This is the place. Very cool antique barber chairs, great service, great conversation, great music, and a cast of eccentric characters who wander in off of high street just to say hello. Tip Jim & Adam heavily. Bring an inappropriate joke. more

I would feel like I was cheating on a girlfriend if I went anywhere else 10/26/2006

I would feel totally guilty if I ever even thought about getting my hair cut anywhere but Mug & Brush. I would even make sure to time visits home with when I needed a haircut if my job took me away from Columbus. The owner of the shop Jim is a stylist, an artist, a partner in crime, a true appreciator of the female form, a guru, and the best damn barber in Columbus. Forget about those euro-trash day spas with their fake marble, attempt to upsale a compost facial, and awful new age tone killers they call mood music. If you want a haircut, a style, a color, an honest opinion about life, then go to Mug & Brush now. Right now. What is stopping you? Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, experienced staff, and no attempt to sell you products you don't need Cons: Need to call ahead on busy days more

Jim's The Man!!! 10/14/2006

Now I went into Jims shop just to look around. I hadnt had a haircut in like 17-18 years...it was a religious thing. Anyway, I go in and ask him what if I wanted to get a haircut,how would you do it, because guys, I had A LOT OF HAIR. Trust me, I had thick curly hair all the way up to my waist. Anyway, Jim was really nice and he totally understood my situation cuz cuttin my hair was a big deal for me. So I make an appointment fot the next day and Jim was just awesome. Poor guy mustve spent like more than an hour cuttin through the Jungle on my head lol but it turned out great. Nice music, Good customer service, Value for money and great customer interaction. Id recommend Mug and Brush to everyone.... Pros: Good Music And Customer Interaction more

I have had severle haircuts here that were decent. But my last one was terrible. The sides were uneven and Jim iqnored my requests to cut some off the top. He seemed distracted and in a hurry to get me out the door. more

I have been getting haircuts and color from Jim for over 6 years. he is receptive and easy to talk to. always helpful with suggestions and new ideas. i have never left his shop without feeling happy and excited about my mop. i'm the type of girl who wants to get a haircut and maybe some color and that's it! i don't like the stale feeling of a salon. at mug and brush you feel like you are visiting your friends house, where you can just relax and have a very pleasent experience. Only person allowed to cut my hair.. Ever. 5/26/2006

I started seeing Jim about four or five years ago, and I have to say that I will never go anywhere else for a haircut! I love that I have someone that knows my hair and my style so well that I can walk into his shop and I say, ""I have no idea what I want"" and he'll somehow cut my hair in such a way that I leave telling him, ""This is exactly what I wanted!"" We bounce ideas off of one another, and he always has a way of creating something stylish and unique everytime. more

Jim did a wonderful job listening to my concerns and desires for my haircut. He went above my expectations and did a great job figuring out what I wanted by the description and photos I gave him. I was definately impressed by what he did with my hair! He did a wonderful job! The atmosphere also had that artsy, eclectic, college-town feel to it, which was kind of cool. Jim has been cutting my hair since 1991 and has always done a great job, at least I always feel like i've got a good doo on. Jim is a skilled barber and the nicest of guys. The shop is comfortable and the cuts are very reasonable. Highly recommended!!! Pros: Talking with Jim, Inexpensive, Great doos more

I was paying triple the amount for the same cut at an ""upscale"" salon. Staff is friendly and accomodating. This place has the look and feel of an old-school barber shop with a more modern attitude. more

I always love my cut! 5/3/2006

This is a great salon for the culture hungry, value concious people in Columbus. Women's cuts are way reasonable and it isn't extra for a shampoo or style. I have short hair and like to change it up all the time, the guys always do an excellent job for me. They do color and stuff too. more
