Nan "Pet Nanny"

We found Nan just in the nick of time. We had to go out of town unexpectedly and our regular sitter was not available. We have two dogs, Jazzi and Bebop. We were a little worried about leaving Bebop with a new person. She is very skittish and is afraid of new people. When Nan came over, Robert called me at work to say "" Well, I've never seen anything like this. Bebop was the best I've ever seen her with anyone. "" Nan told us we could call her to check in. When we checked in by phone, she told us that everything was great. Jazzi was all over Nan and by the third day, Bebop had warmed up to her enough to get petted by her. We were so thrilled. When we got back, Nan had left a written journal of the pet sitting days and recorded how the dogs were doing each day. We were very touched by this sweet and thoughtful gesture. I could tell by reading the journal that Nan had fallen in love with our dogs. We absolutely love Nan and have officially voted her into our pack. more

She's always been very proactive about animal health (and emotional) health and when my Kittyboy was diagnosed with diabetes, she made herself readily available to talk answer questions and get him to a equilibrium. Nan recently cared for my two big dogs while I was out of the country. I had to be gone for two weeks and was looking for better care for my dogs than I feel they receive whenever I board them. I have used pet sitters in the past but always felt a little uncomfortable having strangers in my home. Nan is a completely different story. She has lived in Austin since she was a kid. She works as a vet tech and has a solid track record of caring for animals. She is an established professional. It is obvious when you meet Nan that caring for animals is her passion...not just an odd job she does to pay the bills. Nan visited my home 2-3 times each day and made sure the dogs were fed/watered and left either inside or out depending on the temperature. With these hot summer days I really needed a pet sitter who could be flexible and come when needed to give the dogs some relief from the heat. She did just that. I had casually asked Nan to water our orange tree as well. She later told me that she wasn't sure how to care for citrus trees so had gone online and researched it. Whatever research she did has paid off...my tree looks amazing! She also left me a daily journal which was a very enjoyable read upon my arrival back home. I was so impressed with the level of care she provided for my dogs that I think our boarding days are over. I could not be happier with the service I received and highly recommend Nan. I first met Nan when a co-worker recommended the Vet's office where Nan works. On my first visit I picked up her petsitting card. She has been a lifesaver, taking care of my pets on short notice. I've got dogs, cats and plants and all were cared for as if they were her own. I was very impressed with the way Nan took thorough notes and made a house visit prior to my trip so that she could learn everything she needed. When I got home, the animals were as content as could be, I had a detailed report of their daily activities, the mail was brought in, the porch light was on and the plants were alive! What a relief to finally be able to go somewhere and know it's all under control in her capable hands! more

Nan is the answer to all your pet sitter needs!!! The most reliable person I have found that goes the extra mile for my two large breed dogs. I can leave town now with out any worries and know that when I come back there will be a full report on what went down when I was gone. I am a dog trainer/dog behaviorist who has a couple of special needs dogs. I have been impressed with her since the first time she took care of Buster and Shaka two years ago. I had a lot of very specific and important instructions that needed to be followed in order for everything to go just right. I feel 100% confident my 5 pets are getting the BEST care with Nan. Even with an insulin dependent dog, I no longer worry when I leave town. What a relief for a huge over protective, picky, veterinary technician of a mom! I hadn't left my dogs any where overnight since my dog became diabetic until I met Nan.
