Pants on fire... 12/27/2008

I had recently contacted this funeral home to handle the death of a relative and was told that they were too busy to take care of us.\r I read the obituaries and didn't see any acceptable reason for this statement. I know of other funeral direcotrs that care for multiple families at the same time. They only had one other service scheduled and it was a creamation - I checked. \r I have since heard that they do this to other people all the time.\r These people are either incredibly full of themselves or completely inept, I really have not decided. But, I can tell you that the owner lied to me directly over the phone. How can you place your trust in that? Pros: did not have a chance to find out Cons: lying more

Very Professional Service During Delicate Time 6/3/2008

My Mom passed away in 2007 and we used Nat & Gawlas because of positive past affiliations with their services (relatives) ; also it was at my Moms' request. They were very professional in all the planning details, and helped guide us through the funeral processes. Any special requests were also dealt with with no hinderances. From the initial visit to the interrment was all done professionally and with great compassion, as those were tough times for us. Steve then followed up with phone calls and a visit to see if he could be of any help during our bereavement period. Pros: Professional; Compassionate more

Very Caring and Professional 3/26/2008

My family used Nat & Gawlas on March 24 for my mother's viewing and March 25 for the beginning of the morning funeral services. From the first meeting with Steve Gawlas our concerns and questions were met with the utmost professionalism and with a deep felt concern for the feelings of the family members. \r \r All of the funeral personnel were professional in appearence and knew exactly what they were suppose to do at any given time. The inside of the funeral home is clean, well lit and decorated very tastefully. Steve Gawlas took care of all of the many background details for our family and brought to our attention the ones that were important for us to make the decision.\r \r This is the second time my family has used Nat & Gawlas and we have been very satisfied with the services both times. more

what's the attraction 11/14/2007

the undertaker smelled like beer when we arrived for our private showing before the public came. my grandmother almost had to walk up the hill from the parking lot before some guy in jeans and a 'company jacket' came to direct us up to the special lot in front. we walked into the viewing room to see all of these chairs packed up on the sides - i think they were folding chairs - and a wall of flowers surrounding my uncle's coffin. The lighting was kind of dim and it was hard for my gram to see very well - she bumped into chairs every time she got up. The facility is typically 'funeral home white' on the outside with hideous green shades on the inside. They also had a floral basket hanging outside the front door - really tacky. The best thing about the whole funeral was the limo and the driver told me that they were rentals, which I believe because they did not match the owners cars - beige car and van with black hearse and limo - wow. These people need a lesson in class. On the other hand, they were pretty far from relaxed - one might even say pushy. Pros: none that I can think of Cons: facility, property, staff more
