2 years ago we took the Museum of Neon Art's neon cruise and it was just the coolest thing. Eric the narrator was great, telling us all kinds of interesting facts about different buildings, areas and the history of LA. And he's as funny as can be. I've lived here all my life and learned a lot I didn't know. Last year we took my 75 year old mother and even she loved it. And she didn't mind the chilly night, which wasn't bad, but you know how older people are. Anyway, she thought it was great.
the museum is a cool place to check out different types of neon art and the old, old signs they have that I remember when I was a kid. Too bad so many of them are gone from the streets now.
the area is pretty good, with street parking and several pay lots on the corners nearby. There are also at least a 5-6 restaurants on the block and around the corner on main, with good food and reasonable prices.
Makes a great night out if your visiting or you've lived here forever. I plan to go again this year. I'd say it's the best tour in LA!
Pros: Totally unique to LA, fun
Cons: Can be cool - bring a jacket/blanket :)
