I'm a big fan 11/29/2011

This is a great shop and I've been in and out of almost every music shop from DC to NYC since the 1960's. When Internet and the big store frenzy began, I noticed a change in peoples buying. Most people ONLY think about the price at the time of sale, and when a shop is higher, they scream 'overpriced', without thinking about all the hidden costs on the lower priced item elsewhere (setup, repairs, shipping, maintenance, etc) over time - even if brand new. A friend of mine saved $30 over a MM price at a big store, but then waited 2 months for a WARRANTY repair, that cost him almost $70 in shipping costs anyway. MM does their own repairs - new or used - no shipping cost - quicker repairs - no charge. So - what was the better BARGAIN -- my opinion is that there is no comparison - had he paid the extra $30, he would have saved $40 first time. The Music Museum offers a much better BARGAIN, even if the purchase price is a little higher, because they have saved me tons of money, in the long run - WITHOUT the hidden costs of the Internet and big stores - both before and after my purchase. more

Not a big fan.. 11/26/2011

I went to this music store recently. Thought many of the items were overpriced. It was pretty cluttered too. I have been playing guitar for about 25 years and have been to alot of music stores. I know what the standard costs for alot of these pieces should be. But hey, thats just my opinion. more

Music Museum- it's worth the trip!!! 11/14/2011

I am a Mother of two teenagers and live near Willow Grove, Pa. I am not a musician, but many of my relatives are, my mother, brother, uncle, cousins, and now teenagers. My uncle told me about the Music Museum about 30 years ago, and I have been going there ever since for all my Music related gifts, big and small. It's the best music shop in the world. They sell instruments ready to play, not just hang on a wall. I have never had a problem, and I have never seen a disappointed look at Xmas. The prices themselves are average, but the knowledge and experience this store has, is worth a fortune. I wouldn't go anywhere else, even though it's an hour and a half away. I'll be there for Xmas this year for sure. more

A Music Store Choice for Generations 11/14/2011

I have to speak about the greatest music store in the world. Music Museum has been the place for me and my family for generatipns!!!!!! I have gotten instruments for myself, my children and now my grandchildren. Not only are they excellent deals but Jimmy - the owner -is personable and always encouraging. We never leave the store without a freebie like picks or strings. I would never shop for musical instruments or repairs anywhere else!! more

A Tri-State Institution For Forty Years 11/14/2011

Anybody who has grown up in the tri-state area in the past 40 years and has played music knows that Jim Zaleski's Music Museum is the place to go. Not only is the selection great, but Jim is the nicest store owner ever. A friend's daughter wanted an acoustic guitar for Christmas. Jim hooked them up with the perfect starter guitar and threw in a free case and instructional video. No chain store can match the personalized service Jim provides. more

A Music Institution set in stone on Pitman's Broadway 11/14/2011

If you think that chain stores are the only option when searching for a new or used instrument, you obviously have never heard of the 36 year old institution that is Music Museum in Pitman NJ, Three Main Street storefronts, jam packed, (Literally, you can't walk"" with several hundred guitars, amps, PA systems, and just about anything musical, at every turn) Similar to the legendary Manny's NYC, This place is a historic music pickers Goldmine. You will find what you want, but you will also find the answers you need. If you think you will have to pay more than a catalog price on new items, well that's not true. He matches MAP pricing. The used stuff goes for typical street value, but the owner waits on you and knows his stuff about vintage gear. You're not gonna find that on Ebay, and you certainly can't try-before bidding. This is the hideout for old USA guitars. It is an American institution, that shows no sign of fear from the box stores. more

Best Music Store Around 11/13/2011

I have been shopping here for years and finally got around to reviewing the store. more

must go 11/13/2011

I've been going to music museum for a number of years now and i've always had the best of service. jim seriously knows his stuff and i trust him with all my repairs and set-ups. he has always gone out of his way to help me with whatever rare/vintage/hard to find item i'm looking for; and has even picked up instruments that he knew i was specifically looking for. always great service, crazy equipment and vast knowledge. more

Epic Find 11/13/2011

A few years ago, my uncle found the Music Museum and found his passion. A short time later, he had his first guitars and equipment purchased from a man of infinite patience and passion. That Christmas I discovered what my uncle found. ten minutes later, my uncle left on a secret mission. He came back with my first guitar kit, a setup recommended by Jimmy and insured by the man to survive all a teenager could throw at it. That guitar has endured years jamming and, while it is no longer my primary, still sounds like the day I got it when I pick it up and reminisce. Over the years, Jimmy has repaired countless pieces of equipment between me, my dad, and Uncle Bob. He's taken an acoustic with it's head snapped clean off and fixed it like new. You have to know where to look to find even the vaguest hint of damage. My dad's bass took a tumble as well, and was left with a similar war injury. We drove from DC to Pittman just for Jimmy to work his magic and, when he found out we had to head home the next day, he worked through the night to have it ready for us. I have never seen a man as knowledgeable and skilled in his craft as Jimmy, nor a man so immersed in a job he loves. If you need anything related to music, the Music Museum is your place. more

Great service!!!!! 11/13/2011

My band needed subs for our system. Jimmy called all around and happened to find a set to match our system in Florida. Within a week the the subs where here and in our hands. I have known Jimmy for years and he has always come through for me. He also told us how to get the best quality out of our system. He is a wealth of great information. Thanks Jim.... more

JUST FOUND THE GUITAR OF MY DREAMS 11/13/2011

I am a long time patron to the Music Museum and have made countless purchases, deals, and repairs done by the owner JZ. I stop in every so often, 4-5 times a month, and always ask the same question when I walk in.. 'What's the new cool thing you got in this week Jim?' and without fail, Jimmy will pull something crazy cool and vintage out and make me want to tap my savings account on the spot. I had just been in last night and Jim pulls out from the back a 62 Gibson SG Standard, cherry red, absolutely mint, the guitar of my dreams. I would have never found this anywhere else, especially in the immaculate condition that it is in. Getting it immediately. There is no other place like this on the planet, the merchandise found in here is rare, one of a kind, and top quality at a more than fair price. The service is personal and spot on, JZ will go far out of his way to make any and every customer happy. Guitar Center, Sam Ash, online retailers, have absolutely NOTHING on The Music Museum. Go there and find the guitar of your dreams too! more

The best store for vintage gear and service in the area! 11/12/2011

I have been buying and trading gear at this store for years. I also have learned many things from Jimmy. This store is an small town music shop that you can stop in and see what's hanging on the wall and talk music. Jimmy Z has been playing for years and is one of the best players around so he can give you good advice. I would rather support a small town store like this that is part of the community than some corporation. Two thumbs up! more

Legendary Experience 11/12/2011

Music Museum is a South Jersey treasure and well kept secret. Late hours, personal service and repairs you simply can't find elsewhere. Good, reliable guitar technicians are hard to find, someone to reliabaility fix your amplifier is another story. Jim Zalesky can do both. I have on more than one occassion dropped my amplifier or guitar off for service on a Saturday morning and received a voice mail at 6:00pm that evening telling the repairs had been made. more

Just like your friendly neighborhood hardware store! 11/12/2011

Jim has been in the same place serving musicians, studios, bedroom recording artists and kids getting started in music for ever and a day -- and he's almost always there, which is great in a pinch when your amp shorts out an hour before the gig or you've bent a tuning peg and the closest you've ever been to a screwdriver is at a vodka bar. One of the last great guitar/amp work benches in the area and a wealth of knowledge, Jim Z at Music Museum is an important local resource and a pillar of the community. Wouldn't hurt a fly and always tries to please. We trust him with everything from $5 drum sticks to $50,000 Les Pauls! A Cohen more

WARNING: Shop will rip you off!!!! 10/30/2011

I will never do buisness here again. The man ( I don't know if he was the owner, or just some dumb employee) ripped my 14 year old brother off. He sold him a used item for his drum that had a minor scratch on it at the time of purchase. My brother used his birthday money to buy this. He took it home, held it up to his drum, and realized that it was not the right size for his drum. The next day he tried to return it ( in the exact condition of which it was sold) and the man refused to return his $35. The man said that the scratch was not there before he took it home. That was a total lie. It was used and the scratch was already there. The man thought the fact that my brother was upset was funny and he was just plain rude. Anybody that is willing to rip of a boy of his birthday money is not to be trusted. I will no longer be a customer of this crappy shop. I will be taking my buisness to one of the many other (and much better) music shops around here. I try to support local buisnesses..but not when they try to rip people off. This is disgusting behavior. They really need to work on there customer service skills before they go out of buisness. more
