Mudcatz review! 8/1/2010

One guy with pretty nifty chef credentials (Todd Scire) devoted to Mudcatz make a difference. Chef Todd worked for Au Pied de Cochoun, Tucker Country Club, Cooks Warehouse, The Blonde Thai Chef and a list of others that reads like a VIP list. He was also a chef a T-Bones. Not only are the ribs properly slow-cooked, the roasted chicken rates as well. Mac ?n? cheese is made with large tube pasta and comes quite cheesy with a lovely top crust. Slaw is very fresh tasting and delightfully crunchy with a kick, as if all the vegetables were chopped by hand; we also suggest the collard greens. Dessert might not be Chef Todd?s strong point as he said, but the strawberry cheesecake with fresh vanilla whipped cream was some of the best I have had. He told me he is training his cooking team from the ground up and sources much of its raw material from local purveyors, making a real difference. Even the salmon is flown in fresh. I had the honor of Chef Todd actually sitting down at my table and talking about the upcoming new menu and asked for out thoughts. He seemed to care what we thought and was a wealth of info. We even got him to tell us how he made the BBQ shrimp. We had been to Mudcatz before, nothing like now. If the food stays this good, we have found a new favorite chef! Now, do not take this the wrong way but service was a little slow and the server was more or less on her cell phone most of the time we were there. The chef I think said something to her but when he left she was back at it. So here is our rating?? A+ Chef Todd A Food C Service B Music B Price Pros: Great food and beer. Cons: Slow service and beer refills. more

First CLASS 7/14/2010

A friend of mine and I were looking for something different as we drove through the streets of inviting lights of restaurants and Pubs searching for decent food and good music to kick back and listen to with no hassles? We ventured onto the the plaza at Dunwoody where we encountered three decisions; The Wasabi Bar, The Taveren, and the really nice landscaped, gated restaurant we felt might be a little more than we could handle as far as aristocratic class or just some hole in the wall...Well unfortunately we went with the middle of the road(regular venue and ""safe"" road) I would never recommend it at all...We tried the Tavern and to our dismay, the smoke left us literally crying in our beer and we couldn,t believe the bar food they offered!!!!We were so pleased with the warm welcome at Mudcutz and the beautiful servers and handsome servers. The food was unique and fresh and besides being able to go out on the covered patio (I have smoked for twenty years) but I really don't want to encroach on my friends..we really enjoyed the restaurant and the feeling of home... Leaving without SMELL you later feeling, or WOW I really can't wait to go back!!!!!!!! Mudcatz is the BOMB! Pros: Music, Food, Ambiance and Smoke Free Cons: After the pros I can't think of ONE more

What a dump! 4/24/2010

If you like listening to the same lame 70?s cover bands, bad food, watching drunk middle-aged divorcees hook-up while their tween kids dance to Skynyrd covers, this is your bar. Pros: Great Staff Cons: Clientele more

Mudcatz Bar and Grill 4/5/2010

""This is where you want to eat. A restaurant that?s friendly and unpretentious, casual but nice enough to make dinner feel a little special. You?d love to walk over to the pool room or garden room, but don?t worry about parking it won?t take forever to find a parking space the parking lot holds a hundred or more. You can just show up at the door and know you?ll get a table before too long."" Pros: ""This is where you want to eat"". Cons: All the people at the tables and bar left us on the patio! more

kid friendly great bands!! 4/5/2010

My sister and i went for a evening luch. The waiters where polite and easy to conversate with. The food was GREAT. I haven't had a burger like i did that day for a long time. We also relized they had a band setting up. It was nice to sit down and enjoy a band and burger. Pros: GREAT CHIEF, GREAT FOOD more

Bar is OK, Food and servers are HORRIBLE 4/2/2010

My friend and I went for a couple of drinks and a light meal. The barman was very rude in tone and demeanor. The food (sandwiches) were perfectly awful. I had a reuben that contained maybe one slice of tough corned beef that had a slightly off taste. The bread was stale and hard; the french fries were straight from Ore-ida. Pros: Bar is all right; reasonably priced drinks Cons: Rude barman; awful, nearly inedible, food more

YUM! 3/17/2010

This place is getting a lot of mixed reviews and I do not understand... this is by far the best cajun food in the area. Our waiter was great! Pros: Great Atmosphere more

Great raw oysters! Kid friendly 2/19/2010

Went there with my 9 month old and husband and it was great! The Apalachicola oysters are my favorite!! The wait staff was super nice. the place was clean, spacious, with the look of upscale restaurant without the high costs and stuffy feeling. I've gone back a dozen times since my first visit. It's my family's favorite spot in Dunwoody to eat, dine and enjoy being together. Pros: comfortable, great food, great atmosphere more

Shrimp & Gritz was phenomenal 1/13/2010

Not sure what all the so so reviews were about. I was there last weekend and the food was great, waitress was great. Definitely check them out. Pros: cool vibe more

terrible service, overpriced 10/27/2009

called three times to place order and no answer - drove there to place order in person and the hostess didn't apologize or say anything when I mentioned I tried to call and got answer. She just shrugged her shoulders. She really could not have cared less about her job and could not have been less friendly which made a very bad first impression on top of the fact that I had to order in person and spend an extra half hour waiting there. The food is fine, nothing extraordinary, may as well have been Zatarain's. They serve cajun/creole dishes which is somewhat hard to find in this area so that's good, but other than that, for the price and the attitude I got on my first visit, I would not recommend it for good cajun/creole food. The place itself seems pretty cool, the bar is nice, lots of tv's and a separate room for live music, but if the service is always like what I got, I wouldn't hang out there. Pros: cajun/creole food Cons: service, price, food okay-not great more

Poor service, undercooked food and insults - 8/19/2009

If you're looking to avoid a night out with slow service, bad food and a rude attitude by the ownership - I'd find somewhere else to go eat. Pros: Neighborhood Cons: Service, attitude, food more

Assistance Needed.. 7/30/2009

Where to start... The facility has lots of potential. Great BAR.! Seating is a bit uncomfortable because the chairs are very old and left over from the old Pavilion. I'm sure they will eventually be redone in the seat to make them more comfortable. Grade B+. Also, get rid of Jake Blues. That is some garage sale junk which is COMPLETELY OUT OF PLACE..! Now the bad news. The food is not good. And I mean uneatable. I've eaten at the old location and the new facility several times. I thought the old location may have been limited due to limited kitchen. I am either sadly mistaken or the new kitchen has as many problems as the old. First problem. The quality of the food is low to start. The old saying you can't make chicken salad out of chicken s*$t applies to Mudcats. Examples: The chicken wings are cooked from frozen to fryer thus the burned and blackened ends on the wings. The fries are taken from freezer to fryer. Which is a very poor way to cook fries. Burgers are just so pitiful. If I can cook one two times better than a restaurant then, they ain't trying. Vegies. Broccoli stems...! Costco doesn't have stems.. Go get some Costco veggies. The seafood gumbo is actually the best thing to order and it gets a solid B. Can't do it anymore. We (us 4) eat before going and their ain't much more going.. Service slowness did us in the last few times.. unless you are at the bar. Bar is fine with great prices. Fat Tire on tap.! Bar gets an A-. Great TVs so I'm guessing football season would be nice. I give it a D. I don't give Fs unless you don't serve liquor. There you have it. Pros: Great facility.. Cons: Food and Service more

A GOTTA Go to Place~~~ 7/11/2009

We understand this a new establishment, so our order did take a bit longer than expected. However, once we received our meal it was well worth the wait! Pros: Service n Eats The Best Cons: A bit slow in meal getting to table more

Comfortable for singles and families 7/4/2007

The folks who work at CB South are nice and service is great. Saturday night karaoki is fun and the food is good too. Try the blackend chicken pasta, yum. I like that it's not all families and not all singles. If you are single and not looking for the ""singles scene"" and a nice place to hang out... this is it. (: Pros: Location, overall feel more

relaxed atmosphere 11/16/2006

This is a great place to sit back in comfortable clothes and enjoy a good beer with friends. No uptight people here. Friendly place with good prices on good food and drinks. Pros: relaxed atmosphere, good beer Cons: no pool table more
