We travel to Florida every year. Every year I look into renting a car. I always take the car where I'm given the best quote. I have a membership to Entertain Rewards so I always have some kind of coupon. This time, National was the cheapest quote. I got a free weekend day and was quoted $70 for a three day rental. On the confirmation there was a line that said that the coupon has been applied and gave a code for that coupon. After I booked the car, the confirmation paper said to print out this page and present it to the counter person. I follow instructions well, so that's what I did. When we arrived at the counter I was told that I need to print out the physical coupon. Nowhere on the confirm did it say that I needed to print out the coupon. I was enraged. The counterperson was not at all helpful. I offered to print out the coupon at my destination and bring it in to be applied, but they refused. The bottomline was that the rental that was to cost $70 turned out to cost $118. That's a pretty big difference!!!!!! I thought I'd have better luck calling customer service, but I called several different numbers and spent quite a bit of time on the phone to basically be told that there is nothing I can do. Needless to say, I'll never rent from them again. It's not the money so much as it's the lack of flexibility in there customer service. I felt as if I was tricked out of $50. It's not worth your time. The staff at the counter were rude and so were the service people on the telephone. It's totally ridiculous if you ask me!!!!!!!
