Banana Cream Pie Heaven 12/18/2010

When I was a kid I would not eat bananas. My wonderful Grandmother brought home a banana cream pie from National Bakery. She made me try a bite and I have been hooked since then. I'm now 57 years old and no other banana cream pie compares and believe me I'v tried many over the years. I'll be bringing the pie to my family's Christmas celebration, a tradition for 25 years. more

My Great Grand father opended this Bakery 8/16/2009

I would like to share this with everyone who writes on this page. My great grand father opened this bakery. With a ton of hard work also his loving wife they did it. It started on 5th and beacher and was moved to 16th st. because of the freeway. We are so proud of them. My great Uncles kept the dream alive with tons of hard work. It no longer belongs to my family. I hope everyone enjoy's it. May the dream keep growing. more

Bakery 10/4/2007

I have never been to this place without standing in a line. The line moves quickly so you need to know what you want. The breads are the freshest and there are treats for all tastes. more

Great Bakery! 9/22/2007

I love this bakery. The white iced long johns are out of this world. They are always very busy which is a good sign of a faithful following. For something different try the sauerkraut rye when it's available. more

Good fresh bakery 10/17/2005

I do not go to National too often but do stop when I am in the area. They have a good selection of breads, hard rolls , donuts and other sweets all of which I found to be very good. They have a deli section which I felt was adequate. You need to get here early if you wnt to get your favorites as they do run out of things from time to time, which means either their bakery is good or they don't make enough, I am betting on it being good. PROS: Good quality products, and fresh . CONS: Due to the popularity of the bakery from time to time it gets too crowded.. more

Donuts to Die For 9/10/2005

National Bakery has donuts to Die For. But they are more than that. The donuts are always fresh-baked and you can definitely tell. The fresh-made bread is light and delicious. The deli section has a wide variety of meats and salads or go-alongs. Once you try this place, you will be hooked. more
