Dr Mulvey helped me lose 120 lbs, lower my blood pressure, eliminate sleep apnea, manage my arthritis pain, and encouraged me constantly to work out and be healthy. I can't thank him enough for that. However, his staff is just plain awful! They constantly screwed up my mail order RX's, and some of the staff was absolutely rude. I been to a couple of Dr's in Elkton since leaving Mulvey. My RX's have been on time and correct, but I can't say that the other two doctors, Billon and S. Breslow, seem as interested in my wellbeing. Billon constantly pushes homeopathic methods, which have no effect, and Breslow has so many patients that he has no idea who you are or what your recurring issues are. With Breslow, you need to make sure that any referrals or RX's actually get sent. If I thought the staff could keep my mail in RX's straight, Id go back in a heartbeat! more

I just wanted to respond to the last poster about Dr. Mulvey. Of course, he wants his patients to be healthy and at a healthy weight. However, insulting them and pressuring without any advice or strategy is not helpful. Telling me to let my baby cry when an obvious pat on the back or a toy will help is not my idea of how to raise my child. I would not have brought her to my appt except that she had one scheduled too. I felt rushed and insulted in this office. I did not feel that Dr. Mulvey was sensitive to my needs or to my concerns as he did not seem to have time to listen to what I had to say. He simply prescribed medication that, in my opinion, was not needed for a symptom that I had not even gone in to talk about. When I look for a doctor, I am looking for someone who is sensitive to my needs and yes, to my feelings. I want honesty but I want someone who I feel can empathize with me as well. I have found that in another doctor. more

Aww, come on Allyson, you can't be so quick to judge. Dr. Mulvey talks very fast and I do think his moods change from appointment to appointment and yes, if you are overweight he wants you to get healthy, duh. Isn't that what he's supposed to do? I think about what I want to talk say before I get in front of him to speed things up and help get everything in quickly. I like the way he types everything while he's with you. I also think it's good that he likes to check into to things rather than pat you on the head and dismiss. Sometimes he's a bit too thorough and if you are sesitive he can hurt your feelings once in awhile. BUT, he really does care about you, all of you, even the chunky parts! The worse part about the experience is the wait and even that has improved tremendously in the past year. more

Dr. Mulvey is a Family Practice Doctor. As such, he sees patients from early childhood through geriatrics. He is quick to prescribe medicines. In my case, I did not think that the medication he prescribed for me was even needed. He is somewhat judgemental, i.e. if you are overweight, he will really get on your case. In addition, I really didn't like the way he worked with children. I had my 1 year old daughter with me at an appointment for myself. She was in her stroller and she started crying. I just started talking to her to calm her down and he told me "just let her cry....babies need to cry." This was my child and his patient as well. I know that in some cases babies do need to cry but she was upset at being in the doctor's office and I didn't think that talking to her should have been a problem! I never went back to see him after this incident because it upset me. more
