aloha. There is hardly a difference to be seen in the software. The hardware seems to be essentially the same thing. The software is good. Don't get me wrong. But I don't like it any more or less than Aloha, which is what the salesperson guaranteed. Also, they provide a 'generous' extension to a warranty for 5 years. When I pay this much for a POS system, I think I ought to be able to expect that it is going to last 5 years, without having to pay through the nose for an extended warranty. Sure, the warranty costs less than Aloha. But that just means that they are gouging me less than others. I think this is just a way to pick up extra bucks. I would recommend against all these extended warrantees. It is like a used car lot. I will give them credit, though, for having a good price. The system was - as promised - a lot less than Aloha. So, for that, I will give 3 stars. But expect the system to be virtually identical to the Alohas and Micros of the world. There is nothing earth shattering under the hood. more

So far so good 5/21/2012

We are a new customer. So I cannot speak to longevity like some of the reviews in this forum. But we have been very impressed by the features and the support that we have received, in the first few months. I definitely recommend this system to a small restaurant such as ours. I came from chain restaurants and our Nautilus system gave me everything i had in my chain job. We found the price to be very competitive. And I hope that the support, down the line, is as good as other people are saying. more

Excellent System, Excellent Care 5/20/2012

We are just completing our first year with a Nautilus system. I have only good things to say. Due to changes in partnership, we were probably a nightmare. But the Nautilus staff was responsive and helpful. The hardware has been flawless. Not even the slightest problem. We haven't come close to using all the software features, so I can't review them all. But what we have used is easy to understand. The price is hard to beat. Altogether a great system. We would definitely make the same decision, today, if we were buying POS. more

Cutting Edge for an affordable price 10/1/2011

We recently installed Nautilus Retail. We have one terminal, plus 3 tablet units for our floor salespeople. For 10 years, the back to school rush has been a nightmare. This year, it was a joy. We sold over 20% more clothing. And our customers were much more happy. The remote tablets have made a remarkable difference for our store. In fact, the only line at the register was people who were exchanging. I am very pleased. We got way more than we expected for a very low price. more

Highly Recommended 9/12/2011

We now have Nautilus in 8 restaurants, starting in 1999. Over that period, we have had our share of weird events and careless employees. But we were always taken care of. All of our hardware lasted at least 6 years. We are now up to almost 9 years on our third system. Talk about a return on investment! I would recommend the system to anyone - from a huge place to a hot dog stand. more

Worth Every Penny 9/11/2011

We knew we needed POS. But we were not sure that we could afford POS. Then we found Nautilus and our salesman, Ken. He got us an excellent system, with top of the line HP hardware, for barely more than the clowns on eBay want. Ken guided me though the process. The system was very easy to learn and use. The system has kept every promise that Ken made. So, in any case, it is 2 years later. We are negotiating a second location. And we are spending more money with Nautilus. I can't say enough goof things about these guys. more

I give Nautilus a thumbs up 9/11/2011

The good: The hardware rocks. It is very fast and very durable. The software is easy to learn and use. It does everything we ask plus some. Phone support has been excellent. The medium: We have only had the system for a year, and nothing has broken. So it is hard to gauge if the wonderful sounding warranty is great or not. The bad: We have never met our salesman. This is the first time I have bought anything this large, and not even shaken hands with my salesman. We still bought. The system was thousands less expensive than the others. But it is weird to only talk to the guy on the phone, and in webinars. more

The price is the best part 9/8/2011

The best thing, to me, is that we got to trade an annoying salesperson for a couple of thousand dollars discount. This might not be for everybody. Our last POS salesman was around for 2 weeks. We didn't need him, but he was around. With HP, everything is done centrally. Their tech was great. The hardware is very good. The software has more features than we need. Though it does not have one - we ordering, that we would like. It was just a little weird not having the salesman around, like I am used to. But you can't beat the system, for the money. more

Very Good System 9/8/2011

Maybe my view on grading is different. We have had our Nautilus system for almost two years. We haven't had any problems. But I would not expect to have any problems. I do not see anything about this system that can define it from Aloha or Micros. All are virtually the same. All have exactly the same features. So, to me, this makes it average. I will say one thing. the price of Nautilus is a lot lower. if we were asked to grade prices, I would say that it is 5 stars. But in terms of hardware, software, and the people who install it, I say it is identical to Micros or Aloha. more

3 years and going great 9/7/2011

In the interest of full disclosure, I got a letter with my annual Help Desk contract asking us to post a review. We are very happy with our POS system, so were are happy to oblige. I would say that Nautilus has exceeded our expectations in just about every category. I think the most important thing is the ease of use. We are not present on site all the time. We depend on our managers. And this is one easy system. We almost never have issues. And when we do, we can fix most ourselves. We don't use every feature, even though our account manager tries to pitch us on them every year. But it is a very stable system. it is a very fast system. It does what it says. We have had to have a few warranty calls - mostly our fault. Each time, the next day, a new piece arrived. Heck, I can't even get Comcast to return a call in 12 hours, and these guys have a new piece of hardware ready to install. I would highly recommend the system. more

Very Satisfied 9/7/2011

We were first attracted by the Hewlett Packard name. Anything HP has to be pretty solid. And that proved to be true. But the best part of the system is the support and the work that they put into building our system. This isn't our first time through the process. We tried Aloha and swore we would never waste that much money again. And we considered some economical systems, but they seemed fly by night. But the Nautilus guys have been all over our needs, for over a year now. We got a lot more features than expected. The inventory system has proven to be a great tool for us. The reservations system has helped immensely as well. This is the best value on the market. Seriously. Even Aloha did not give us many of these features, and that cost $7000 more. When the old Aloha system finally fails in our other store, we are replacing it with Nautilus. more

Great System. Better Support 8/16/2011

We now have Nautilus in 4 restaurants,and hope to grow to more. It is impossible for a system to provide more features for the money. I'm not sure if there are any more features to add, really. Over the past 5 years, Nautilus has delivered on every promise, and then some. Never have i seen such prompt responses to support calls. Even when we were responsible for breaking a terminal, they replaced it, next day, prior to the doors being open. Service like that is why we keep on buying from Nautilus. more

Highly Recommended 8/15/2011

We had an excellent experience, from start to end, with the guys at Nautilus. They were very professional, thorough, and courteous. We got way more bang for our buck from Nautilus, than from any other offer. Of course, the name Hewlett Packard means a lot. We are confident that if anything does happen, we have an excellent company behind us. I would recommend Nautilus to any business looking for a POS system. You get a lot more than just a cash register. We use the gift card program and the VIP program. We are starting to use the inventory element, because it is way easier than we thought it would be. I think anyone would be pleased with all the features. more

Very pleased with Nautilus POS 7/4/2011

We have a very busy restaurant that does dine in, take out and delivery.We needed a strong system to provide the tools that we have to have. Nautilus met all of our needs. Our hardware has to be very durable, as there is constant traffic, 24 hours a day. We cannot afford to have any terminals fail. And our servers are not very careful. Twice, our employees damaged terminals. And twice, Nautilus was here, next morning, to replace the terminal. The system has all the features we need, and some that we hope to use in the future Right now, we use the delivery tracking, gift cards, VIP program and reservations. We are in business now for 18 months, so I think we can start using the Inventory system soon, I would recommend this system to anyone. We looked at Aloha, Micros, Restaurant Manager, Harbottouch and PixelPoint. Nautilus had the best price of all except Harbortouch - which was a rental system. But Harbortouch had none of the features that we need to be successful. It was just a cash register with colored buttons. For the money, you can't beat Nautilus POS more

Excellent experience 6/28/2011

I really can't say enough about our Nautilus system. It has been almost a year, and we have never had even the slightest problem. The system was installed very professionally. The traiing was convenient and excellent. The system came ready to go. We were able to ring transactions only an hour after the tech arrived. They have been very good about making changes. When ever we had support calls, the responses were amazing. I mean like minutes, if they did not pick up the phone on the first ring. We have been in the business for 30 years. I have bought Aloha, Micros, and PixelPoint before. Nautilus is easily the best of the 4, and was thousands of dollars less expensive. We have not had to use the warranty at all, yet. But we did get a 5 year, onsite warranty. No other vendor was willing to match that. And I trust HP to get the job done right. more

Very Pleased with Nautilus POS 3/15/2011

We are about to purchase our second Nautilus system, for a second site. Our first system outdid itself. It delivered on everything promised, and then some. I would recommend this company to any restaurant or bar. It is very easy to use. Even our new managers caught on right away. It has many features that other companies wanted to charge us for. We use the Gift Card System, Customer Loyalty System, Table Interface / Reservations, and Inventory. All were included in the base price. The price was also very affordable. We paid $24,000 for a 6 terminal system,. That was $6000 lower than any other company. And it included a 3 year warranty. We have had the system for 18 months and have never had anything break. But it is nice to know that it would be replaced, tomorrow, if something did break. As far as I am concerned, you cannot go wrong with Nautilus. more

Great System. Better Value. 3/1/2011

Pros: Very affordable. Great support plan. Good trainer. Everything was done for us. Professional technician. Easy to use. 5 year replacement Warranty. Cons: No Local Salesperson. Thats about it. Then again, who really wants to talk to a salesperson after you buy something? Unlike other system we looked at, it seems like the Nautilus people really want to work with small businesses. We only have two terminals. Other companies had no time to talk to us. Our Nautilus salesman called almost every day, as we got trained and installed. I would tell any small retail store to buy Nautilus more

Terrific Retail POS 12/6/2010

We have found the entire Hewlett Packard team to be excellent. Our terminals are very sleek and compact. The program is very easy to use. Nautilus did absolutely everything for us, including the installation, training, and our inventory. There were o hidden charges. We use the gift card module, VIP module and inventory. All were included in our base price, which was really low in the first place. I would definitely recommend Nautilus if you are looking for a good value for retail point of sale. more

A good POS system at a great price 7/12/2010

We feel we got an excellent value from our Nautilus system. For those who have bought POS before, it is a very different model. Training is done via webinar. This turned out to be nice, as we did it from our home, on a Saturday. But it is different from what we expected. The system came completely programmed though. We were able to go live the day it arrived. But the installer did not know our database. Our tech was actually on the phone and dialed into the system. It was a good experience ? just different. Pros: Excellent Price. Good Hardware. Lots of features Cons: Everything is done by phone and webinar more
