chinese seafood 1/26/2010

great seafood, we orderd walnut shrimp, garlic lobster, ox tail in red wine. The staff seem to know alot of the customers. I guess they have alot of return chinese customers. which made think it was authentic. I don't know because I am not chinese, but it must have been because it was fresh and better then any chinese I have had before. Pros: varitey more

A Great Place, Excellent Food 4/14/2007

I tried this Nathan's because of the name. I used to visit a ""Nathan's Cafe"" in Burlingame, CA., they also only served great Chinese food. Unfortunately, that Nathan's closed a few years ago (the owners retired). The name here is purely coincidental (I asked), but the food is equally amazing. Menu items I couldn't find at other Chinese restaurants since the Burlingame closure I now have at his Nathan's. The service was good; the waitress was very cordial and efficient. I will definitely be a regular customer. more

The best Chinese restaurant in Elk Grove, California 9/27/2006

First of all, I am a Chinese and I judge Chinese food not from a western perspective. This is the best Chinese restaurant in Elk Grove. A place where I can eat the more authentic chinese food. Also at par with the very good Chinese restaurants in other parts of Sacramento. Mu mom is a very picky when it comes to Chinese. She cooks very good chinese food. She also loves this restaurant and we visit this restaurant whenever she comes to town. One cannot judge a Chinese restaurant based on chow mien alone. Drive to Sac for better food and better service 7/11/2005

We recently moved up from SoCal and decided to try this restaurant for some Chinese food. Ordered beef with black bean sauce chow mein. The waitress seemed really confused so I said ""do you have beef with black bean sauce chow mein?"" She said no as if it were something totally unusual. I looked at the menu and saw beef with black bean sauce chow FUN. So I said, ""why don't you substitute chow FUN with chow MEIN???"" They did it but with major attitude and when I got home, I found they used the fat spaghetti noodles instead of the authentic Hong Kong style thin noodles. Reminded me of the movie with Jack Nicholson movie...tuna sandwich and hold the tuna :) Pros: N/A Cons: Bad service, Indifferent service more

Not bad 3/8/2005

I thought the food wasn't too bad, considering it is practically the only authentic Chinese restaurant in Elk Grove. The service was terrible. The waiter was slow and the food took a long time to get to us. It was not a busy time of day and there were 5 tables total. Authentic Chinese Cuisine 1/1/2005

I always go to Nathan's with my parents. They love the food there, and they always say it's very authentic Chinese cuisine. They should know (they're Chinese). The interior is a pretty bad shade of light turqouise, but otherwise the seating is the standard chinese restaurant style. The food is affordable and served up quickly. We love Nathan's! 12/16/2003

I thought the name ""Nathan's"" was unusual for a chinese restaraunt. So we had to try it. We were not disappointed. It is a nice, clean restaraunt. The food is consistantly excellent. The sweet and sour pork is fantastic. The service is friendly and the owner will take time to chat with you. The only drawback to me is that they use a lot of bell pepper and onion, which I can't digest, but I pick around it. Pros: Excellent food, Good service, Close parking more
