Nationwide Van Lines was an impressive and professional act from start to finish. I was moving from a spot in rural central Pennsylvania that most other movers claimed they could not service. Only one other company offered to provide moving services, and they were strict in terms of what dates they would do the move - showing no flexibility whatsoever.\r

Nationwide was a breath of fresh air compared to all of these other whiners. From the first time I spoke with Rachel, my dynamite sales rep, it was clear she had a different approach. She asked the right questions. She provided informative e-mails that made me think about how to prepare for my move. She called - and called again. And again. And then I finally made up mind to go with them. Based on my experience to that point, how could I not?\r

We had a multi-state move from PA to Maine with a 10-day window to pack and move, so we were bundles of nerves. The dispatcher called two days in advance to ensure he had clear directions to our place, which was out in the sticks and not easy to get to. The movers arrived a little late, but got right to work. After meeting the guys, I felt comfortable enough to leave and get out of their way to let them to their job as I headed north for the closing the following morning.\r

They arrived two hours after our closing the next day - an 8.5 hour journey from PA to Maine - and expertly moved everything into our new home within hours. I had some other items in the the garage I moved from a local spot - instead of leaving right after the truck was emptied, they offered to help me move those extra items into the appropriate rooms for no charge. I had them give me a hand with two pieces my wife wouldn't have been able to handle easily, and thanked them for offering to help with the rest but cut them loose. After all, they had to do it all again the next day. Their job here was done.\r

The entire experience was pleasant, and every person at Nationwide I dealt with was friendly, courteous and professional. Their ""8-step"" rule is kind of ridiculous - actually it is downright stupid, given most staircases are 12-14 steps - but they do tell you about it in advance, so I couldn't really whine when they added a few extra bucks on top of the bill for additional stairs. \r

However, let me perfectly clear - they absolutely made sure up front that the price of the move was otherwise firm. Rachel carefully went through the list of items with me room by room, making changes to the list as we added and dropped items. Instead of giving us an up-front ""guesstimate"" and then charging us an extra $1500 after the move, they intelligently calculated a price that they stuck to. \r

Nationwide may not be the most well-known moving company, but they are absolutely the best one I have dealt with. I highly recommend them.
