Repair of Bulova Accutron 218 6/29/2013

After my local jewelry store informed me that my 1972 Bulova Accutron 218 was unable to be repaired due to a lack of parts I decided to send it to Mr. Piker based on the favorable reviews on the internet. Mr. Piker responded promptly to all of my e-mails inquiring about the status of the repair. I have been wearing the watch now for almost a month and it keeping time as accurately as when it was new. I highly recommend Mr. Piker to anyone who has a vintage Accuitron in need of repair. Mr. Piker will continue to work on the watch until he is satisfied that the watch is running properly before he returns it. more

Accutron Repair 6/8/2013

I inherited a classic Accutron Astronaut watch from my uncle which needed a complete servicing to restore it to full aesthetic and working condition. In searching for someone to do this I felt that Bob at Mybib.net would be able to do this and at a better price than anyone else, and he came through on both counts. My Astronaut came back to me looking and running like it did when it was new. I highly recommend Bob to anyone who has an Accutron watch that needs any type of service, you won't be disappointed. Accutron repair 5/29/2013

Bob worked really hard to solve problems on a 45 year old Accutron watch that I sent him for repairs. The problems were subtle and required shipping the watch back and forth three times to solve, but he stuck with it, never charged additional money for the extra work he performed, and was not satisfied until I was satisfied. Very professional level work, and always done with enthusiasm and good humor. I am impressed and would not hesitate to send repair work to him in the future. more

Vintage Accutron 5/23/2013

Fast and honest service! Bob was straightforward and always prompt to respond to my emails/requests. As soon as he fixed my watch, he let me know and it came to me quickly. Bob cleaned up an old Bulova and replaced the coils. I will be sending my watch for service again to him and recommend others to do the same! more

Not what i expected 5/19/2013

I sent three Accutrons to this man to have repaired. He told me he would take a look at them and let me know what he thought. I was concerned with one especially. After looking at them, he advised all was well and he could do the $225 services on each and there should be no problems. After quite some time, i got them back and i had problems with all of them. I set, wore , re-set and wore all three. One ran for a while and stopped, one ran too fast , one ran ok. Eventually all stopped running. I sent one back at first, then again, then again, and then again. Got around to sending the second one back, and then the third. It was back and forth and each time, he said: i think i got it this time. He admitted he was frustrated at one, and then another and so on and yappity-yap-yap. He then told me i would have to spend more money to get them right as they all now somehow were not worth repairing in the first place. Odd, seemed like they were worth it over $700 ago. He does answer emails and seems to keep you informed along the way, as long as it's good enough news to keep you coming back. He seems to be well thought of from quite a few other customers, but i feel he strung me along to get my money and then dumped my watches back on me when he got in over his head. I made him aware i was not at all pleased at which time he told me he had spent much more time on my watches than he should have already and began to explain how much extra he did. Bottom line.....$700 spent on two watches that don't run and one that 's not running as it should. This is your man if you want to waste time and money. Listen to the other Accutron techs when they say beware of the cheaper guys. Mike Hatley more

Impecable Work on Spaceview 5/17/2013

Inherited a 1967 Accutron Spaceview that belonged to my dad and recently commissioned Bob to revamp it. His work was fantastic. Not only was the case polished and shiny, the insides were cleaned and lubricated, new hands were installed, the chapter ring was sent out to be redone, and new lume was applied to the watch. I can honestly say this 45-year-old watch looks brand new. It also keeps very accurate time and now runs on modern batteries. Some positives on his service too: 1) Quickly and expertly gave estimate 2) Updated me throughout the process 3) Accurately estimated when watch would be completed. I cannot recommend Bob enough. He is truly passionate about these historic timepieces and treats each like his own. more

Bulova Astronaut Expert Technician 1/11/2013

Bob Piker is one of only a few very professional experts in the field of repair/renovation/service of these late-1960's-era watches, unique in every way. His expertise is second none and he helped solve a peculiar problem with the watch. He accepts nothing less than perfection, and it's hard to find a guy like that in this business. However, exceeding that is his professionalism, customer care and courtesy. His decency as a man, and expert as a Craftsman are second to none and exceed many. You will NOT go wrong with this man. Accutron Service/Restoration 11/19/2012

I had Bob Piker service my old Accutron 214. I've had it since new in the 1960's, and it had only been serviced once during that time. So, on the recommendations I found on a watch forum, I sent it off. I also had him convert it to a Spacewiew. Not only did I get it back sooner than expected, his work is stellar! Only Bob will be servicing my Accutrons in the future! more

Excellent results 9/24/2012

I was looking to get my 1972 vintage Accutron space view watch repaired and emailed Bob at Mybob.net explaining as best I could - what seemed wrong. Bob was extremely helpful & responsive, and assured me that he could get my watch back in like new working order without extreme costs. I sent it off to him and quickly received back his assessment, repair quote, and time frame for return. Bob was true to his word and did an outstanding job on my Accutron. It now looks and operates like new - and he was extremely fair in his pricing. There were no surprises and I could not be more pleased. Without a doubt, this is the guy to go to for your Accutron repairs (my local watch repairer would not touch the Accutron and Bulova is not interested in servicing a vintage watch). Thank you Bob! more

Accutron Watch repair 7/18/2012

I have to commend Bob Piker for the fine job that he did in repairing my Accutron Spaceview watch. I explained my problems with the watch to him and he quoted me an estimate for repairing the watch, based on the information that I had provided to him. I sent the watch to him and he did an excellent job in repairing and cleaning it along with replacing the crystal with an original crystal and replacing the battery. The watch looks really good and runs great. In addition to Bob repairing the watch for the cost that he quoted, he included an extra battery for the watch when he returned it. He also turned the watch around in less time than he originally quoted. I highly recommend him for repair to the older, meticulous accutrons. He has shown me to be a very honest person who can be trusted. more

Vintage Accutron Watch Repair 7/10/2012

I received my Accutron today and it looks very nice and it runs without complaint. It goes about it's business without my attempting to intervene and stomp my foot and the neighbors fail to yell. All is fairly peaceful. Thanks for attending to all the details and having the tolerance to hear out an old voice. I promise to keep it out of the mud fights and treat the watch like a more cooperative and more responsible watch owner should be expected to. It has been a true pleasure doing business with you. You can count on me to advertise your professional services. Thank you for everything. ...Byron Doyle more

Part 2 5/11/2012

I assumed I would be so blown away by the end product that no words were necessary. I rushed home to find my space-view waiting for me. I opened the box to find my space-view still attached to the twist o flex band that I asked Bob to leave off. I looked deeper in the box as Bob promises on his site to return any worn parts…….no old coil. The inner workings of the watch looked good which is what I expected. To my untrained eye, the case looked no different than when it was sent to Bob. It certainly did not look like it “just came from the factory” from the top down. I was left with a hohum feeling and was reminded of the joys of doing business over the internet and phone where you are not communicating directly with each other. Today I happened to luck into a shop near work that happens to repair very high end antique watches while looking for a band. The owner was fantastic and had exactly what I was looking for. I told him the story about my watch and how I just received the watch back from servicing yesterday. As he was replacing the band, he had a bit of a disappointed look and after removing the twist o flex. He brought the watch over. He told me that I should avoid whoever serviced the watch in the future because there was dirt in the lugs and the twist o flex had never even been removed during the servicing of the watch. As I said, I am a civilian, but after spending $150 for a cleaning, I would expect the watch to be…...clean. To be fair, I don’t think I gave Bob the impression that I wanted to spend a ton more money however I don’t think Bob gave me an accurate account of the services that I would receive. To also be fair I am 97% sure Bob had to replace the coil however I would have been 100% sure had he sent the old one back. Should I be having this conversation directly with Bob?????? Maybe. The problem is that I will not go through the trouble of sending the watch back through the mail so why bother talking to Bob about my unhappiness. Bob should also expect that when customers are sending their watc more

If Mediocrity is what you desire, Bob Piker is your man 5/11/2012

Part 1 A few months back, my dad had decided to give my his space-view watch that had had worn on his wrist daily since 1968. The watch had definitely seen a lot of wear. Somewhere along the way, he dropped the watch and it had stopped working. I had a difficult time finding anyone local to repair the watch so my online search began. Among other sites, I ran across Bob Piker and mybob.net. The website looked to be the most professional and I liked the story and the sound of Bob taking loving care of your time piece and restoring it to its former glory. After talking to Bob, I was convinced that Bob would steer me correctly. The communication with Bob seemed to be no issue in the process and we decided that I would go ahead and send the watch for evaluation. I already had a good idea that I would be looking at a coil repair so I knew I would be looking at $225 there plus service at $150. I was considering adding a band but was on the fence with N.O.S. as I wasn’t really a fan of black. At any rate I told Bob that I would buy a band locally. I did however ask Bob to leave the twist o flex band off the watch after servicing. I made the assumption that The band had to come off to completely clean the case. Bob received the watch and we again talked about it now that he had the watch in front of him. He gave me the bad news that coil indeed needed to be replaced. We talked about the poor condition of the case and Bob explained to me that he could make it look new again however it would be fairly costly to do so. I wasn’t so concerned with the back but I wanted the parts you could see to look good. Bob explained that when he cleaned the watch and buff the case that from the top down it would look like it came from the factory. I also talked about the crystal but bob said mine was not to bad so he didn’t seem overly concerned of its looks. That sounded good enough for me as I plan to wear the watch. To my surprise the watch was actually done at least a week or two before I expected it. more

MyBob.net is the best! I love my Accutron! 2/19/2011

I had an old Accutron wristwatch which had been sitting in my drawer. It used to belong to someone I knew years ago and I alway wanted to have it fixed but no one repairs these anymore so I had to do some searching on the internet. I found Bob at mybob.net and inside of a couple of weeks he had it not only working perfectly but looking as good as it must have when my friend bought this watch at least 40 years ago. The hum of this watch is amazing and it's more accurate than other watches that I own. Bob called or emailed me whenever he wanted to let me know his progress and he didn't charge anything to look it over for me. It looks beautiful now and after about $150 I'm confident I'll be able to wear this cool watch for a long time. Hard to believe something as old as this can be made to work as good as it did all those years ago. It's beautiful now and "fully restored". Thanks, Bob. You are professional as it gets. You did a great job! 5 Stars! P more
