Not like Mom's Home Cooked 3/13/2010

We arrived late in the evening. Had a perfect table in a corner. It was busy. We loved the menu and loved the roadhouse feel. Our food had the appeal of "home cooked" but the flavors were much better than mom's. They've taken basic to a new level of goodness. more

Mustards Grill is great dinner 8/28/2009

We were told this was a must when we were in the Napa area. Interesting dinner selections and we had a death by chocolate for dessert. Very good. Want to know if their herbs are fresh? We took a stroll in the herb garden next to the restaurant after dinner. more

The service was average, the food was ok, but relatively expensive, even for Napa. We were there for lunch, which may have been a mistake in that I probably would have appreciated it more at dinner time. more

We ate here on a recent trip and won't be visiting again. The food was very good, but our waitress could've use an attitude readjustment. It ranks among the worst service I've ever had. Unfortunate because the restaurant itself seemed like a nice place. more

Mustards Grill 5/16/2008

This restaurant is on the main highway about 10 miles north of Napa. It is always busy, so reservations are recommended. They have a wide variety of appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. Their selection of seafood entrees is excellent. more

Unfortunately, the horrible service overshadowed the otherwise good food. 4/23/2008

The waitress seemed grumpy and unhappy. She didn't take good care of us. What's worse was that i was overcharged. I didn't see the extra $10 on my bill until i got home. If these jokers get rid of the bad management or employee(s), they should fare much better. more

Good Choice In Napa But There Are Better Choices Overall 9/5/2007

I live within minutes of Napa. For the last twenty years I've been dining at various Napa restaurants. Some very TOURIST oriented and some geared towards locals. Mustard's Grill on Hwy 29 in the Napa Valley (not downtown Napa) is a very good choice worth 3 or 4 stars. Pros: Location, Quality, Price Cons: Severe wine price markups more

Reservations buy nothing 11/8/2006

After asking for a confirmation callback 48 hrs befor arrival you would think it was for a reason. Upon arrival the hostess did not bother to check when told and proceeded to sit us at a less desirable table where I would dine with a pillar next to me. When I asked to move she sat us at another table in even less desirable section. There was a nice table for two which I asked about but was ignored. Most first class restaurants would have seated us here having made and confirmed reservations. My husband and I live in Colorado so when we went to Napa we wanted a great dining experience, we sort of got it at Mustards. We had made a reservation and was promptly seated which was nice considering it was packed on a Saturday evening. However once seated it started to go downhill from there. The service is BAD,BAD BAD, there I said it. The server was rude and acted like we were annoying her by requesting water with our drinks and God Forbid, she looked at us like we had landed from Mars when we requested a beer and a cocktail instead of wine. Now I realize in Napa you are in the heart of wine country, but we had been wine tasting all afternoon and just wanted something other than wine at that point. The cocktail I ordered was sent back twice because it wasn't right and this wasn't some complicated drink. The food was wonderful and so is the setting, but the management really needs to train the waitstaff to be more friendly. Pros: Lovely food, great atmosphere, loved the garden!!! What Sevice? 5/30/2006

Had similar experience as others. Was told our group of 8 would be sat at two four tops together. Waited 90 minutes and another group that came after us was sat at one of the four tops that we waited for. The other half of our group was sat across the room. The other group said they would switch but the manager refused. Just the usual Napa Snobbery. The place was packed, so why give anyone good service? Anyone can manage a Restaurant when it's empty! Went to Sonoma and had dinner at at "Willi's". They were crowded but we still got good service. What a concept!! Pros: Good Food Cons: Service(Management) more

Lives Up To Hype 4/24/2006

It is easy to knock on places with legacies like Mustards, but the bottomline is they still put out excellent food with excellent service in a fun atmosphere. Nothing beats their Niman Ranch cheeseburger with dijon. Other stand outs include hand cut pork chops, pan seared duck breast and nut crusted grilled halibut. Blah, blah, blah... 11/14/2005

My husband and I refer to Mustards as the TGI Fridays of Napa Valley. It's just average. Average food, average service, average drinks... After eating at some of the other places in Yountville, Mustards was a let down. Don't waste you time if you are in Napa Valley for a short time. Pros: Easy Reservations Cons: It's so boring more
