Nassau Optical

I worked in the eyeglass industry for many years and know the ins and outs of sales. I found a pair of glasses I liked in the mall but didn't purchase because they didn't accept my insurance. So I went to central Nassau optical already knowing the ballpark price of the frame and when she got all my info and started pricing she jacked up the of the frame by $120 from $379 to $499. So basically my insurance covered nothing. Since I used to work in the industry I am aware of how they get paid through the insurance companies. So basically they are double dipping. So disappointing. more

There used to be countless negative reviews on the web about this joint, that have miraculously disappeared somehow. the girls somehow KNEW what my insurance was covering without even looking at my card. And told me i wasnt covered for anything. I called my insurance company and they flat out told me that the store was trying to rip me off, and that the insurance company DID pay for exams. Skip ahead, I went in there wtih muscle and they looked scared and refunded my money. Not without giving me a hard time when I asked for a copy of my prescription, which is THE LAW that they have to provide it. They tried to make me order contacts from them, and gave me a whole story about rebates. When i looked closer at the rebate certificate it had Expired a year ago, and i wasnt even ordering enough boxes of contacts to qualify. They also gave me a hard time about putting updated lenses in a pair of frames that were bought as an accessory (lenses had no perscription). they said they couldnt do it, so when i took them back i said i would try the guy in the flea market, and all of sudden they amazingly had the technolocy and know how to change the lenses. WOW. They must think people are stupid. NEVER GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVER EVER EVER. there used to be tons of reviews online with the same story.... Dont bother, there are many many other places on long island to chose from. Skip these creeps! more

Central Nassau Optical was terrific. They gave me an appointment for the day I called. The doctor was great with my daughter and explained what was going on in terms understandable to a lay person. They could not get in touch with my insurance company at the time but proceeded with the exam and called the next day to let me know the insurance coverage amounts. The help choosing frames was very professional and helpful. I am making appointments for myself and my other child today. I will continue to use their services and to reccommend them. more

Central nassau optical is located on hempstead turnpike in the king kullen shopping center. They have a huge selection of contact lenses at really low prices. They accept HIP for exams and glasses and no referrals are needed. In most cases you will receive on hour service. A free eye exam is given with each contact lenses exam. You can choose from hundreds of frame styles including SV and plastic lenses which are lightweight and easier to wear. more
